As i've stated before, his clickbait titles are just awful. They're the sort of titles that (had I not already been aware of his content) would make me avoid his videos like the plague just on principle.
I completely understand that. But nevertheless, the title is really dumb sounding, and the video thumbnail looks like typical clickbait.

I don't understand. That's a quote from the guy that directed FLCL and summarizes the point of the video rather aptly.

..... kinda weird this comes out days after the premiere of FLCL Progressive, yet this video is about the first OVA.
Not really. FLCL is currently a hot topic that will presumably pull favor from the youtube algorithm, but there's very little of Progressive to actually talk about.
I mean with the current adpocaylpse click bait titles have become a necessary evil.
You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price. He says in the video that now's a good time to talk about FLCL because of the new stuff. And that he may have stuff to say about Progressive and Alternative later, as they come out.

I have a message from another time...His "clickbait titles" aren't nearly as bad as some others honestly. We're not quite at "The number one of this top will surprise you!" level.
He's not "Butch Hartman" levels of horrible clickbait titles.
That's fair.
It's here and it's not positive.
He picked apart everything wrong with Franxx's world-building, which I admit to not expecting but I'm glad he understood the issues with it.
Same, I respect anyone who can analyze the flaws of something they enjoy/enjoyed.
Disappointed he didn't bring up the backlash certain groups have had with the show but that's an entirely different topic and I can't blame him for that.
What's really sad is he made a video praising Darling before.
Oh the sadness in making a video about how much a show sucks when you were previously praising it.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Funny thing is, the next episode took a ninety degree turn. It didn't help the problems (aside from expanding on klaxo-girl), but it definitely got weirder.
If anything, the newest episode confused some things further. And it made Klaxxo Hime into Best Girl.
On the matter of Geoff's usage of clickbait, it's definitely an intentional thing on his end. over the past year or so he kind of restructured the way he's built his channel on Matpat's "brand building" principles. It's definitely a divisive approach but he's also seen an absurd amount of subscriber growth as a result, so it kind of works.
You talking the show's handling of gender and homosexuality?
That's definitely something that would require a video of it's own if he were to touch on it.

I think he vaguely alluded to it by mentioning "problematic subtext" or something like that, and yeah, he said that was its own can of worms.
Oh God! Natural light!Disappointed he didn't bring up the backlash certain groups have had with the show but that's an entirely different topic and I can't blame him for that.
What backlash?
You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price.Basically what was probably intended to be a pro-sex message got interpreted as an anti-gay message.
(though it should be remembered that if a message is taken the wrong way it's often the author's fault for cocking up how it is communicated).

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"I'm confused; just because a show has a "pro-sex" message and focuses on heterosexual sex doesn't inherently make it "anti-gay". Or am I missing something here?
(Mind you, i've fallen behind and haven't been keeping up with the show, and am only up to episode 5; does the show has a sudden 'six-o-clock "gay panic" episode that I just haven't gotten to yet?)
The thing is that the show was trying to have a pro-baby message, but because of poor writing, it ended up coming across as strongly heteronormative, with the villains being asexual dictators who want to remove gender and emotions from humanity, and their heavies are the only non-heteronormative pairs on the show, while the heroes are a group of heterosexual teenagers (plus one lonely lesbian and a boy who can, at best, be described as somewhat homosexual) who have a heterosexual wedding interrupted by armed forces and are not allowed to have children.
It comes across a bit badly.
Ignoring his ever annoying Crunchyroll ads, he nails the show's strengths pretty accurately. Not sure about the music though, I didn't really notice it.
Still, despite his good points Geoff sounds kinda… dispassionate? in this video… or maybe it's just me…
No one linked it, but a personal video where he talks about how Yu Gi Oh (The game) helped him through a hard time in his life by forcing him to go out and be social.
And a new PSA
Geoff talks about FLCL.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?
