Mark Millar is one of the worst writers in comic book history.
Old Man Logan's existence disproves that statement. He has talent, he just needs a filter.
I've only read Nemesis, and it was shit.
My stories on AO3.A few years back I read a decent bit of Millar's work but, as is my bad habit, I wandered off. It was about the time Superior came out and I've only heard good things about it.
Mark Millar actually is not a successful comic
Been reading his stuff for fun and I actually find it more enjoyable than most other comics out there. I loved Kick-Ass, Nemesis and especially Superior and I'm looking forward to the New Kick-Ass he's got coming up.
I am never reading Unfunnies though.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?I read that new comic he made Empress a while ago.
Did not like it mostly cause I hated the ending, made me regret buying the issues.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."O_O
Read it. Liked it. Little predictable but the main character was refreshingly competent. And the ending was a bit of a surprise. It's a fun portrayal of what having super speed would be like if you didn't have the Speed Force or every box under Required Secondary Powers checked off.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I think his best semi receny work is starlight and i really want a prequel
New Kick-Ass O_O
Yyeeeep! Read all about it! http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/mark-millar-unveils-new-black-905284
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?Nemesis might be one of the worst Villain Sues I've seen.
At least he got capped at the end.
Although it is my personal theory that the old man at the end either has precog or was just trolling Blake.

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?Seems Nemesis is getting a sequel called Nemesis Reloaded and a Millerworld crossover called Big Game
It's interesting how on one hand you have Nemesis and Wanted as Mark Millar being a complete edgelord and on the other you have stuff like Superman: Red Son. Definitely seems like he's a case of "can be a good writer, but needs a filter"
So, anyone picked up Ambassadors?
I'm wary, but hearing vaguely positive things.
Nemesis Reloaded is out now and it's basically a ramped up version of the first volume.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?Nemesis Reloaded ended on its fifth issue and... set up a crossover between all of Millar's superhero books including MPH and Wanted.
Haven't reas it yet. Whay's it about?
I fell off Millar's stuff. I want to read Superior, Jupiter's Legacy.
I think he's a decent writer. People just conflate edginess with "must be shit." Non-optimistic and non-represents my politics works always get that.
Nemesis is very sickening. Nemesis Reloaded had my attention all the way through. Kick Ass vs Hit Girl too.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).well the 2nd part of his crossover is out. edison crane, and the chrononauts are down as is not!batgirl. The Ambassadors who just had their mini were all killed by nemesis who is the 2nd biggest mary sue in the millarverse and hopefully the biggest one kills him
I thought The Batman That Laughs represented all the pitfalls when writing the Joker, but Nemesis proved I was being unfair to Laughs
and we are one part away from the big crossover ending and its still bad. the fraternity effortlessly kills off the remaining heroes minus kick-ass who missed his bus, only for the bad guy from empress to come in after he reverse engineered the chrononauts time travel and wants to show the present they shouldnt have forgotten him
Oh, this is out?
Sounds entertaining.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Its really not.
Being on the TV Tropes forum it feels like there's a common opinion that Millar and Ennis are cringey edgelords who occasionally do good. Or am I just generalizing
I liked night club one of his most recent works, about a group of teenage vampires playing at being super heroes which is why it was irritating for them all to job immediately to the fraternity.
I finished Nemesis the other day and I liked all three volumes of Kick-Ass and the Hit-Girl spin-off. Now I'm kind of hooked. They're all deconstructions of some heroes you might be familiar with.
But most importantly there's Nemesis, which was supposed to have a sequel by now. Nemesis is, put simply, a story that asks the question, "What if Batman was an evil d—k and Commissioner Gordon had to fight him?" Pretty base, but entertaining in a way that comics like Bomb Queen aren't. Maybe that's actually not some clever deconstruction of the character, but it's absolutely fun to see Batman's memetic ability to prepare for anything taken to a villainous extent.
Kick-Ass, meanwhile, everybody knows - a kid decides he wants to be a superhero in real life, realizes he's way in over his head, and influences a brutal duo of costumed vigilantes intent on taking on the mob. The sequel focuses on the rise of real-life "supervillains" and the third completes the saga by showing how the main character tries to find a middle ground between his vigilantism and actually being a functioning member of society.
Haven't read MPH yet, but given it's summarized as "kids get super-speed from a new drug on the street" it sounds neat.
Jupiter's Legacy sounds a bit like Kingdom Come - reflecting on what makes each generation of superheroes/comic books different.
