YouTube Channel(s) You've Unsubscribed From and Why

I'm starting to question if should I unsub to Ct1tikal. I don't see him post his Let's Plays with his dry, monotone comments lately. All he does is commentaries, and I'm not hooked to that, neither on his Moist Meter videos lest I get spoiled before I watch those movies.

Criti Kal is not a bad guy but he is pretty boring to watch.

Really don’t like his “holier than thou” attitude regardless of his strong arguments. I’m tired of being a sheep just so I don’t become a target of scorn.

I’ve unsubscribed to too many people because of this.

I recently unsubscribed from Jacksepticeye, even though I will certainly revisit his Let's Plays of some of my old favorites (Undertale, Night in the Woods, Bendy and the Ink Machine) and I'll watch if he does a Let's Play of a game I really like and want to see more of (i.e., if he does a series for the upcoming Creator-Driven Successor to Night in the Woods, I will certainly watch it, and I'll go back for the next chapters of Deltarune). I still like Sean a lot, but he uploads a ton of content, and 95% of it is stuff I'm just not interested in.

Plus - this is petty - I was lowkey annoyed when he started giving his video names clickbait titles. I get he has to bring in viewers for the revenue, but it bugged me.

Why is it so difficult to keep subscribing on content creators when they retire or change their style whether it's a change in the algorithm/trends or not and all they do is to catch your attention through clickbaits? If it's monetization, then I dunno what is.

People evolve and change over time and do so in their own unique way.

So it is. Ever since Pewdiepie semi-retired from Youtube and moved to Japan with his wife, became a dad, and got surpassed my Mr. Beast, Markiplier ending his Unus Annus series, and Jacksepticeye venturing to other stuff like setting his own coffee company, it's just hard to keep up after they reached their career highs and fulfilled their goals and me leaving an Awesomeness Withdrawal.

I unsubbed from art-tuber Ergojosh because in his most recent video about why he doesn't draw men (even though he has Spider-Punk in the thumbnail), he cited Jordan Peterson. Good luck gettin' picked, Josh. I found his videos pretty boring anyway of late. He should have stuck to talking about his artistic philosophies.

Really don’t know if I should keep following Philip DeFranco. He’s such a swell and coolheaded guy that I and many others respect. The public reaction to the news he covers is so sadistic, I shouldn’t be looking deeper. Maybe it’s best to cut it off at the source.

Galactipod - An ancient EAS creator from years ago in my back log who I disliked due to their inability to take criticism. They went dormant and I forgot about them, only for them to magically pop up in my subs yesterday. I watched the new vid out of curiosity. The video was mid and the voice of one of the VAs for the scenario is a dead-ringer for a nonce that got blacklisted from the fandom. (Could just be a sound-alike but I'm skeptical) As if I already needed enough reasons to unsub.

Unsubbed from GrayStillPlays, not because he did anything wrong, but because I just lost interest. He's been playing a lot of clickbaity mobile games and GTA V racing/obstacle course challenges, neither of which I'm really interested in. I used to like his Happy Wheels videos, but I eventually lost interest in those too.

When I was a kid, I was subbed to Mackenzie Turner, but recently it's just become her recycling the same old stuff so I unsubbed.

Found myself unsubbing to The Try Guys recently - nothing against the trio or their team, I just realised I didn't have the energy or interest to watch their content anymore. It also doesn't help that most of their older videos that I used to rewatch have aged poorly after the Ned fiasco.

I also unsubbed to Game Grumps for a similar reason a few years back, but that was also because I was growing increasingly fed up with Arin's attitude towards certain game franchises. (And also let's be honest here, he sucks at playing video games.)

I have a history of unsubscribing from channels that repeatedly use the same background music in all of their videos (usually a Kevin MacLeod song). It's a fairly petty reason, but that's just the kind of stuff that irritates my brain.

Sorted, I found their content has become stale and repetitive despite venturing into different cultures. They keep limiting themselves to challenges that it’s become boring.

Unsubbed from Jenny Nicholson's channel. Not because she did anything wrong but because I haven't been checking out her content in a long while and the fact she hasn't uploaded in a while.

I also unsubbed to an ASMR channel called Kooji VA for the same reason.

Database Ranger's Power Reviews: I lost the energy to watch his content and his updates were already slow as-is. Power Rangers has been far from my radar for a little while now.

Vanegood: Used to be a decent meme channel. Now 90% of their content is long-form gaming streams. Not what I subbed to them for.

About to unsubscibe from The Escapist due to the massive shakeup with Yahtzee Croshaw, the main creative behind Zero Punctuation, leaving after The Escapist fired a bunch of people.

YX Productions: Major players in the EAS scene. They haven't done anything wrong, but the lore of their Verse has gone from "fleshing out the universe made by (and with) another Creator" to a Kingdom Hearts-esque Kudzu Plot full of needless Name Drops (many of which are red herrings for constant family drama) that can't decide if it's a space-opera or a robot drama and got too bloated trying to be both. I just don't have the energy to follow any of it anymore.

The Critical Drinker: Found him refreshing as a reviewer when I first discovered him...only to discover that almost all of his critiques can be boiled down to "SJWs bad, modern movies bad. Therefore movie bad because SJW bad." Like EVERY review has some variation of this meme/idea at-play and it's pretty reductive. "SJW bad" is the lens through which he examines all content. It's tiring.

Jimquisition: Fell off of them for the most part, though I admit that I have misgivings about how they treat their audience sometimes.

A long time ago (I'm talking 2010) I unsubbed from The Amazing Atheist because I realized how much of a douchebag he is. He always had a thing for offensive humor, but it became apparent to me he's legitimately a misogynist. Same thing happened with thunderf00t.

I unsubbed from Mr. Enter in 2015. I can't remember what the final straw was, but after 2020 and also his Turning Red 9/11 take I'm glad I jumped ship. I did recently watch his apology videos though, and he seems to be going through a redemption arc. I hope it sticks, but I have no interest in watching him anymore.

I unsubbed from Iilluminaughtii after everything came to light about her. I had been watching her less and less, but The Click's response to her was the final nail in the coffin.

I watched Shoe0nHead from around 2019 to 2022 because I thought she'd started turning over a new leaf, but it turns out she's just a grifter. Her pandering to QAnon types sealed it for me.

While I never subscribed to those channels, I really wish that I was never exposed to those "Anti SJW" channels. The term "SJW" itself is so vague that it can mean anything really. Hindsight made me realize that some of them were not all that smart to begin with.

Has anyone ever tried to resubscribed to a Youtube channel after factors like moving on from controversy or uploading new content?

I don't see anything wrong with autism nor the autistic. They just interpret things differently and that is beneficial. We should accept differences as opposed to shooing them away.

Jobby, you're fast paced while being informative; an impressive feat that I applaud. It made me want to revisit your old videos (like this one) but discovering it made me lose all respect for you.
