If a Pokemon film is to be made, then I want it to be done in the style of the Speed Racer film.
Uh, is it my imagination or does the Realistic Mewtwo look like a Stephen Gammell illustration?
I like to keep my audience riveted.A closer look at realistic Mewtwo, Mew, and Dittos.

Digimon would actually make a far better live action movie than Pokemon.
Not saying Digimon itself is overall better or worse than Pokemon, it depends on the incarnation for each, but Digimon just would lend itself far better to live action. It's basically Narnia meets Lord of the Flies meets Where the Wild Things Are meets, um, well, Pokemon, but three out of four ain't bad.

I'm with you on that. An unashamed live-action cartoon. Make no attempts to justify anything further than what the games already do, and just have lots of dorky friendship moments and fun action scenes.
Provided it wasn't saccharine and biteless like the anime I could get down with that, though it would mean critics would most likely roast the film just like they did with Speed Racer.
Seriously, if the fights are done in a similar way like this, I'd be one happy camper:

That's not the Speed Racer movie that came out in 2008, is it?
Is there a problem if it is?
No, I'm just curious because it looks horrible.
I'm not interested in having a seizure, thank you very much.

Well, maybe not exactly like that, but just make it cartoony and fun and a bit cheesy. Gritty doesn't work at all with Pokemon. Sincerity makes it work.
I love that stupid Speed Racer movie. L Dragon knows what I mean.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI feel like I'm obligated to post this.
Pokemon is maybe the only cartoon/anime I've ever wanted to be adapted for live action. I don't even think it will be good, I just think its unbelievable that no one has actually tried.
You're just in time. Bayble Cuber's going to watch an inkle dribble adventure from days of old on my holo-pyramid viewer.I can think of it as being like that Goosebumps movie that came out last year where it has fun with its nostalgia.
Honestly, I'm gonna say this right now, I've always thought every attempt to do a "Live Action Cartoon/Comic" like Speed Racer or Ultraviolet looked like total ass so personally that'd be a terrible art direction for this just on principle.
Evan Liaw's Pokemon Center I think has the right idea. A sorta more 20MinutesIntoTheFuture take on the series, which was already the direction the series itself was headed before Black & White where they toned down the more sci-fi stuff.
Then again, I mean goes back to my own opinion on the series. Like, there's a lot of things from my childhood that I still think holds up to this day (PS 1 Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, the Tony Hawk series, The Powerpuff Girls and Dexters Laboratory, Ratchet And Clank, the first Resistance Fall Of Man although that's pushing it on the "childhood front") but honestly, Pokemon (I grew up with Gold/Sliver and Ruby/Sapphire) just isn't one of them. The actual battling gameplay is just...... boring and the world/setting is very, just uninteresting to me.
Now that I think of it my idea of doing Pokemon Darker and Edgier Nolan-style would probably work better for Digimon more than anything because it was already Darker and shit (especially Tamers) and held up better with time if only because it was more plot focused than Pokemon ever was, I dunno.
Honestly a fun A boy and his X story would work just fine as long as the Pokemon looked good.
Hell. Fucking. NO.
That movie bombed big times, both critically and commercially, and rightfully so because that's a putrid puddle of piss.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. So it begins... the Great Speed Racer War of our time.
Mah 'Chomp is faster than yo 'Chomp. It has perfect IV, 252 Speed EV, and Jolly Nature.

Non Indicative UsernameIt would amuse me so much if the equivalent of Ash and his female companion ends up together at the end of the movie.
I said it would amuse me, not necessarily it would be good.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. It'd certainly provide closure to a lot of nerds.
I agree that going the Speed Racer route would be the best. Of course professional critics will hate it, but that's not really an issue.
The issue is general audience wasn't so hot about it either.

OP, can I holler the mods to change the title of the thread in order for tropers here to talk about more than just the movie rights dispute?
