I've gotta wonder if the box office predictions for Civil War are way too high. The last Captain America made $260 million total at the domestic box office. If it even gets close to $200 million during its opening weekend, that'll be an even bigger increase than what we saw between Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3 (and Iron Man 3 had the advantage of being the first post-Avengers Marvel movie).
Iron Man 3 had mixed reviews, though, and Cap 3 kind of IS an Avengers movie. One which will introduce Spider-man to the franchise (also Black Panther, but let's not pretend that Spider-man isn't the big draw in all this). In addition, while Iron Man 3 came off the heels of the Avengers, it was also more a sequel to Iron Man 2. Civil war is the sequel to The Winter Soldier, which is a crazy popular movie.
And so far Marvel had a perfect marketing campaign. by lifting the review embargo so early they practically screamed "this is an awesome movie". Everyone will want to see it, before they get spoiled...in fact, for the first time ever I have bought my ticket for the first possible screening close to me. Usually I wait until me and my friends manage to match up our schedules, but this time around I decided to go, no matter what.
One good thing about living in India is that it's never hard to get a ticket for an English movie.
The good thing about living in Germany is pre-assigned seating and the opportunity to buy a ticket to the pre-premiere on april 27.
The good thing about living in Venezuela is, um, ah, ehhhh, I'll call you as soon as I think of one.
The good thing about living in Canada is… I got nothing.
Peace is the only battle worth waging. No terrorists?
The best thing about living in Canada is you aren't living in Venezuela.
If you think otherwise, please let's trade places.
I'll admit, the combination of my work schedule allowing it and the early positive reviews saying "Turns out the movie isn't a mess, it's actually really really good" convinced me to go get a Civil War ticket for an early Thursday night release showing, which I've already got.
It's probably the earliest I've ever bought a movie ticket, too.

Yeah, me too. I usually prefer to avoid the first big run, but I am so afraid of getting spoiled too much, I just had to buy a ticket, NOW.
Zootopia is a beast! Still on place 4 this weekend.
My initial prediction for its final gross was between $900 million and $950 million. I wonder if it will break that.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I doubt it. Internationally Civil war will start to dominate the box office this weekend. Unless Disney hold Zootopia back from some important markets, which I don't think they did, it should end up somewhere in this area. But for an animated movie, that's really good numbers. Who would have thought that Zootopia would be the most successful movie of the year at this point. I am sure that Civil war will soon steal the crown from it, but this is really impressive. I wonder about Civil War, though. Initially I said that depending on the quality of the movie, everything between The Winter Soldier and Avenger numbers is possible, but now I won't be surprised if it ends up making more than The Avengers.
Are any films currently predicted to make The Force Awakens numbers this year?
Peace is the only battle worth waging.I don't think so...even with Rogue One the predictions are more careful.
In terms of budget to actual profit I think Deadpool will be the big success story this year.
RDJ alone probably got paid more for CW than Deadpool's entire budget.
True. Though I do think that the movie would have been a little bit better with a little bit more of a budget.
So what are the current predictions for BVS' final numbers at the box office?
Donestically: BVS is currently on day 32, and has made about as much as Spiderman 3 had made by it's day 32. But BVS was more front-end-loaded, and is mow making less per day than Spidey 3 did. So it's going to make less than the $336 domestic that Spiderman 3 earned, and it may make less than the $333 million Guardians of the Galaxy made (meaning it will fall short of ever being in the top ten highest-earning superhero movies). Something around $330 mil seems likely.
What about worldwide?
Worldwide it's more or less has already opened in every major market. At most, it'll continue to a slow crawl to $900 mil. Though with Civil War releasing everywhere, it probably won't make it to that amount.

I'm really wanting to see how Zootopia finishes out. Depending on how it does in Japan, it could crack a billion.
Worldwide experts are currently discussing if Civil War can take second place of the highest international release without China being part of the schedule. I doubt that many theatres will bother to show much of Bv S after this weekend.
There are currently speculations if Civil War could reach 200 million $ for the first weekend...but to be honest, I don't care. I care more what the bottom line will be when all is said and done.
