Seems kind of low given the stars and the promising trailers. But the movie is great, would be nice to see it open above expectations or just delivering a good run.
Checked the Oppenheimer article, it says #4 is a shocker. The 4 I listed are the safe bets, but with that in mind consider that the top 25 includes Migration, Sound of Freedom and... Meg 2: The Trench!
Just checked - it's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, of all things, with a net profit of $204.5m

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.GO TURTLES!!!
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!I thought that movie was a flop! How did it make so much money!?
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Perhaps it was only a "flop" in the sense that the executives and shareholders didn't think it was profitable enough for their liking.
Again, the articles break these things down, its all very clear and easily digestible. The movie was a modest success in theaters, but merchandise and streaming helped push it much further along.
the studio was probably pretty happy with the film considering it greenlit a spinoff and a sequel.

It helps that the merchandising was huge for this. Made a lot on toys.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.This. I saw it did okay but didnt make the moolah that others did and people said it was a flop. Guess they were WRONG LOL.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. There was some mild culture warring attached to this movie, so I wouldn't be surprised if some misinformation were passed around, from people who don't even try to follow the box office with some seriousness. Despite trades pointing out that Mutant Mayhem had strong prospects in the merchandising department for 2023-24.
I recall Dan Murrell pointing out that the TMNT films, in contrast to other notable comic book franchises, don't typically pull huge $500 million theatrical revenues. Only the first Bay film is the stand-out, while the rest typically had diminishing returns, but relevantly manageable budgets.
Also, this is a good reminder that the theatrical box office run sometimes isn't the whole story of a film's success.

Yeah as much as people say "streaming is killing movies", Mutant Mayhem made 100 million dollars from tv and streaming.
and : That could be quite compatible with my earlier suggestion. Mutant Mayhem does okay in theaters, and so is seen as a disappointment by the industry because it's not immediately a mega-hit like the bigger Marvel movies were, but it then manages to have some crazy-long legs on streaming, home video, and merchandising.
: That's also very possible, given how vocal the far-right grifters are about everything they think is the slightest bit "woke", and how quick they are to label what they hate as "flops", with their chud followers mindlessly parroting their claims (until the works in question end up making tons of money, at which point they have to pivot to another position, usually trying to claim that they were "anti-woke" all along; see their reactions to The Super Mario Bros. Movie and X-Men '97 for examples of the chuds' and grifters' initial response of labelling them as "woke" and "failures", and the sudden pivot they had to do once they turned out to be big hits after all).

How much did Rise of the Beasts make in toys? I hear TMNT's giant toy profit though never Transformers toy sales rising from that movie
Pantheon server for all who click here. Freaking lost $410 and I am hunting down for a nuke to reign down.Which movies made more money: the Transformers movies or the Ninja Turtles movies?
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!I feel pretty sure it was transformers
Yeah, accoriding to wikipedia the transformers movies made a billion more in profit according to straight production budget versus box office versus TMNT who have around 300 mil profit at best.
Pantheon server for all who click here. Freaking lost $410 and I am hunting down for a nuke to reign down.Good toy sales based on good, memorable properties from movies that will stick with you from childhood to adulthood bring big bucks.
Astroturfed conservative conspiracy rage brings bucks for a short amount of time if they're lucky (I'm prepared to eat crow if So F is in the top three, because I respect nothing about that movie).
Disney Detonates Four Bombs In Deadline’s 2023 Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament

- Haunted Mansion: $117 million

Peace is the only battle worth waging. If these numbers are accurate, then not only is The Marvels the biggest bomb of all time by an embarrassingly large margin, but then 2023 also has 4 of the top 10 biggest bombs of all time, and 5 of the top 15. Post-pandemic messed with the box office hard.

Doesn't help budgets are ballooning and streaming isn't as profitable as DVD/Blu-ray. A blockbuster that sinks really goes down the depths.
TMNT was indeed a pleasant surprise. I never know what to expect in the expenses other than budget... but this one reminded of the other half, income other than box office.
It's sad that not a lot of movies are making over $1 billion nowadays. Like, I think only two movies made over $1 Billion last year.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!you can´t expect to go right back to the way they're so easily after a pandemic.
Not to mention, there were never "a lot" of movies that made a billion dollars beforehand.
It's a very high bar to clear. It's also not really something we need to make a big deal about—it's just an artifical milestone.
What actually makes a given movie a success or not, and how much of a success, depends on a lot more factors than just one single variable in the equation.
I think the studio franchises that dominated look lucky enough to be only contracting in terms of revenue. That is the last thing execs would want. Nobody knows whats the next consistent genre drawer since we havent seen it yet. If superheroes being hits are being the exception again, then expect a lot of emptier theaters since fans dont outnumber casuals attracted to the big mainstream movies

I hear from 'The Numbers' that his international opening is 8.5 millions.
