A bit of a specific suggestion for this title. Seems like a good idea to me otherwise.
(Personally, I've thought that in a future forum software for TV Tropes, having a function that informs people of a thread if certain criteria - such as being watchers of a page that has just been put in TRS - are met may be useful, but it's far more general than this.)
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAs this was inspired by the deletion of Wall Banger, I have to wonder how many people would be watching the main article for that anyway. Why bother? The simple fact of the existence of subpages makes this idea almost impossible for any large trope.
It's too bad that headlines are broken; hopefully we'll get a replacement for them in the big update.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I've asked preliminarily to have it repaired in the next overhaul. Buncha broken things that need maintenance.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt would not be difficult to notify all those who are watching within a namespace, even in the hopefully rare case of a namespace zap.
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong. — H.L. MenckenOne consideration is that in the "database overhaul", the TRS or IP tags may be propagated to all elements (examples, quotes, etc.) associated with a trope. If they are on someone's watchlist (say by having a work that has examples from that particular trope) they will become the thread on their watchlist. This might result in large message spam, though.

Hook it up so that a TRS thread start-up for a given page will send a canned PM to all the tropers who have assigned the page to their wiki watchlist. Seems like a group whose attention is important.
