Currently, the the page for the entire work series has the name of the first, albeit arguably the most famous, work.

This is just as silly as listing the entirety of Dresden Files tropes under Storm Front.

I suggest: renaming the whole page to Monogatari Series, making a separate page for every work in the series.

Renaming it would be fine, as that is what it is called. But I dont see how making a page for each book will work as even each anime season has multiple books, each one ended up 2 to 15 episodes depending on the book, and the contiguous plotline with some points moved between arcs which would make trope placement impossible it would be like dividing up Haruhi by novel, which just wont work.

Maybe rename to Monogatari Series and split to pages A-Z if the trope list goes too long?

Cutting and pasting all the content will remove the whole edit history, which I don't like. Can a mod do that with wiki magic?

No, the page history cannot be split. It remains attached to the original page.
