It so is.
Anyone know if John Wick inspired cosplay, like in conventions or Hallowe'en?
I mean I wouldn't think so. I mean he's basically a bearded man in a nice suit. I guess someone could wear a suit and bring their beagle with them and claim to be cosplaying John Wick.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!
His beard is meant to emphasise his face so it looks like a skull.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleYeah I noticed it when I watched it. His face is shaped like the upper half of a skull due the beard.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I noticed it when I got told about it.
I was too busy looking at him cutting down the world's supply of Russian mooks to study his face much.

Here's more than you probably wanted to know about John Wick and his sartorial equipment - re. suits.

As soon as I noticed that, I was telling pretty much everyone I could think of about it. Including posting it on the tropes page.
Because it's one of those things that I really loved about the movie, the little Show, Don't Tell moments that make perfect sense if you think about it, but if you don't, it's not like you feel like you're missing anything.
So yeah. I'm excited for a sequel, but I think all-in-all, I don't want a full-on franchise made out of it. The first movie was more or less perfection in my eyes... everything it does do, it did nearly flawlessly. And I cannot envision it maintaining such a high level of quality.
Incidentally, I cannot believe that until today the character page didn't have an entry for Daisy. I am ashamed.

Who is Wick hunting this time?
Lawrence Fishburne?
Oh it wasn't Keira Knightley. Sure looked like her in the first shot though.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!The teaser is very foggy about it, so we don't know who he's after. The official synopsis states:
So basically someone wants to take over the Assassin Guild and Wick has to help him. It's unclear if that former associate is Winston or The Bowler King (Laurence Fishburne's character).
From what we know of Wick, it's most likely Winston, and Bowler King might be the main antagonist.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I thought the main antagonist was Ruby Rose's character.
Panel said Ruby was working for the mastermind.
I believe it's the same dog as the one he rescued from the pound at the end of the first film.
I am looking forward to this oh so much. I hope they go into a bit more of the world - not everything, mind, but peel back some layers to reveal even more.
I was pretty hype, then I saw Laurence Fishburne and got really hype.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.John Wick Eye for an Eye VR game shown off at ComicCon
To give it it’s full title, John Wick Chronicles: An Eye for an Eye, the game puts you in the shoes of the legendary assassin, taking on a number of enemies in roomscale locations, with plenty of cover and a wide variety of matt black weapons to fire. Although there are nods to previous Starbreeze developments, this one is very much in tune with the John Wick universe, so there’s that gritty neo-noir feel to its art style and setting.
While it’s hard to get a real feel of what a virtual reality game is like, comments from developers and the public who tried it, seem to suggest that it’s a fun experience. While the graphics don’t look anything too special when viewed in a 2D video, from past experience with VR shooters, we can imagine that it looks pretty fantastic when you’re in there.
Although potentially this could be made compatible with the Oculus Touch, for now the game is only listed as supporting the HTC Vive.
Set for release in February alongside the new movie, John Wick: Chapter 2, Starbreeze’s VR take on the universe can be pre-ordered now and if you do so, you get a free copy of Payday 2 and a John Wick weapon pack.

Kit Guru Says: This looks pretty fun. While it may turn out to be a location based wave shooter, if it captures the feel of John Wick, I’m more than ready go gun down some dog killers and those that protect them.
Also, they announced the names of Ruby Rose's (the mute female hitman) character: Ares.
This film just keeps getting better.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Wait, seriously? Her name is Ruby Rose?
So, that's interesting. We had Charon in the original, now we've got an Ares. And Winston's actor refers to his character as a Titan (in the Classical Mythology sense) of the setting. I wonder if the actor was alluding to some information about the setting that wasn't made apparent to the audience.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Model, according to Wikipedia.
Ceterum censeo Morbillivirum esse eradicandum. It could be a hint that this chapter's plot is gonna be a Whole-Plot Reference to one of the classical myths, or at least referencing a bare bones version of a myth.
The classical mythology/religion motifs are pretty widespread throughout "John Wick", so I'm not surprised the sequel is keeping them up.
As mentioned the conscierge of the Continental Hotel is called Charon, the ferryman of the boat that travels the underworld, and he represents John Wick entering the criminal underworld. Charon's metaphor is stretched out by the fact the main currency in this "underworld" consists of golden coins much like the ones traditionally paid to Charon as a price for his boat trip in Greek mythology, which symbolically refers to how the characters traverse a world of death, being hitmen and all.
Winston is a "god of justice" type of guy whose job is to enforce the rules of nature in this death world.
Wick himself is referred to as "the Boogeyman"/"Baba Yaga", which isn't mythology but folklore, but still characters allude to him in borderline religious terms almost as if he's the actual grim reaper, something empathized by his skull-shaped face. Iosef and Kiril even share a dialogue that goes "You're afraid of the boogeyman? I'm not." "You should be." which directly preceeds John Wick arriving and butchering everything in his sight almost like an angry god smiting them down due Iosef's blasphemy.
Viggo and Iosef's relationship and dramatic arc (blood ties, idiot son's mistakes snowball into the father's downfall) echoes Greek mythology where gods having to deal with the stupidity of their sons is a running theme, as well as divine family relationships escalating otherwise fairly simple conflicts (like Wick just wanting to kill Iosef for having killed his dog and stolen his car. The movie's entire bloodbath is because he's Viggo's son).
The trailer for Chapter 2 keeps up the symbolism with a character named Ares, the Rome setting (i.e the heart of the Catholic Church, for example) and the choice of music being a remixed Gregorian chanting which vives off the "modern-day mythology" vibes.
So John Wick is basically a criminal mythology. The plot of the first film gives off shades of a divine retribution sort of deal (Iosef disrespected the God of Death, and he's now going to wipe out everyone for this blasphemy) while the second seems to be a Ragnarok-ish sort of thing where it's the twilight of the old gods, the Continental is at war.
There's a video detailing the mythology allusions but I can't find it.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Very well said, only one minor correction.
"Wick himself is referred to as "the Boogeyman"/"Baba Yaga","
That's not correct, John Wick is the guy who you send to kill the fucking boogeyman! :P
That suit is epic.
