I just straight up didn't get the reference cuz I didn't realize that was a real band. But I had the pride sketch for "niche intercommunity humor" so it evens out.

Chappelle wins the entire season, again:

Posted two weeks ago: Cast and crew on filming Season 46 in lockdown.

Takeaways:

• While filming one of the preshot music videos they had a COVID scare and the building was evacuated while everything was sanitized
• Very little off-camera interaction, daily testing, table reads looked like Model UN
• One person does the quick makeup/wardrobe changes per cast member (vs. an army of hair and makeup artists)

Season 47 will be back October 2.

Wonder if they'll do anything for Norm Mac Donald this weekend. Showing his 1999 hosting gig is most likely, or they could throw together a "best of".

They did a tribute to Norm in the latest Weekend Update segment.

Can we talk about how scary good James Austin Johnson is at political impersonations so far? His Biden was great and his Trump is scary good (and a convenient way to avoid bringing Baldwin back in for the time being). The only downside is that he's so good at nailing their mannerisms that he doesn't play them up for comedy as much as he could.

Several sketches for the Millennials this week. One about the Black Eyed Peas, one about a guy who invested in Beanie Babies, and one about a commercial from 2004 that I managed to still remember.

Lizzo was such a great host. She seemed so comfortable with the cast. I saw people complain about cue card reading but I didn't notice it because her delivery was so solid and energetic. I was surprised to hear she hadn't really done comedy before.

....so....the whole thing with Elmo and Rocko got me and my bro to look up the entire thing on Youtube.

Man, Elmo was really beefing.

This Abraham H. Parnassus character I'm reading about, he's just a ripoff of Mr. Burns?

Pretty sure he's a reference to There Will Be Blood.
