I was responding to a friend who criticized my comment that the Disneyfication of female role models could actually do some good in attracting young girls to read about them and I invoked ValueTales, a series of children's books that depicted various famous people in 20 pages with cartoonish illustrations that nonetheless gave me a surprisingly great understanding of the historical figures (sure, they left out some of the more negative bits of the figures in the process, but still, little kids and all that). Anyone else remember reading these various "The Value of X" books?

Yes I do. Read a bunch of them when I was younger and have been looking for some to give to my niece now that she's old enough to want to read on her own.

Surprised the tales don't have a page
