Read the last issue of Unicron We were correct Optimus didn't make it (and Starscream and Soundwave and Ironhide...) but at least we got to see Rung one last time.
I've been wanting to read these comics for a while now, and I figured since they're rebooting the comic in a couple of months, now's a good time to get caught up.
Are the "IDW Collections" a good way to read the story? And do they include everything?
Indeed they do.
Alright, thanks. I'll get to reading those soon.
It takes place before the war, when Cybertron was a thriving interstellar hub whose peace is broken by the first murder in living memory.
Color me intrigued.

The new series begins today!
Transformers #1
Bleh. Absolutely nothing happens this issue until the final page and there's not enough character interaction that carried books like Lost Light. Only highlight was Rubble.
I'm giving it another issue, since I figure this'll be better read in chunks.
I enjoyed the first issue. It wasn't as innovative as the last time IDW launched the Transformers and gave us the galaxy-wide war for resources, dead Cybertron and the six stage infiltration, but it was enjoyable for what it was. I had dropped both RID/Transformers and MTMTE/Lost Light a few years back. I just did not like either series despite strong starts for both, and I feel the post-war setting, despite seemingly full of potential, was a major mistake. So this reboot comes at a good time, and I hope they manage to do something quite different than what they just ended.
It's by the numbers pre-war Transformers, but it can still be good. It's too early to tell at this point.

If you ask me, Hasbro reboots G1 a bit too much these days.
Could we get some more expanded universe material for Transformers: Animated?
There's still a well of untapped potential there.
Save a possible revival for the television or the internet streaming services.
I want to have more comics about Animated's Great War.
Interesting how many crossovers there are recently , Star Trek vs. Transformers, Transformers/Ghostbusters and Transformers vs. the Terminator, I wonder why that is
Though I must admit Starscream's ghost deciding midway between swearing revenge that they have ghosting equipment and he is free from Megatron to just run away instead is good fun

IDW likes their crossovers.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Presumably this is their way of bringing in a new audience, since IDW is hemorrhaging money at a record pace to the point people are questioning their solvency thanks to the current situation.
That's a shame. I love TMNT.
I am enjoying the Sonic comic.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Seconded. They should do a Transformers/Sonic comic some time in the future.
I read the second issue of the Terminator crossover and I so far like where it is going. I do like most of the crossover comics and some franchises that I'd like to see Transformers interact with would be Tmnt, Doctor Who, Power Rangers, Robocop and Alien vs Predator. The comic licenses for the first two are already held by IDW so it shouldn't be too difficult.
The first 12-issue collection of the reboot is on sale on CMX. Worth a bite?
I bought it and then found out that there's a scene in which police violence is presented as heroic. Whoops.
(The creative team then apologized)

What if Transformers has a crossover with the Powerpuff Girls next? (IDW does comics for PPG too)
T'is a shame.
While many were annoyed at them basically re-telling the war again, I did kinda like that they course corrected on a lot of the things they did in their last continuity.
The Cybertron of the second IDW continuity is so corrupt and evil that you wonder why anyone would even want to save it, with the Autobots serving in that regime.
And from what I can tell, Cybertron and it's people aren't hated by everyone everywhere.
Most importantly, while the Autobots still aren't perfect, they are the good guys in this series more than anything. Prowl in particular, isn't a cold manipulator who's hated by nearly everyone.
I kinda wanted to see where the universe would go, and how they'd reconstructed a lot of the stuff they deconstructed in their old continuity.
One Strip! One Strip!
yeah that was the plan that the magnificence had except instead of targetting the inner spots to blow it up, they targetted the outside to make it reset. they opened the matrices, and used the energy to activate all 12 hotspots at once.
