Apparently Haruki's voice actor is (Apropriately enough) gonna be Zeno Robinson who is rapidly becoming a favorite of mine.

Sean Schemmel is Zero in this holy crud. Really appropriate if you ask me, how else do you communicate to people that Zero's the big cheese of a new generation of heroes? Have him voiced by Goku!

We got the poster for Ultraman Blazar at last:

And now we know that the team's captain is the one who becomes an Ultraman, a break of the old trends of it always being a rookie or normal team member. And we get a peak at the new mecha and a new kaiju enemy

And here's the trailer.

They're making a big deal about The Hero and The Captain being the same guy. There are definitely some neat things they can do with the concept, wonder if he'll actually give orders to his mecha companions while Ultra'd? The suit definitely looks cool too.

More invested in the English Simuldub! Especially if they keep the quality high like with the Z dub.

Speaking of which, here's episode 2 of that.

Looks like it'll be a lot like Nexus in terms of tone going from the synopsis and plot descriptions

They had some trouble with the English Voice Track the first day but it's fixed now.

JYB was a sublime choice.

People are calling Blazar a "Caveman" Ultra. Despite his look he has a really primal fighting style and mannerisms.

(Basically, I heard the ID version already has the opening since the 1st episode, which their channel just aired today, literally one day before the opening is shown in Japan lol)

I knew Tsuburaya was fairly chill about fan stuff, at least more than Toei or Toho tend to be (letting a bunch of their back catalogue remain on youtube last I checked, for instance), so that's cool to hear.

...well, maybe it's not so much 'chill' as pragmatism and a desire not to shoot their export efforts in the foot, but the end result is positive all the same.

Blazar episode 2 is out. SKaRD forms properly, and while they are an elite hand-picked squad they're still some odd characters. They've got a nice dynamic going on, interested in seeing them developed further. Also a very fun fight scene, with Blazar fishing up Gedos and at the end we get a sneak look at Earth Garon.

Also listened to the dub, and while it does feel kinda weird it's not bad, certainly a good option for anyone who can't manage/doesn't want subs.

I generally prefer Dubs to Subs. If only because I watch a lot of subs since they're usually the only option. And this is a damn good dub. Everyone's well cast and they do their jobs right.

The character of Emi is also fun, which is interesting because she seemed like a pure Emotionless Girl in the debut episode. She definitely has her work/life balance sorted out.

Also... Amazing how much characterization they're able to wring out of getting the crew to sign documents.

Well, the show's come to an end and we got all sorts of remarkable stuff from it which hopefully will become more prominent moving forward.

Apparently the final episode of Blazar was meant to be as long as a movie but Taguchi and the writers had to compress a lot of stuff in the end

So... how are y'all feeling about all the new monsters Blazar gave us?

A bunch of new favorites came with them for sure, loved Bazanga, Nijikagachi, Deltandal, Gebalga and Varallon

The first one was called "Bazongas" but when I typed "Monster Bazongas" into google I just got a bunch of pictures of scantily-clad women what a ripoff.

But yeah, like pretty much every part of Blazar the monster design was on point.

Speaking of monsters, has anyone considered to add a few other Ultra kaiju into the Pantheon beyond Zetton, the Baltans and Greeza? Y'know, you have the heavy hitters like Gomora, Red King, Eleking so to speak. Obviously not every single monster because there's a shitload of them but rather the more prominent ones.

I have been semi-retired for now from the Pantheon because of college duties but the next week's gonna be free-ish so I might see if any other kaiju can ascend. I did sort-of-ascend-by-proxy Gomora, Litra and Eleking through Rei lol
