Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules (in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

For featured tropes that don't fit a specific theme, I usually use the Random Trope button to find a trope with a low wick count (not necessarily starving), though sometimes I've listed newer tropes that I already knew about, such as yesterday's featured trope being Ironically Disabled Artist, which I remembered because I participated in the 2021 TRS thread it was launched as part of the cleanup effort for (the one for Hook-Handed Pianist, which the current page image was moved over from). I mainly use indexes when I'm looking for a themed trope.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Jethro Q Walrustitty: The transformation-related tropes are all being sponsored by Another Epic Fail.
Welcome to Corneria!i hope it is just me being blind, but is there no canned notifier for 'you didn't use an edit reason, please use one'?
hail, holy queen of the sea, you're whirling-in-rags, you're vast and you're sad...There's one that's just called "Edit Reason", which covers it:
"Greetings. I notice that the edit you made on [page] doesn't have an appropriate edit reason. When making edits such as removing examples or rewriting large sections of the page, it is usually a good idea to provide a clear explanation. Other tropers may otherwise not have an idea of why you are doing this. Edit reasons are also not for venting or conversing with other tropers. Thanks for helping us keep the wiki cool."
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Purenessah, i was looking for 'no edit reason' lol
hail, holy queen of the sea, you're whirling-in-rags, you're vast and you're sadIs going to Trope Finder before making a TLP draft good practice?
INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.Ensuring the trope doesn't already exist is actually a requirement
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupReading old Wiki Talk threads is fascinating since a lot of the same issues people point out today were still things back in 2012 (the loss of "fun" titles, the insularity of TRS, stuff like that). History loops sometimes, lol.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Purenessagreed lol. i remember one thread where someone made a SPOON vs FORKS reference and only one person got it
i will say, i do like that we're a tighter experience, even though there were a lot of blood sweat n' tears. mostly tears.
hail, holy queen of the sea, you're whirling-in-rags, you're vast and you're sadThat's the thread I was reading! The crowner to remove the TABLE pages.
I'm fascinated by that era of TVT in particular because I missed all the drama and now I just uncover random relics but most of the actual conflict was wiped away. The only reason I even know what FORKS and SPOON are is that I did some deep-dives into this stuff. It also shocks me in particular that the debate started so early in history while we are still forced to get rid of "fun" titles and still have people that dread this each time a TRS thread opens. Other old debates have more or less been settled by now; nobody is out there advocating for Natter or trying to get fetish stuff on the wiki, but titles are still a hot issue.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIronically that thing isnt true anymore and I havent seen anyone make that comparison in a DECADE.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. The linked essay as to why Wikipedia isn't TVT, things nobody here would even think twice about, is hilarious to me. Something about breaking down random aspects of TVT with such matter-of-fact speech is funny, especially the term "overly detailed character pages" because it feels like shade. It astounds me that someone even saw the need to write such an essay. In 2022.

I'd like to apologize for all this. It's good I never check out TRS then.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.- I'm surprised that, as far as I can see, the We Are Not Alone Index is unmentioned?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576It's linked at the bottom now.
Was the essay on Wikipedia written in 2022, or did the troper writing the Troper's Law page notice its existence in 2022? Because I don't see an indication on the Wikipedia page when it was written.
"He betrayed the Staaarks" is not the only problem here.- https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?action=history&title=Wikipedia:Wikipedia_is_not_TV_Tropes
Seems like it, but yeah, I thought it was older? Talk: didn't help.
I know https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not is older.

Speaking of the Wild West... nothing illustrates how stupid tropers could be back then, better than that "Sonic Syndrome" page.
Also, what was "Up To Eleven" supposed to be? Just Administrivia/Sinkhole bait?
Oo oo ah ahWhat was Sonic Syndrome about?
Ultimately, Exactly What It Says on the Tin went on to surpass Up To Eleven in sinkhole levels. It's already in the TRS Queue and cleaning it up is going to be a Sisyphean ordeal, with over 25000 wicks.
Sonic Syndrome, currently known as Video Game 3D Leap
Up To Eleven is generally another name for Exaggerated Trope

I just get a vague monthly theme in mind and search relevant indexes for old, low-wick tropes.
