Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules (in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

One thing I've noticed about this site is that I'm always drunk when I post here. ALWAYS.
Why's it matter how long the trope pages are? It's no one's fault how many tropes apply to characters.
Can't speak for anyone else, but I don't like "jokes" from people I don't know and can't see or hear. And I don't make any.

The problem comes when you're forcing it, jamming it with tons of character that do nothing but appear in the background.
Honestly, we should have a rule with character sheets that only the notable characters get their own sections. Maybe all the other characters can be lumped together into an "Other" or "Periphery Characters" section.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Due to the size of the community, things you say can be over seen quite easily.
Observation about the wiki? Everything has underlying Ho Yay. EVERYTHING.
Either I'm not reading between the lines close enough, or every other troper is looking too hard.
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)Definitely the latter.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. This thread pretty accurately describes why I no longer watch FIM or take part in the community.
You need an adult.I stopped a few episodes into season two after sort of checking out the community and I'm struggling to go back to it myself. :S
YUUGI WANTS YOU FOR DRINKING BUDDYI prefer not to let fandoms stop me from enjoying something I like.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.I prefer to not let a few people in a fandom stop me from enjoying the work or the fandom as a whole.
Same.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. The same people post and reply to each others' post like a Ground Hog Day Loop.
Everything is a lie. This is late but Odd, I feel the exact same way about the insecurity thread.
People like to show off how much they now about certain topics, especially in trope descriptions. I'm okay with it in Useful Notes (obviously), but this is TV tropes, not Wikipedia. I've cleaned up 3 different pages for this. Universal Universe Time had paragraphs about particle physics or whatever, Satan had paragraphs about the etymology of the word Satan, and Driving Stick was teaching people about driving stick-shift. Listen, if you're going to TV tropes for information about particle physics, theology and driving, that's the wrong place.
I don't do that at all. Now let me explain to you why Einstein's theory of relativity shows how wrong that is while singing about it to the tune of "Across the Universe".
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. The fandom for FIM is out of control, IMO. There are plenty of works I enjoy that have Fan Dumbs, but that's the only one I find really irritating. Worse than the Star Wars fandom, even—because everyone's just sort of accepted that the Star Wars fan base is unpleasable. Not to cast aspersions on bronies who aren't raving lunatics.
Also, on the topic of TVT-relevant information: I actually do scientific research here, and I've learned a lot. It's perfect for someone of my level of understanding of heavy topics like quantum physics. Wikipedia is not at all layman-friendly; TVT strikes the balance between providing useful factual information and watering down the tough stuff for the idiots like me.

You need an adult.Works pages tend to have a fair bit of gushing sometimes.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference. The lack of formality can get annoying in some articles.
There's nothing wrong with it, but people assume that "informal" is an excuse for poorly written sometimes. I know the whole "edit, don't complain" thing, but that's kinda hard to do when you run across something like that in an article of something you know nothing about.

People can be too sensitive at times. The wiki is nice because people edit mistakes and tell you how to correct them. YKTTW is always fun since you get so see tropes being launched and you can say "Hey! I knew that before it was a trope!"
Everything is a lie.Can you point me to such an article? Honestly curious. I know I've seen it, but I can't put my finger on it right now.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerNot right now, like, I mean that generally. If I looked around the wiki for a bit I would be able to point something out, just nothing specially comes to mind.
I know on YKTTW some articles can get launched even with the worst grammar ever. Some tropes actually didn't get complaints on the description, but end up getting edited like crazy once launched.

Everything is a lie. There's a noticeable opinion dissonance between a work page and the forum thread for that work, if it exists.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference. In terms of references or shout outs, people seem to think that the term "trope" means they're referring to this site.
I treat all living things equally. That is to say, I eat all living things
I can only imagine if we had pages for every Star Wars character, no matter how miniscule their role or for how long they appeared. That'd be thousands of different pages, probably.
