Regardless of that, it's still a sign of something gathering attention.

It's honestly dismissive by describing it like that.

[up] I mean a lot of hack youtbers and their audiences talk about RWBY and they sure as hell don't like it.

Again, doesn't negate the point.

On a different note, I was rewatching some of the series again. I remember liking volume 4 and watching it again found it was still pretty good. However, I got a you tube recommendation for a fan version of volume 4 that basically just focused on Ruby and JRN's journey and it was really good and overall a vast improvement to the volume.

Having the narrative just focus on them really improved the pacing and made me appreciate the character work with the team. Removing all the cutaways, let me focus on the good voice work and direction. Ruby in particular benefited because you can really hear how she goes from hopeful to desperate as Crow's situation gets worse.

It also made the narrative a lot more dramatic. Having the audience get introduced to Tyrian with just a few seconds of foreshadowing as he runs to attack the heroes really works. And finding out about Salem via Tyrian with the main characters was really cool. It also makes Salem's appearance at the very end over Ruby's narration a lot creepier while still giving the audience everything they need to put the pieces together about who she is and her connection to Cinder. RWBY really did have great character work, voice acting, and story beats. Yet, also it was held back sometimes by pacing and story boarding.

So if Rooster Teeth goes down, where can I watch RWBY?

The only one I could think of is Crunchyroll from where I saw or other sites to see the show from my knowledge.

I’m regretting not continuing to buy blu rays past volume 6

BTW, did Glynda ever appear in RWBY Chibi?

No, the assumption is we got Winter to fill that role, as Glynda’s VA had burned her bridges with RT by that point.

That is what happened with the voice actor for Winter in RT sadly.

Err, what? Elizabeth Maxwell has been Winter’s voice actress for the entire franchise. She also reprised Nikki in the last season of Camp Camp so she was still on good terms with RT when it started shuttering.

Got a question, why are some of Jaune's tropes listed in the rusted knight folder? That folder treats the Rusted Knight like he's a separate character? It even has a separate first appearance thing say he debuted in Volume 9.

[up] Because the page seems to think that the Rusted Knight wasn't Jaune until he used the clockwork orange.

I loved that bit in RWBY Chibi where Nora is just mindlessly bonking Ren over the head with her hammer.

Err, what? Elizabeth Maxwell has been Winter’s voice actress for the entire franchise.

Probably referring to Sheena Duquette. Shane's letter mentioned that Winter was made in her likeness, and Sheena would voice her, before Monty's death and Sheena was pushed out of the picture.

Shaoken Since: Jan, 2001
#80692: Mar 15th 2024 at 1:51:30 AM

Of course we only have Shane's word for that, and considering he thought Yuri Lobethal was just a temp voice and not recognising him as a famous voice actor, and that Monty would betray Miles and Kerry and form an independent company with Shane to make RWBY or how Shane was the only one who knew what Monty wanted and not the people Monty picked to helm the show with him, his word isn't worth the metaphorical paper his letter was written on

I'm not going to dismiss his letter outright when Sheena retweeted it

Shaoken Since: Jan, 2001

A retweet is an incredibly vague thing to interpret, especially since she was never apart of CRWBY and was friends with Shane.

#80695: Mar 15th 2024 at 2:25:37 AM

I mean, she was involved with her husband and, presumably, herself. I don't think I'd ever take a retweet to mean "yeah these parts about me are 100% false but ur my friend"

She could be dishonest, he could be dishonest. I definitely don't take the entire letter at face value as it doesn't ring true to me having read it. But it honestly seems equally implausible for the entire thing to be fictitious, and I'd rather give them some benefit of the doubt.

Gaogaigar54 Since: Jan, 2020
#80696: Mar 15th 2024 at 6:34:05 AM

[up]There are lots of issues with the letter.

1:The vast majority of things that are framed as great crimes in the letter, really aren't. As in the things described aren't especially bad for the most part and can only come off that way because the letter acts like they are.

2: The letter makes Sheena out to have been this big creative support for Monty from the start (eg before Miles and Kerry or any of the other RT staff) and how no one other than her could have understood what Monty had originally planed. But she didn't even meet Monty until after RWBY had already begun airing. And was never involved in RWBY in any official or real capacity.

3: Monty leaving RT and taking RWBY with him to his own independent studio, would be flat out right impossible. The fact that RT could carry on with RWBY after his death with no apparent need for permission from his estate or not getting the pants sued off them, means that they owned the IP. Monty would never be able to take RWBY elsewhere even if he wanted to.

let's not start another thread about shane and that letter. It's been like 7 years (oh god that long)

And all this started because someone said that Winter's actress had been changed.

Although seriously, every time there's bad news or rumours someone somewhere yells "Shane was right" and it's gotten old fast.

Saiga (4 Score & 7 Years Ago) Relationship Status: Getting away with murder
#80699: Mar 15th 2024 at 6:47:18 PM

That's not what happened, though.

Shaoken Since: Jan, 2001
#80700: Mar 15th 2024 at 9:27:41 PM

Yes that's exactly what did happen. Echidna said Winter's voice actress had burned bridges with RT, I pointed out that no Winter's VA was still recording stuff for RT up until the closure announcement. You tied in Shane's letter that Sheena was supposed to be the original VA which we only have his word for (and given that he left his wife and children to support Sheena he's far from unbiased).

If you were referring to "Although seriously, every time there's bad news or rumours someone somewhere yells "Shane was right" and it's gotten old fast" that's also true. It hasn't always happened here in this thread (although it has happened more times than it should) but it pops up on the reddit and Twitter annoyingly often.
