Watched Wish (2023) a few weeks ago. I had been curious about it for a while, but waited for it to come on Disney+ because I didn't want to shell out $20 for something I expected to be mediocre.

It was indeed mediocre.

Watched Chicago a few days ago, and now I think it's one of my favourite musicals. The acting is incredible and the songs are fantastic (with 'We both reached for the Gun' being my favourite).

After watching Really Love, I watched Orion and the Dark, and I can say... even though this movie was confusing (since I'm still confused if Night Entities are characters made up by Orion or they're Real After All) I ended up liking it due to its animation, characters and plot. Definitely recommend this movie.

Random thought: in Polish dub, Unexplained Noises and Sleep are voiced by voice actresses of Princess Luna and Applejack in the Polish dub of MLP. And given how those two Night Entities are shipped with each other, does that could mean that Lunajack is canon?

It's been a few months since I saw a movie, but tonight I saw Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. It was pretty cool! I think it continued the events of Ghostbusters: Afterlife well, and I'm interested in seeing another film in the series sometime.

The theater I was seeing it at was unfortunately having some small technical difficulties and they were initially planning on turning the movie off at some point, but they didn't (I guess because some other people in the theater really wanted to see it, and the technical difficulties weren't too bad). Either way, the theater gave us free passes to see another movie, so I'm cool with that.

Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.

Saw two films recently.

The first was the The Mummy (1959). It was pretty good, not especially scary by today's standards but well-acted and fun. I was surprised how much humanity Christopher Lee managed to add to the title role, even when bandaged up, and of course made him into a threatening villain.

I also watched a horror/thriller film called A Nightmare Wakes about Mary Shelley. The film was fine, not very scary and a tad confusing but there were some good ideas. Alix Wilton Regan (of Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition fame) played Mary Shelley, and that was a real She Really Can Act moment for me. I always knew she was a great voice actor, but in this film she showed how great of a live action actor she is as well: portraying Mary Shelley's fear and sadness very well, as well as having a degree of something sinister to her performance (fitting for the author of Frankenstein).

Finally got to watch Dune: Part Two last Saturday. Right now I'm taking a break from studying and work and watching Adam Green's Hatchet II.

Oscar (1991). I've seen it before, and I really enjoy it. I know it bombed when it came out, but I think that's largely due to the fact that at the time, people weren't prepared to see Sylvester Stallone in a comedic role. He was Rambo and Rocky. They saw him as an action hero. But I'd seen Stallone years before on an episode of The Muppet Show and he had good comedic chops, even then. So I was willing to give Oscar a chance. And it's a fun comedy of errors, though you do have to be paying attention to who's where and at what times in order to follow some of it.

You gonna eat that?

the new garfield movie thanks to it coming out eairlier in Mexico, it was ok, actually pretty decent, nothing amazing but not like I was expecting high art, after the bill Murray movies, there was little room to go but up.

Spaceballs. I think I did this last time May 4 hit me unprepared and a Disney+ subscription wasn't in the budget. Plus I also watched Alien in a theater and was reminded of the scene that spoofed the chestburster scene - and it occurred to me that the self-destruct countdown bit near the end was probably also supposed to be a parody of something else that happened in Alien.

She Freak. Basically an unofficial 1960s remake of Freaks, so if you're familiar with that movie you'll recognize the similarities and figure out how it ends. And if you haven't already seen that movie, you'll figure out how it ends because every copy of it seems to use a Spoiler Cover (and even the title is kind of a giveaway). That said, the makeup effects at the end are pretty much the highlight, though the gratuitous stock footage of the actual 1960s carnival they used for the setting is kind of an interesting time capsule.

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. The local White Castle was promoting the movie for its 20th anniversary, so I thought I'd go check it out — I really enjoyed it!
