Dune (2021), because a friend wants to take me to see the sequel when it comes out soon, but I'd told her I've only seen Dune (1984) (and read the original book once).
...But I was going to post in here earlier when it was Slumber Party Massacre II, which is kind of a guilty pleasure uh, supernatural horor slasher semi-musical. The first time I saw it was a midnight screening and I thought it was just plain weird, and with subsequent views I think I've figured out the context as to why it might be that way - it seems like they wanted to 1) sequelize the original movie (which had no songs or supernatural elements, just some crazy middle aged guy terrorizing teen girls with a drill), 2) cash in on the still hot Nightmare on Elm Street franchise (the killer suddenly exhibits Freddy-like powers and tendencies to crack bad jokes), and 3) cash in on "rock movies" and/or MTV when it was still known for showing music videos (the teen girl protagonists have kind of a The Go-Go's / The Bangles style pop rock garage band and play a couple of songs, the killer is now younger, cuter, has a freakin' drill guitar and sings a couple of rockabilly style villain songs while chasing his victims).

Turning Red, my theater was showing it one last time today (and it's been my third theatrical viewing total); this movie is what got me heavily into Asian culture, although mine is steering more into Japanese than Chinese.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned. It's probably still my favourite "superhero" movie if you can call it that. It's a very refreshing take on the genre and has only aged better due to said genre's overabundance and unwillingness to change. Not all of it works, especially with how off-colour and sadistic it can be. Its juxtaposition is downright hilarious; I burst out laughing on multiple occasions.

‘’Rango’’ on a Discord server. Still fun after all these years, also I find it very interesting that for a movie about talking, walking animals, the animals look less cute and the setting is dirty.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned. It's crazy how different it is from the sequels. XD
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Much like the titular maze: it gives a very silly first impression, but from inside it turns out to actually be much deeper, more personal, and very silly. I love it.
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable‘’The Powerpuff Girls Movie’’ on Discord (again); fun little romp for a TV series-based movie, even though it was curb-stomped by ‘’Men in Black II’’ and ‘’Lilo & Stitch’’.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.Hi everyone, new troper here and this my first post on this discussion.
The movie that I recently watched (on Friday, February 23, to be precise) was Really Love. Set in Washington, D.C., the film centers on the romance between a struggling artist and an ambitious law student. The movie reminded me of Desert Flower in many aspects - both have very similar score, a sympathetic Black female lead with whom you can identify, supportive friend of the main protagonist and Will They or Won't They? ending. Besides previously mentioned aspects, I also like this movie for positively portraying black community, with both Main Couple and Beta Couple being decent folks (I'm still wondering why there is no trope centering around friendliness of black people), the main romance being very healthy (of course before going down hill) and the fact you can understand both of the main characters, making this movie unique, because it's one of the few movies where Both Sides Have a Point in this type of drama.

If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.poor things, it was really weird but really good, keep it mind it's pretty disturbing and mature so only watch it if you're an adult and not squimish.
Bubba Ho Tep. Very excellent horror comedy. Like a lot of movies that didn't well financially, it's free on Tubi.
Tropic Thunder. Interesting time capsule of 2000's culture. Felt like there was some lost potential in the satire.
The Death of Stalin. Only missed the actual anniversary by a day.
My Little Pony: The Movie (2017). Funny how I lost interest in the show midway through season 3, yet I managed to see this in theaters when it first came out, and managed to follow the story without needing a brain full of continuity first. More movies based on TV shows or any long-running media should do this sort of thing.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Without spoiling too much, I wasn't expecting a decent amount of the third act to even be a thing in this film.
Help me. I can't get it out of my head.I saw Titan A.E. for the first time on a Discord server, pretty good but I think it would've done better if it were aimed at a purely PG-13 audience instead of being uncertain.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.Watched They Cloned Tyrone. I have to give it to the movie, at the end I was "wait, the protagonist was never called Tyrone" and then The Stinger hit.
All in all, I did like it, but I do think the conspiracy plot was a bit formulaic. I also felt the commentary was a bit on the nose. Gorgeously shot, lot of great performances, and the music was hitting. But I think Sorry to Bother You is a better film about similar topics.
I showed the original King Kong to my folks. My dad was too antsy, my mom had a really good time. Despite the misogyny and bland characters, 90 years later, it’s still a marvel. I found it very entertaining in that aspect.
Kung Fu Panda 4. I went in there and genuinely enjoyed the movie. Then I went to Youtube and I started seeing a multitude of videos that openly criticize it. It's not that I care what people think of it, it's just that... repeatedly seeing some version of "KFP4 sucks" makes me feel kind of bad because this tells me I have bad taste due to unironically liking what multiple people say is a horrible movie, so it's not very easy for me to ignore. Although to be fair I didn't exactly keep up with the franchise so I might not fully understand where such a vehement dislike comes from.
Eh, don't worry about it. Everyone sees and enjoys things differently. Like how I said I loved "Turning Red" but one person says it's as terrible as the animated DoorDash or GrubHub commercials. That's why we have a block button on most sites.
As for me, last night I watched Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken on Discord, and tonight we're scheduled for Migration.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.Kung fu panda 4 was a good movie I think people are just hating on it because they have extremely high standards for the franchise, if it was a madagascar movie to put an example, people wouldn't be as hard on it.
Watched the original Godzilla and the original Gamera with my mom.
Godzilla we really enjoyed. Its lore and stature are condensed creating strong emotions. We found Gamera annoying and too ambitious. I don’t like it anymore but I cannot deny its importance.

Ghostwatch. This was pretty neat, though I do get the impression that you had to be there when it was being presented in the style of a "live program" to be really scared of it - or at very least be familiar with circa 1992 BBC TV presenters, as their presence is supposed to lend realism and/or make it more surprising that it gets pretty dark as it goes on. The one person I recognized straight off was Craig Charles, and that gave me a little grounding in the latter effect - like, how scary is something going to be if Lister is in it? I also might want to watch it again because the article notes certain Easter Eggs I missed.

Immaculate. This hasn't gotten a wide release yet but it was part of a local film festival, and a friend brought me along. It was pretty good - Sydney Sweeney as a young nun in an intense Religious Horror film with kind of a weird twist. We came up with kind of a funny "X Meets Y" tagline that won't make any sense until you see the movie, but I'm spoiler tagging anyway: Rosemary's Baby meets Jurassic Park

I want to say Everest Pictures' reimagining of The Last Jedi, but if fan films don't count, then for certain The Flash last summer.
