You never know... In pretty much every chorus, you'll get a leture on "Perfume: No. Deodorant: Yes" — and a lot of people need that lecture. Could be useful information for visitors. Ship Life: Dos and Don'ts. ;)
Mona: Happy socks. You don't really want to know.
Who watches the watchmen?I don't think I ever posted in this thread, despite having it on my watchlist and lurking for a while, but I am here posting now, I suppose. I am currently in between writing query letters to agents and what not. It's been... an experience. But it also means I'm one step closer to doing the thing I've always wanted to do.

Read my stories!AHR: Ooh good luck. Let us know if something good happens.
Who watches the watchmen?I will. I sent one out so far. I know I should be sending dozens, but I can't bring myself to do it. And this one guarantees a reply in 3 weeks, so it's not that bad of a wait time. I'll wait, get rejected, and then after realizing the process didn't murder me, I'll hopefully be in the right mindset to do it a dozen more times.
Read my stories!Blue — But seriously, you could write about privacy.
Tuef — Yeeeaah, I can make a guess about that. Also, ew for whoever does laundry.
When the boat is active, there's a lot of ambient noise - the engines are sending vibrations through the hull, the ventilation system is blowing, whines from electronic transformers. On top of that add normal people noise, like footsteps, or opening lockers or doors; and then with it being an aircraft carrier, it gets even louder when we're actually doing flight operations and you have fighter jets running afterburnersnote and the various bangs and thuds of the catapult and arresting systems. So with all that noise, even if you're in a quieter berthing, unless you're moaning or otherwise making a lot of noise, people aren't going to know when you're jerking off.
See, all of that was interesting and news to me. I think you could do a lot just explaining day to day life. Perhaps a guide: "What's That Noise?"
There's material for more serious essays, too — I could see potential for great comraderie, but at least equal potential for overwhelm and loneliness.
Got rejected on my first query letter. Sent out an additional two, and just yesterday sent out another 3.
God I hate the waiting game.
Read my stories!I'm working today, and I have just given myself an intense craving for a chicken pot pie.
None of the writing guides warned me about this.
Recently I find myself gravitating towards writing historical stories, particularly set around World War 2.

Anyone want to read a few paragraphs of smutty smut and give me a cringe rating...? It's short enough that I can send it in a PM.
It's not actually erotica. The goal is to be real, rather than titillating, and it's necessary to some extent. It's character building, and it sets up growth later on. Plus, I kinda hate it when books just fade to black.
(I accidentally posted this in the COB literary forum instead. Apologies to anyone seeing this twice.)
Eh, sure, hit me.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswThanks!
I'd also love to get a woman's point of view... You know, before I send it off to people who come to my kids' birthday parties... :D
Um. Asexual. Any feedback I can give will not be median. :/
Hehe. Noted. You game, anyway...?
I am a bisexual woman! Send it over here!
I'm game, I guess. At the very least, I can grammar spot.
Thanks, Leradny.
Euo — As I said, the point is not to titillate. It's just to be real. The question isn't "Is this hot?" but "How embarassed would you be if your mother knew you wrote this?"... :D
Moot point: I might writhe in agony, but... Mum and Dad are only about half a decade younger than the Beatles and both were into the movement.
But, I get what you're saying: hit me.
Hahah, yeah, mine too... And yet. :D
I have been writing character concepts on detailed templates. I wish to share the concepts on another forum I frequent....
