I noticed lack of one general thread regarding Warhammer Fantasy, so I decided to create a one. :)

Not only Warhammer Fantasy Battle discussions welcomed, but also all things related to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (regardless of edition).

If anyone has questions regarding Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's second edition, feel free to ask since I own most of its sourcebooks.

Warhammer 40,000 has its own thread here

Time to make the angelic inspiration of the Stormcast more obvious with Prosecutors. I'm pretty sure people will use these models to convert Blood Angels characters and units with wings.

Another very good model, although the wings of light for the current Prosecutors were more angelic.

I am very torn on the new Stormcast. On the one hand the models are a lot more heavy and gothic looking, which is a look I love, but they have less of a magical high fantasy look, which is another look I love.

I kinda agree. The new Stormcast look more like they belong in the Grimdark Warhammer with their heavier aesthetic, while the earlier ones looked a bit too clean for the WHFB of old. The earlier Stormcast fit the look of Heroic Fantasy angels played straight, looking like they would be excellent Celestials in D&D. But the difference between AOS and WHFB is mainly that the Old World was relatively grounded, even with all the supernatural, while AOS seems to have a much more casual relationship with deities and the myths are more or less facual. In a setting where the deities are more easily approached and cosmic forces have a more obvious influence on daily life, making physics their plaything, there it makes sense for the Stormcast to look otherworldly and to stand out as angelic entities in contrast to the more mundane nature of the Empire or Cities of Sigmar. These new Stormcast look more like they fit the same daily life as Empire Militiamen and the like, which kinda makes them feel more like the man-made Space Marines than before.

I do think that giving them open helms is an improvement, but as I've mentioned before, I just really don't like those face helmets.

A few new articles on the Community, such as a retrospect of Grombrindal's different models from over the years, as well as an article on Spearheads as a new alternative playing-style to Vanguard. Grombrindal's upcoming model looks really nice and I like how much it resembles my favourite piece of artwork depicting the White Dwarf, more than the commemorative model of that time.

Another article offers intriguing possibilities for the future, with today's brief look at the Border Princes, with the promise of more focus on the region soon. I'm mostly looking forward to seeing customized warbands of converted Bretonnians and Empire-soldiers, representing the mercenaries recruited from the Border Princes. I'm also hopeful of seeing some classic Dogs of War models make a return, such as Oglah Khan's Wolfboyz, the Cursed Company, and Lucrezzia Belladonna, who I would use as a Vampire Countess.

I have the 200 issue one, the space marine one and the Blood Bowl one, although the BB one is the only one I have painted.

I'm not sure we will get them a they were as a lot of them were from further down the timeline. Lucrezzia was a historic character but I am not sure when from. I would like to see her rereleased though as I did like her model.

Double post for the latest Age of Sigmar preview on Warhammer Community, the new warplock jezzails. These look cool, I like the cut-out pavise.

Skaven have always been very fun in terms of visuals and backstory, even when the rules haven't helped them shine.

Liking the look of these.

These new Skaven keep looking great. I recently figured out what the art direction reminds me of: The creepy Gothic art of Ian Miller. AFAIK Miller made mostly art for 40K and WHFB-stuff that wasn't connected to the Skaven, but he did illustrate a graphic novel sequel to James Herbert's The Rats. The mutated rats for that project look remarkably Skaven-ish, and there is even a line of miniatures based on Miller's art.

Today on Warhammer Community, a preview of the previews later in the week with a Gryph Hound in a hat. Looks quite cool.

It looks like the Irish wolf-hound equivalent of whatever different breeds of Gryph-hound that might exist in AOS. It has a really cool appearance, looking from the neck down mostly like a noble hunting-dog, besides the unnaturally long talons. I might give it a head-swap, to create either something like a Barghest in D&D, or a vampire shape-shifted into a wolf.

Interesting to see them make the Stormcast look so much more Gothic now. The range as a whole is starting to resemble art for Mordheim. Many of these models would work excellent when converting undead characters, like vampires or Death Knights, because a few of them look quite a bit like Arthas Menethil. Some of them look also like they could be used to make Tzeentchian Chaos Warriors after some tweaking, especially that Lord-Vigilant, who would look marvelous with Ahriman's helmet.

The Skave are once again what I'm most of all interested in. They all look like Nuclear Mutants now, because the sculpt-work makes them extra gross compared to earlier iterations. Props for the fur looking so dirty, and the uneven teeth making them look diseased. I've also noticed that they look a bit less like real rodents than the 2010 version, with the longer snouts making them resemble mangy cartoon-weasels or opossums. In that way this iteration is getting a bit more similar to Mantic's Ratkin, who have a similar opossum-like design. I'm looking forward to converting and kitbashing some of these.

Ah, so the Ruination Chamber is sort of like a larger Black Company.

I also notice that a few of the new Clanrat sculpts are in the same pose as Glaivewraith Stalkers, so the two could be kitbashed together to make undead Skaven. The new Skaven all look dirty and diseased enough, so they ought to be very easy to convert into zombies.
