I noticed lack of one general thread regarding Warhammer Fantasy, so I decided to create a one. :)
Not only Warhammer Fantasy Battle discussions welcomed, but also all things related to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (regardless of edition).
If anyone has questions regarding Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's second edition, feel free to ask since I own most of its sourcebooks.
Warhammer 40,000 has its own thread here

Because mages with experience dating back before the rise of even the elves do not have that kind of power. Seriously, even second generation Slann can't do that.
I've got all this advice copied to an office file, now. Don't want to lose any of this. Mistakes are going to be expensive.
Also, I think the third army (if I ever get that far) is probably going to be Lizardmen. That is, if I get beyond facilitating the group and just build an army for me.

I don't know much about Lizardmen, unfortunately. Empire and High Elves are my wheelhouse.
And then I occasionally dabble in those wacky Frenchmen.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.I've had some Lizardmen experience, mostly in the form of losing games, and I haven't messed around much with their latest book, so I'm not going to be much help either.
Ah. Dang.
On the Empire, I think I'll have to buy this guy◊ purely as a mini for Pathfinder. Look at it. Its so perfect.
I pick some of these things for the dumbest reasons. I think the toppling point for picking Lizardmen was that they aren't evil. Which added up with 'ride dinosaurs' and 'are lizard people' to make me want that army.
EDIT: @math792d: does the Phoenix Guard come with the means to have a mage in it naturally, or am I going to have to splice in something from a different set. I'm trying to figure out how much I'm going to have to save to make this feasible, and that's going to factor in.
So far, for the Island of Blood, the books and your recommended units (with both lords less the dragon), I'm looking at $346.25. How necessary are the uniform & heraldry guides? I haven't added those, but I will if they're important.
Heh. Still cheaper than a PS 4.

Ok, now that i saw this threar, are going to review some books of fantasy that i have read, i will star with the genevine trilogy, starting of course with drachnelfs
Story:
So, the book start like a typical dugegon in the warhammer work: almost everyone dies really quick and the survivor are scared for life about it, but the evil drachnelfs is dead, then with jump to the present with the fact that they are going to make a play of the aventure....in the castle, and as everyone can guess, a lot of bad thing happen there
So, i have to admit that i was confuse at first because everything hapen to fast and many chararter dies right way, but after the focus is put into genevine, everything become more clear
so the chararter are genevive the vampire, a bretonian with 669 years, the most strange thing for all the readers is the fact that to one stand of the other, everyone acept her without to much problem, even karl franz and his sons with is weird because the come fron aldorft, the place that suffer most of the vampire wars, i know she is a friendly vampire(yes, there is such things in warhammer) also we learn about diferent vampire, even a few that we dont know, also the fact that she is almost dead but her heart is still beating
Detlef Sierck is the protagonist of the history, he pretty much ruin the play that was to mean the biggest thing ever(imagine that you ruin avatar o titanic and you will get it) so he goes to prision, is nonly when the prince(who defeat drachnelfs) ask him to do make a play about his aventure in the castle, aside for that he is detlef is pretty mucha expy of shakespeare, something understandable since there is not london per se in warhammer world(there is albion but is...complicate) so the empire take his place
and for last is drachnelfs, he like the rest of the canon in this novel is....complex, first at all he is old, like savage vandal old, and he looks like a mix of nagash and henrich hemmbler, when genevive bite him and see his memory, she was how the old ones came, is a shame that he was defeat at the end, he could reveal a lot of thing in the warhammer world
for the last i want to say that the author spend a quite time develop background of theater in the warhammer world, i could serve a lot for players, and yes there is many shout out in this history
i give this history 4 of 5
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Had a great game yesterday to celebrate the Wood Elves getting a book relese, since they're my main opponent's favourite army.
The high point was probably my Chaos Lord crushing a Wood Elf hero in one round, ascending to Daemonhood and shortly afterwards getting into a kaiju battle with a Treeman. Ended in a draw because both of us were pretty much down to the dregs of our armies by turn six.

I've been looking at some batreps. Whoah, the models are a LOT nicer than they were back in my day. (especially some of the new High Elf stuff looks pretty sweet)
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntHow did Matt Ward's Chaos Daemons codex army book break the game exactly? I'm curious.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Oh dear.
The world's officially fucked, guys. We had a good run.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.I've already christened him the Dread Pirate Bonebeard. And I don't know whether to find the hat hilarious, terrifying or awesome.
Well, since Warhammer Fantasy doesn't have pauldrons, clearly your level of badass is dictated by the size of your hat.
Nagash has the biggest hat, ergo he's the biggest badass.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.I like the new Nagash model. Pretty good.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiAww, his hat doesen't have the entire "steppe-pyramid look" it used to.
Still awesome though.
IIRC this was canon for Chaos Dwarves. Bigger hat=Higher up in the hierarchy=More badass.
EDIT: Which army is getting ol' Pyramid hat btw.? Mummies or Vamps? (or does he get his own list? With blackjack, and hookers!?)

"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntThey're bringing out a product called "The End Times: Nagash". From what I can see, it's kind of a metaplot thing where Nagash is coming back and making a move to unite all the undead under his banner. It's got a bunch of changes like extra Lords, all armies being able to practice necromancy, and a hybrid "Undead" list. I assume it serves as a variant play mode along the lines of the Storm of Chaos lists or Storm of Magic.
(I'm actually disappointed that they are playing this as a "nothing will ever be the same again" thing; I was hoping that they'd later release "The End Times: Archaon" or "The End Times: Ragnar" as end-of-the-world scenarios starring people other than the Dread Pirate Bonebeard. Hopefully it's just advertising copy.)
Also, some fluff things that a friend told me about (he got a 70 page preview of the book):
The King of Bretonnia's bastard vampire son stabbed him in the face. The Green Knight stepped forward and revealed himself to, indeed, be Giles le Breton, come back in Bretonnia's greatest time of need.
The Dark Elves are getting overrun by Khornate Warriors of Chaos who've decided they've had enough of that Khaine and Slaaneshi bullshit.
Averland is being assailed by demons from within, Nuln is engulfed in chaos, Kislev is running a desprate counterattack against the Chaos forces.
Lustria is being set on fire.
There's a huge daemonic invasion going on in Ulthuan and the High Elves have lost significant territory already.
The Wood Elves' great trees split open to reveal that they're all full of maggots.
Tilea and Estalia are completely overrun by Skaven.
Some people say Valten is apparently back.
Basically the Nagash supplement is meant to be Storm of Chaos, but with a narrative written out by GW's writers rather than being decided by random battles that result in an ork randomly punching the greatest Chaos Lord in existence in the face, exclaiming "GRIMGOR IS BEST" and storming off.

Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies."The End Times: Archaon" or "The End Times: Ragnar"
I'd totally love that. Warhammer Fantasy has enough Doomsday Scenarios they could probably keep up a line.
- End Times: The WAAAAGH! to end all WAAAGHS! (it could start with Karl-Franz being shot while visiting the border princes...)
- End Times: I can't Remember What the Prophecised Skaven Rising Was Called.
- End Times: The Sword of Khaine
- End Times: The Everchosen
Etc. etc.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntEnd Times: The Wood Elves Go Insane And Kill Everyone, Guest Starring That One Bretonnia Dude.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies."End Times: Wyrmfire" for the reawakening of the dragons.
As a High Elf player I highly endorse this notion.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.... Nagash is 1000 points.

Because he was the second best caster in the game.
