...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Apologies if this is a poor place, but is there some sort of "all-purpose general noob info thread"?
Specifically, I'm looking to get into Adeptus Evangelion as my first trpg, although 99% odds are that I'd only be able to play it online.
Well, uh, if you have questions I'm sure a thread could be made for that?
Well, I did not notice that it's been months since anyone spoke to you. Sorry about that mate.

Um, posted a thread about this, but then noticed this one *WHOOPS*
So, has anyone played Numenera that could recommend it? I'm also looking for public London RPG groups if anyone knows of any? Not exactly got many RP-ers among my social circle :\
I don't have any firsthand experience with Numenara, but I know someone who's read the rules and likes it quite a bit.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."Does anyone know of a game that's as customizable as Dn D, but doesn't have all the complicated stuff?
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."GURPS, I think.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great@Jereklaz: I've run a few Numenera campaigns. I enjoy it as a system, the setting is great for telling stories with a flavor akin to Dying Earth or the New Weird and it's relatively easy to learn and run, especially as all math is on the player end. Character creation is also quick and ssimple while DM intrusions can be fun and a source of engagement when used in moderation.

Anyone has recommendations for methods for recruiting players from same timezone?
Does anyone know of any systems that would allow me to RP in the Tiberium universe, circa Third Tiberium War, with minimal modifications?
Are there any really simple, Powered By the Apocalypse-esque systems for a space opera or space western sort of game?
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Ok, I've been wonderin': what's the current Star Wars system on the market? I like Saga ed, but since that's no more, where do I get my SW fix?
"Dude, I'm not taking religious advice from ANYBODY named 'Darth'!"It depends whether you want an official one or a recommendation for something that can easily be hacked.
If you want the official one, Fantasy Flight Games has three sub-games: Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion and Force and Destiny, all inter-compatible and based on the same system. However, in my admittedly brief experience of it, that system seemed to have a few needlessly fiddly bits, most notably the dice system.
If you just want something that's good for a Star Wars feel without being too expensive or complicated, I'd suggest FATE, probably either the Atomic Robo version or Jadepunk, and then hack it a bit.
Ah cool. Thanks!
"Dude, I'm not taking religious advice from ANYBODY named 'Darth'!"I'm trying to find a good open use RPG system, I'm trying to start up a Mobile Suit Gundam game on Roll20.net to play with some friends.
Hey, I was looking around TV Tropes for information on Looney Labs (creator of Fluxx), and though that at least they have some games on their games, but they don't have all games.
Can we post a Entry on Looney Pyramids?
For those who don't know, it's a bunch of plastic, pyramid-shaped, pieces that originally started as one game (called Icehouse) which grew into other games with these game pieces. This year Andy Looney will be making a collection that has 22 games and all the pieces you'll need to play the games in the collection.
I'm looking for a good system for a Hard Sci-Fi game ala Travellers. Anyone have any recommendations?
Serenity RPG is fun if you know a lot about that universe.
Any reccomendations for a casual RPG with easy mechanics for a one-shot game?
Depends how casual you want to go.
(Bear in mind that I am a dirty narrativist and that's going to be reflected in these suggestions.)
Fiasco is excellent if you want to minimise the mechanics and just run on almost pure story (and GM-less isn't a problem). I've introduced something like eight or nine people to it so far and only one has actually disliked it. You come up with the characters and scenario at the beginning of play by picking dice out of a random pool and comparing it to a fairly simple table (you can get a whole bunch of sample tables for free online, many of them based on media - if all your players are fans of Game of Thrones, for example, there's a Westeros playset here, although I haven't used it myself so I can't say if it's a good one). Uses ordinary six-siders in two different colours, two of each per player, although they're generally only rolled a few times a game. Lasts between 90 and 180 minutes, depending on number of players.
If you want something where you actually roll the dice during the scenes, Fate Accelerated is pretty straightforward. The mechanics are fairly straightforward (especially if you can get some Fudge dice, but you can also get by on rolling two D6's of different colours and subtracting one from the other) and the PDF is Pay What You Want. It's also really easy to use it for all sorts of things - since it's so bare-bones, you can do supers, sci-fi, fantasy, thriller and the like pretty well.
Costume Fairy Adventures is a weird one, but it's quite entertaining if you can get player buy-in. The player characters are faeries who score Shenanigan points for ruining the days of various Big Folk in amusing and ironic ways. Also uses six-siders, but does require some printing for maximum effect (hand out the Costume cards to the players!).

Anyone have a good system for a general JRPG? (Final Fantasy-specific games excluded, as...well, I don't want the Final Fantasy job system.)
The game I'm doodling would be inspired by the Phantasy Star quadrilogy, specifically the first two games.

Are there any good RPGs that are set in the plain old Wild West with no steampunk or fantasy elements?

Depends how rules-intensive you want, really.
If you want something that's cheap and simple, just get Fate Core. It's Pay What You Want, and is a pretty good system. Downside is that it requires a lot of meta-story thought, where characters do things that aren't entirely wise in order to fuel the Fate point engine, which can be a deal-breaker for some groups.
I've heard good things about Aces High, GURPS Old West, and Western City (if you don't mind GM-less). and Blazing Suns has five stars on DTRPG, so it's presumably doing something right (and hey, it's on sale for basically chicken feed when I link this, so. There's that).
I'm searching for rpgs in which there is a theme of one civilization or nation defeating another, and now it's dispersed/hiding or almost extinct. I mean something similar to Star wars where we have the empire and republic or like the romans and jews after their rebellion or also from history colonists and natives (from almost wherever in the americas and oceania). But I'm searching for something similar in fantasy, doesn't even have to be rpgs.
