Well, the alternate routes are supposed to be bad endings, or bittersweet at best.
I noticed. I guess it doesn't help that I don't really like Rimi either, though she doesn't garner the same hatred that Takumi gets from me.

Curiously, what is wrong with Takumi? I do agree he's not the most interesting or well-written, but seeing the story from his point of view really made it intense for me.
That aside, I finally, finally started Steins;gate after delaying it for a long time. Gotta say, the anime version really does go through certain things quickly, or portray it without the same mood. Okarin I thought really isn't going to work as a first-person type narrator, but so far he's doing pretty good. Loving that The World reference when Amane comes into the shop.
Also you know, in the anime, I found Ruka pretty cute but that's about it. In this...HHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGG I WANT TO TAP HIM BUT HES A GUY, BUT HES SO CUTE YET HE'S A GUY, WHAT SHOULD I DO

I think if I have to explain why I didn't like Takumi, this conversation is probably unlikely to go anywhere. Well, since I like to hear myself talk, I'll tell you anyway! He's rude, cowardly, selfish, arrogant, cowardly, weak, annoying, pathetic and has a really, really obnoxious voice. He is probably the worst protagonist I have ever seen because he doesn't even partially grow out of it until very near the end. I usually hate blank slates the most and love a protagonist whose view of the world really shapes the story, but Takumi's viewpoint is just terrible and actually removes or reduces all of the good qualities of the story.
It really made me hesitant to start out on Steins Gate, which turns out to have a much better cast, a much more interesting story and has a tolerable to good protagonist.

I do feel his bad qualities(Obnoxious voice aside) do help him as a character, but the fact that he doesn't really grow until the end of the story is a valid point, and I guess I can understand why he wouldn't be liked.* Welp anyways, at least there's a valid reason for hating him, so I'm good with it.
That flowchart was pretty confusing at first, but I guess it just..works? Without the flowchart there's no way in hell I would be able to finish the game...

Yeah, sorry if it's confusing. Steins;Gate isn't the easiest VN to do since there's a lot of useless stuff, so I found it important to put the "where."
There are walkthroughs of Steins Gate available around the internet if you look.
Yes, but I'm really not a fan of the one that's around. It's created a lot of misconceptions due to it not telling you what you're actually doing and having you do unnecessary things, and is plain wrong in some aspects.

Playing more steins;gate, got to chapter 2. Amane's cute, really cute. Faris's cute, really cute. Shining Finger's cute, really cute. Everyone looks that much better in the VN, except Daru who's even creepier I guess...

I agree. Also, I actually like Daru's look in the VN more than the anime.

Anyways, Steins;gate, I'm pretty much happy except for Moeka doesn't get her own ending, and damn I liked Moeka. Not as much as Suzuha, but she's pretty nice.
Amane's ending and Yandere Nae was scary as hell. Did they ever elaborate on what happened after Okarin and Suzuha goes in the time machine to go to the past?

No, but you can guess what happened. They both get brain damage, forget the mission and presumably fail.
Moeka really was one of the better characters.
Moeka was supposed to have an ending, but they later decided against it. Still, the third drama CD is basically a Moeka route.

Also, the people who released it have this to say:
"Officially, Okabe’s saying is 'El Psy Kongroo' not 'El Psy Congroo.' This was a mistake in CR’s translation of the TV series. Steiner has confirmed this and the official English release of the VN will be consistent."

Welp er...the more I know, I guess. Also, might've just been my subs back when I watched the TV series, but I've only realized after playing the VN...
They were saying "Lab Mem. Number x", not "Lab member x"...
Anyways, time to get to the movie

I like Mio's design. Everyone else seemed just sort of anime standard.
Yeah, it is the same character designer that did Chaos Head, which were fairly generic too.
But this just proves once and for all that lab coats make everything better.
Also, one more thing I noticed: Most of the characters are part of the newspaper club, so they're probably gonna investigate the old New-Gen cases and earthquakes, along with recent going ons that'll be related.

Takumi is what people find bad about it most consistently. There's actually nothing wrong with the setting and the other characters are mostly decent enough, but they have nothing to work with when the viewpoint character is Takumi.
Some of that Noah stuff actually looks fairly decent but then I remember Takumi.
Ah, wait, now it's getting ridiculously bleak and grimdark. Never mind, it's probably just as terrible as the original.
Anyway! I'll reserve some optimism for this so long as they fix what was wrong with Chaos Head. Steins Gate was excellent.
