Ever since I watched Fatal Fury/Garou Densetsu Memories of Stray Wolves, with it stating that Krauser is Geese's younger half-brother, but the thing is this, the one who said that in that short film is Terry. How on Earth does HE know that?
I don't think they'll be able to do Samsho justice ever again. It was very unique among fighting games, and I'm not sure it's style would even mesh with today's crowd.
Yeah. Everyone's all about "ERMAGERD MAD COMBOS. DAT TECHNOLOGY DOE", whereas early Samurai Shodown was more about fooling your enemy into making mistakes and making sure you don't stick your neck out too far (i've always loved the "blastback from a strong swing being blocked" mechanic of 1 and 2).
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Yeah early Samsho was all about making every hit count, and the POW meter meant that a guy could easily shave off 40% of your life in one hit and you'd need to make sure that never happened. It's funny because a lot of games from Samsho 2's time haven't aged too well(including SF 2 in all its iterations, at least to me) but Samsho 2 is still pretty fun and holds up. I really loved how every hit had so much OOPMH and the stronger it was, the harder it felt. The sound direction was fantastic, just the clash of the swords, the hit sounds, the music...ahhh an SNK masterpiece. I use to play the Genesis version when I was a kid so much(too bad about earthquake).
But jeez man, Gen-fu's theme is a work of art. Probably one of my favorites in fighting game history. He was one of my favorites in the first two games.

Ah. The Tiger King. How Nostalgic. The theme was even used in two games.
Hopeless VanityI've said this in this thread, but since this thread is still active compared to that one, can anyone answer this:
How come SNK didn't take a page from Banpresto and make a King of Fighters Original Generation series, where all plots are the same, minus the Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Ikari Warriors, Psycho Soldier, Buriki One, and other characters from SNK's other I Ps, and presto.
For plot, I'll start with the plot of Original Generation '94's plot first. Rugal hosts the tournament in this one, though there will be Early-Bird Cameos, like Iori, The New Faces Team/Orochi Team, etc.
As for teams:
Japan Team will be Kyo, Benimaru, and Daimon
America Team will still be Lucky, Heavy D, and Brian.
Italy Team will have to be new characters, maybe the New Faces Team entering to gun for Iori for wiping the floor with them musically, though in Chris' case, make him 17 or 18.
England Team will have to be with Hinako Shijou, Momoko, and Malin, and as with Chris, make them older.
Mexico Team will have to be Iori and two new characters.
Korea Team will still have Chang and Choi, but with another convict character, recycling the idea of an all-criminal team.
China Team will have to be new characters too.
Brazil Team will have to Heidern, Leona, and a new character, though Heidern's mercenary outfit shouldn't be called Ikari Warriors.
What does anyone think?

No terry bogard would be weird in KOF, sorry.
Why would they? There's enough new and old faces cycled about to keep things interesting.
Then how did Banpresto get away with it anyways?
Because they're a strategy RPG developer that doesn't operate on nostalgia quite like SNK does.
Also, you'd be cutting out like half the roster of all of the games.

Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle. So, you want to have them remain as filler characters then, while series like Terry's remain in the backburner?
Why not replace that half?

SNK isn't in the position financially to take risks right now. KOF is pretty niche as is.
How so?
When people think of fighting games, it's either Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. And if it's streaming (which most major tournaments do), fugedabout both a dose - Mahvel is king.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Ugh Freakin marvel...I think Mv C 3 is balls myself.
MVC 3 is fun, but it's not the end-all-be-all of combat games that many of the current FGC would like it to be. Granted, it is enjoyable, but not nearly as satisfying as MK, KOF XIII, and TTT 2 imo.
Hopeless VanityYeah, put me in the "Mahvel is flashy, no substance garbage" camp. I guess good fighters are more or less damned to nicheness.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Anyway, what do you guys think will happen gameplay-wise if there's a KOF 14?
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Yamazaki.
I want my Shermie.
... Please?
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Rugal, along with his beyond epic voice.
EDIT: Also, since SNK 'fully owns' the ADK franchises, I would like to see Janne Dulk, Johnny Maximum, and Captain Kidd make a comeback. SNK Playmore could be considering a NGBC sequel as well.

Hopeless VanityAnother NGBC would be great - and yeah, since they've pretty much thrown their hands in the air and pulled random crap to have dead folks back for canon games, I'd like to see the New Faces return. As actual Faces, this time, maybe.
And the American Sports Team - heck, if that other Muay Thai fighter and Big Bear came back....
Yea, I'm pretty deadly with Yashiro and Shermie in KOF 98 and 2002. Speaking of dead characters, I want a new World Heroes game. WITH Death Matches.
Whatever happened to the 20th Anniversary thing, anyway?
Hopeless VanityAny reason why Metal Slug 3D never came to Amercia, I mean, it's 3D and has English voice acting, which could have gotten a US release.
True that.
While Sen was great in concept (liked how they expanded Galford's backstory), it was horrible in execution. To this very day, I still wonder what happened to the directors of the first two games.
