In a cave!! With a box of scraps!

Before I begin, I just want to say this WEBSITE is the INCREDIBLE! The nexus I've been looking for all this time. And I found after becoming quite curious at the jargon people kept using like "Enders game" plot twist and some others.

Anyways, I've been working a story that I've had trouble trying to get off the ground before this site. I actually on a whim written a 83,000 word story that, after spending days on this site, I was able to see what mistakes I had made in my old story. I was considered decent at writing before, but after assimilating the information here, I hope to get better!

Anyways, let me introduce the possible main characters{everything is still up in the air so far.}

Protagonists. Goferro the knight and Piera the royalty. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

After going through this website, I noticed they fit some of the tropes already, although having read through so many, I'm thinking of playing with some of the tropes for more interaction. Based on those pics, what tropes do they fit to you? I ask to see if my illustrations, without dialogue, translate their personality well? Ironically, I have two different personality sets for each, depending on what kind of dynamic I want to have with them. So I have three possible combinations that I want to use. For example, in one, the princess is an Insufferable Genius but initially naive. As for the knight, it's a little more difficult, as after some analysis, I want to avoid the idiot hero. I'm thinking of adding the trope of HAM though. He's a smart fighter, but is in NO WAY at the level of what would be considered the Smart guy. {Another thing to note is that he is also a fragile speedster}. I'm thinking of adding a weakness that can be used for good measure, both in humorous and serious ways. {For example, a weakness that at first seems like a minor annoyance, but then makes itself the inner struggle during a crucial fight against a strong mook.

If story has extreme leanings towards comedy, she's the first to join them. [6]

I haven't given her a proper name yet, I just refer to her as bee girl. She's somewhat timid and paranoid, but still more sane than the comedy versions of any of the main characters.

Now for the other support characters, THIS I don't have set in stone, I have various scenarios of what other characters will be heavily involved in the story.

Grandemonium, the illusion jester. [7] She's on the left, early on, I wanted her to be in the group. After reading about the 5 MAN BAND, I realized she fit the HEART of the group. Especially obvious in a small comic I made a few months back. [[http://www.drunkduck.com/Ultranimal/5334701/ {As you can see, I made many story telling mistakes, like the bad guy is never clearly shown KICKING THE DOG, and I don't really introduce any of the characters properly.{IN retrospect, I was mostly doing it to see if I could draw pages fast, but still, I should have tried to dust off my writing skills which hadn't been used in a long time. I would just write interesting ideas down, but never expand on them.}

Also, the black and white jester on the right{Joid}, when I made her, she wasn't meant to be a in the main cast, but I might consider her. Her personality is a little different from the illusion jester. She fights via her fists. Can you tell what kind of personality she has JUST from this page alone? [8]

Which jester do you prefer? Joid or Grandemonium? [9]

At times, I almost want to use Joid, but Grandemonium is also pretty good, but part of the story is that one left the big kingdom while the other stayed behind to continue performing{and protecting the denizens from any super powered trouble makers.}

Now the DRAGONS.{Not THE DRAGON to the BIG BAD, although some ARE LITERAL DRAGONS.}

At this point, I haven't decided proper names yet, I just call them by descriptive words. I'm right now conflicted between which dragon to use. Unfit Dragon, a blob of a reptile that is high in defense, and can also dish out some damage in the form of flame and fireballs, his flight is rather clumsy. Then there is the FIGHTING DRAGON, originally, not meant to appear in the beggining, he is a sort of THE ACE or a FLYING BRICK in that he is strong in all stats. Meant to be subverted in an arc where he is beaten to a pulp by a weak looking monster{who this monster is an important plot point}. Because of his strength, the original plan is that he meets the main characters in a later arc and at that point becomes a main. Also, he is a BIG HAM, which would prove interesting against the knight when they fight{either by rivalry or teeth-clenched teamwork.} {They'll also point out the fact that its a knight vs dragon, which in their world, is an old and obsolete stereotype, due to all organisms now having equal rights. Oh yeah, did I mention that practically every living thing on any planet is sentient? So there's no "animal" dumb to speak of.}

Unfit Dragon. [10]

Fighting Dragon. [11] [12] [13]

Unfit, Fighting, and speed dragon.{Whom is actually an ANTAGONIST.} [14]

Hair monster. This guy fits the tropes of THE BIG GUY, THE SMART GUY, and THE STOIC! I really need to make more pics of this guy. The monkey in the pics fits the description of a DEADPAN SNARKER. [15] [16]

Now for some antagonist designs, tell me what you think of them. There's the Royal Ribbon, [17] [18] [19] [20] [21]

Other characters. [22] [23] [24] [25] [26] [27]

Some join later.

Anyways, after having done many requests, I think my art skills are up to speed. [28] [29]

So I'm thinking of telling this story via sequential art form. Such as a webcomic or something similar. However, I'm also thinking of writing it out in novel/manuscript form for some reason.

What do you think? Is it better told in sequential form or as a manuscript?

Also, I got a weird question, what GENRE would the characters and story fall under?

EDIT: More of the monkey: [30] [31]

21 looks a lot like old-school Ganon.

As for genre, don't worry about it. Write your shit and it'll fall under something.

Have you considered visual novels as a medium? I currently have a huge boner for them, and the mixed use of art/text is something you might consider.

Oh, and you may want to organize your post a little better by putting your questions towards the bottom, or emboldening them since you have a great wall of text

P.S. My favorite piece is the fighting dragon for sure. Really cool design on that one that took my by surprise.

Thanks. I have considered visual novels and actually have had a forum bookmarked for a while just in case. It was either that, or make it an action rpg game.

I have good news, I have improved by a GREAT AMOUNT. Literally overnight! New illustrations of the Knight and Princess. I'm still extremely perplexed at the moment!

Goferro the Knight

Piera the Princess

Unbelievable!
