That is a very concerning issue.

I can't tell what tone I should interpret that as.
The other issue is that after renaming, we don't know what the "old" inbounds were, because they're not accounted for on the Related page.

Well, someone who visits a redirect will by default visit two pages - the redirect URL and the target URL. Not sure why inbounds to redirects should not be logged.

Are the redirects logged twice - once on the redirect page, once on the page redirected to, or just on the page redirected to? If the former, it isn't a problem for cutlisting redirects etc. If the latter, it is a problem.

We all know how inbounds is used as a litmus test of whether a trope title is catching on outside the wiki. However, it's been implied that for some reason, when redirects are involved, this causes inbounds from the redirect to be logged as inbounds to the main article.
This would be a problem. Not a big one, but it is relevant to the "swap with redirect" discussions and the "avoid losing inbounds" argument. If an inbound was linking to a redirect then it should be logged with that redirect, not the main article.
This does, however, require a string or two attached:
- When an article has redirects, its "Related to" page needs to display all inbounds, including redirects. E.g. instead of saying just "This article has attracted ### users", add a parenthetical note about "(including ## from redirects)" to the page. After all, it already displays # wikilinks from redirects, why not inbounds too?
