If we're going with the iceberg for the next thread, would it be around the Arctic or Antarctica? Because I've got a pretty good idea if it's in the Antarctic.

Oceans can get pretty cold during the autumn, winter, and spring. Icebergs can be large enough as late as April to sink Titanic-sized ships, and the Titanic herself crashed and sank on probably about the same latitude as New York.

Also, Chihuahua, QQQQQ added the good and bad posts to the main Character Development Thread page.

I think QQQQQ is holding it off until Late May or Early June. There will be at least one more thread between that time.

I have several ideas:

  • Character Cantina: Visit Cathy's Cosmo Cantina! It is a magical inn which is accessable from many universes, just by using a door. Mingle with other visitors, and drown out your sarrows. Remember, if you tell some of your life's story, your tab is paid in full!
  • Character Cafe: Welcome to the 50's! Your car gets stuck in a town in the middle of nowhere, so you go to a restruant to get something to eat. Have some hamburgers and fries, liste to the judebox, and see those waitresses.
  • Character Ball: You had been invited to a Masquerade Ball! Arrive wearing a mask, which completely hides your idenity from other people. Try to guess what type of person you are dancing with is. Remember, you can be dancing with anyone.

Any of you can take the last two, but I want the first one.

[up][up]Okay then. I also did a little research, and it doesn't need to be Antarctica, specifically; the Arctic also has what I'm looking for.

I can tell that QQQQQ did a lot of work in that page, because I notice the writing style of some bits. grin

Has ADD, plays World of Tanks, thinks up crazy ideas like children making spaceships for Hitler. Occasionally writes them down.

[up][up][up]I like the cantina idea. I might bring in my Big Bad for my Na No Wri Mo novel to work on her a bit, rather than Panty and Stocking like I'd been thinking.

I'd definitely join if it was a Cantina.

I'm stuck between all three of these ideas, they all sound equally appetizing! Since I'll have some loads more free time next month, I'll most likely join.

Actually, yeah, I'd probably join all 3. But the Café seems like it would only work for so long before they are staying for way too long of a time period.

So, will it be okay if I lead the next thread for Charcter Cantina, or should I wait until after Iceburg?

Also, should it be called a caravansary (an inn, usually in the Near East) or a cantina (just a bar)?

Also, Sama'thra should be entering once the fight dies down slightly.

EDIT: The Ball (or Masquerade) idea is espeically gimicky. I'm thinking that each Troper picks a code-name for their character, a gender, and a different appearence, and have them show the aspect of their character through their interactions.

I like caravansary; it has an Arabian feel to it — it could take place in the deserts. Who knows what mummies, sphinxes and hassasins wait in the night?

So, question, what are these threads rated, G-R speaking?

For your cafe idea... do you mean it literally takes place in the 50s via time travel? That could be a dangerous trip for some characters.

These threads seem to mostly stick to a PG-13 rating — violence is frequent, but there's very little sexuality. That could get awkward.

Caravansary...Then maybe not. I want it to have a High Fantasy feel to it, as if it was lifted out of a Paragon tier Dungeon and Dragon adventure.

And my character will be the enigmatic Cathy, which is the owner of the dormain. Although she had humble beginnings, she is slowly becoming less mortal.

Maybe for another thread? Character Caravansary, out of an Arabian fairy tale?

How much sexuality are we talking about? I only say it because of my own mentality. I tend to speak about it rather bluntly, and see it as just another aspect of life, and sometimes I forget that not everyone else does. This can result in awkward situations where I link to a medical diagram of male genitals to show that a certain animal character does indeed resemble it, when I walk into the mentioning of it.

Also, where does vulgarity fall into that?

In terms of sexuality, since I am a teenager, I like to be a little teasing about it. I usually incourporate LGBT themes in my work, which hadn't appeared in this thread yet (Ian Down is bisexual, but he didn't show any sexuality in the thread that he was in). I'm also a fan of equal Fanservice.

Vulgerity? Nah...

There's no hard ban on sex-related stuff — otherwise I wouldn't be able to use Asau — just an unspoken agreement. Really, as long as you just use Sexy Discretion Shot for any actual incidences of sex that might end up occurring (purely theoretical at this point, AFAIK), you should be fine.

EDIT: Also, at Chihuahua: see question above.

Ok. Just wanna cover all my bases. I have a tendency to get scared of these sorts of things, and I don't want to end my try at it prematurely because of something that could have easily been avoided.

I feel these threads can be open for all; I don't believe in aiming for any specific G, PG, or R rating. Sex is an event that is very possible for our characters. Pregnancy too, if we get long-term enough. Nevertheless, let's not delve into wild fetishes and things that would make people cringe.

[up][up][up] Except she hadn't actually done the act in Beach House.

I'm thinking of using a Sexy Discretion Shot in Iceberg, with the "hand on the steamy window" thing from Titanic.

Are we chatting too much?

EDIT: Time Travel? Good idea...

[up]I will be using her in future, though. So if things last longer than Beach House did, the possibility that she'll actually get an interested reaction from one of her targets still exists.

Is it weird that I asked that question, with not a single intention or thought towards an actual sexual act? Only references to it?

If there's a thread in June, I might be able to join it. I have holidays then. All those ideas sound pretty cool.

It would be extremely hilirous if Asau and Justin got together, considering how much Justin was blushing around her.

I wonder if she is Ian's type.

I was away checking on my GameStop account...

Anyways... I'm all for the Cantina. Or whatever it's going to be called.

I'm happy that we're going to be aiming for a fantasy tone for it. I feel as though I should use this one to fully get Vince's character down without him trying to bullshit his way out of having his mind destroyed by the Eternal King. I... just get the feeling that his character isn't really possible if he's fully Brought Down to Normal. You can't exactly condense 3,000 years worth of experiences to facilitate the background for all of his personality traits.
