That is certainly true, and while it is certainly prudent of you to discuss it I believe mountains are being made of molehills. The ads and therefore site revenue is plentiful and there's little to no objectionable content on the forum that would cause the site to be taken down. This is perhaps just me wanting to avoid stress on a website I frequent for fun, though as I have acknowledged this discussion could perhaps be necessary, though my personal opinion is that it is not.

I have spoken with folk up there before, and that is rather unlikely, Psyga. It would be best not to worry.
Huh? Why would the RP Zone get killed off?
Oh, heh, guess Col's faster than me.

Many reasons, though most are thwarted. The first major problem would be that if the site was under some money problems, they'd have to cut off a chunk of the forum to save money. That's been eliminated thanks to the badges. The second major problem is a little more controversial, so I'll just say it led to Daltar being RP Mod...
Very well.

Enough, Psyga.
I said I'd stop.
I don't know, it's an interesting idea but I don't think the RP section is necessarily that collective. We all come to this place because this is TV Tropes, and most of us post in other sections of this site. That's what brought us in a single RP section. If it was just an RP board, we may not have something concrete that holds us together.

...Love of roleplaying?
Hurm, I think the idea I had was just somewhere where everyone could check in in case of an emergency, although having a roleplay site made by roleplayers for roleplayers wouldn't be that bad a thing. I don't mean any offence, but the staff have kind of made it clear that aside from a couple of them they don't really care about the RP boards, even going so far as considering either axing them or making them something you have to pay for to use.
But yeah, dumb idea brought on by overreacting due to being delirious. Sorry if I upset anyone. To be fair, I was never really proposing a replacement, just a back up in case of emergency. I worry too much, see, and I just thought it might help out somehow.

...I'll admit straight up that what made me stay here so long is the ability to hold multiple avatars without having to pay for any extras or changing them.
That being said, if I might throw my two cents in, while making an entire other forum might be a bit kneejerk , I think having a good way to communicate with other players/RPers when the site is down would be excellent. I don't quite know how you'd achieve it, but still, I'd support it.
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)It'd be simple, I'd think. Maybe setting up a chatbox?
Yeah, I'll admit that "backup forum" was kind of an overreaction on my part due to not being able to think of anything else at the time due to delirium, but... Yeah.
Chatbox might work, I suppose. If anyone else is okay with that idea, I'll get to work setting one up later.
Doesn't chatbox need a site? Unless you mean an IRC channel instead.
I skype with plenty of Tropers, it is a fantastic text chat client in addition to the VOIP everyone knows it for. There are few problems with communications between Tropers in my experience
Hm... Should we make a separate thread for this?
I agree with using Skype, since it is my favorite way to keep in touch with all the other tropers (I think I have at least 30 on my contact list) If any of you want to get plugged in just send me a pm.
Psyga: Yes. This is not on topic.
Nman: Bear in mind that quite a few people don't have Skype.
It's true that quite a few people don't have Skype, but honestly, it's not that difficult to set up an account. And if people are worried about revealing their identities to other random internet people (which I'll admit I was when I started using Skype to keep up with other R Pers,) then you can always set up your account so that it doesn't display your real name or face.
So yeah, I'd say that's the best way to go if people want to keep in touch outside of the RP boards, since it's a system that's already sort of in place, in a sense. Although, like other people have said, it really doesn't seem all that necessary. TV Tropes going down really isn't a frequent occurrence.
Anyway here's BlackwallHey, can I get some critique?
What on?
I just wonder if my GM skills are starting to suck lately since my first RP died after a year and my second one is quiet for a few days now.
A year? I think my first RP, three of the players permanently left the site after one day, and the whole thing died within four days TELL ME YOUR SECRETS But seriously, which RP is this first one? I want to take a look.
It's called Mortal Wills, Mortal Hearts. The PCs are mortals who don't have powers. Instead they rely on wits, weapons and intelligence to outwit even the most hardest of enemies.
@Nman
- Case you wanna look at my Survival Horror RP, here it is.
Stitch in time and all that. Although I was more thinking of just a place to keep in touch should anything like today's incident happen again. Really shouldn't propose things whilst I'm delirious with the cold, ahah~
