Cleaning up Most Triumphant Example redlinks?

I understand that this page is now in the Permanent Redlink Club, and I wanted to help by running some cleanup. Last night, I spent an hour or two getting rid of about 160 or so. When I paged out, I was down to 300. At the moment, there are now 423 (and really, the phrase seems so myopic after a while, although that might just be me).

Would anyone be interested in helping me clean up the links, or is this just something to give up on? I'm loath to bother anyone else, but I don't feel like I'm accomplishing anything on my own.

Me, I'm more interested in keeping tabs on the bluelinks.

Okay, point. I was focusing on the redlinks because they're more of an eyesore, in my opinion, but there is also the matter of keeping Sugar/Darth Wiki links relegated to their respective spaces. I haven't even looked at those ones yet.

Can't we have a single thread for de-wicking stuff?

The Wallbanger thread would need its title changed if we do that.

Anything that deserves to be in Special Efforts is a fairly big job. I don't see any benefit in lumping them all together. This way, a thread can be locked once the job is complete. Lumping them simply means there will be no way to be sure one is finished.

I'm down to 288, but more keeping springing up, and people are putting them back. I can't remove them all, and I really do want to get rid of them. (So much of it is gushy fancruft, just like the Wall Banger ones were bile-filled fancruft.) I've checked the Sugar Wiki inbounds — there's only 22 at the last count.

I feel like ripping my hair out at this point. I hate to be like this, but I can't do this cleanup on my own.

Yeah, but try to leave a grammatical sentence behind. I've spotted a few doozies.

I'm willing to help out. (This isn't nearly as bad as the Wall Banger redlinks. At least there's only a few hundred.)

Caits Meow- Don't get too stressed over it. Once the red links are gone, it will be much easier to zap new ones when they spring up.

Wow, they're (currently) pretty much gone, although I am having to cut a few ever so often. It's a lot easier, however. Thank you for helping, everyone.

I have a question: should I change the links in the Troper Tales pages (and in Darth Wiki, and in Sugar Wiki itself) to Sugar Wiki links, or should I zap those as well?

If it's just a way to inject additional Hyperboloid Gushing into an example, I would slash it even if it's already on Sugar Wiki. If it's more humbly applied, I might be merciful.

Example of a link I don't like, from Awesome.Metroid:

• This troper would like to nominate Super Metroid as an entire Crowning Moment Of Awesome. That game defines the trope Even Better Sequel for video games.

This is gushy and arrogant, and besides, everyone knows the real Most Triumphant Even Better Sequel for video games is Super Mario Bros, so it can't possibly be correct. Additionally, it makes reference to being the Most Triumphant Example for a specific genre, which is actually misuse—MTE applies to tropes as a whole and is not restricted to certain genres or works. I zapped this one.

Example of a link I'm okay with, from TroperTales.Audio Erotica:

• I cannot believe Alan Rickman hasn't been mentioned yet.
  • I know, right? In my opinion, he's the king of this trope. My friend and I have a saying, whenever we watch a movie with him in it, when he first appears on-screen, we say, "Alan Rickman has arrived! But more importantly, Alan Rickman's voice has arrived!"

This example clearly describes itself as This Troper's personal opinion, including an amusing anecdote to explain why. The trope is correctly used to mean "My personal favorite example of this trope." I left the link intact.

Here's another one I zapped, from Horrible.Film:

• Boll, Uwe. A filmmaker who specializes in movie adaptations of videogames and clobbering his detractors in boxing matches. He is considered the Most Triumphant Example of Video Game Movies Sucking.

What grinds on me here is that the example is written as if it's a widely-accepted objective truth. Most Triumphant Example should never be treated that way—since it's defined as "My personal favorite example", it's never correct to use it in this way, as if you're speaking for a larger group. Link deleted.
