Get Rid of Wall Banger red links

There are over 2000 red links to wallbanger because they are missing Darth Wiki/. There are fewer than 500 links to the correct article Wall Banger. I correct a lot of these links myself but over the past 2 days over 100 new red links were added. I can't ever fix that many myself.

We're supposed to be removing all links to Wall Banger except ones that are part of trope descriptions. Don't fix 'em, remove 'em.

I've been removing any that I see while browsing around. I'm not making it a special project, but I think if we all commit to do this, we could take care of the problem reasonably quickly. And if some people make it a project as well, that'll go even faster.

When I first heard that it was cut, I asked what I should do and was given incorrect advice telling me not to put in main, but that it was okay to put in on YMMV pages. Then again, if they know enough to be able to bluelink it, then they're probably users who are more familiar with the site...

Why is Wallbangers blue linked, and why does it even exist?

Someone got creative about trying to get around the restrictions? Cut List and locked it.

Seriously though, if people are really that determined to fight the quarantine, deleting it might be the best option.

Wallbangers seems to be old, so that's why.

Also, in my experience, some people will fight tooth and nail to hold on to any excuse they have for ranting about something.

I'll lend a hand on the blue links. One I noticed, I Thought It Meant/A-C, is defining another trope as NOT a Wall Banger + something else. Is this an exception to the cutting or yank the reference to it entirely?

I Thought It Meant and other pages describing what the trope means are fair game. We just want to stop people from actually using it.

There seems to be some false wicks. I'm not finding anything on Contrived Stupidity Tropes or Dancing Bear but it's on the list.

Yeah, those are database errors. They happen.

Would a compromise be possible? Maybe remove potholes to Wall Banger, but leave any text referencing Wall Banger alone (using [= =] tags to remove the broken links)?

A clear directive on this matter would be helpful. Kill it with fire - yes or no? If the directive is get rid of it, even on pages like Troper Tales, then nobody should be getting in trouble for that.

As for text referencing it and simply deleting it, why not? That's what I've been doing anyway where it wasn't actually part of a main example - remove the phrasing "Wall Banger," but keep associated text as best possible.
