I'd think if the personal examples were to stay, policing them is necessary. (e.g. don't talk about characters who are supposed to be children)
The crowner makes it very likely the personal examples will be cut.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. The current definition's already entered the troper hivemind so redefining it will be difficult.
Well I wasn't suggesting that in the OP, just only allowing examples in a show, and how to tell them from an example that fits Fetish better.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. You know, dudes, Janitor and I just don't want fetish fuel on the wiki. We've been dancing around its squickiness for years now, and should finally just go ahead and dump it.

^^All right, then.
^^^ I fully support this.
^^^^I won't miss it.
Well then should I move the few objective examples to Fetish?
Also, I do understand that some people outside the site get turned off from coming here because of this, so I can see why there is a need to avoid that.
So... let's say I there was a site made just for that (like fetishfuel.org or something like that)? How would it be done and managed (if it could be)?

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. It's better than drawing a line between too squicky and acceptable.
Like, if you would ban furries/lolicon/gerontophilia/rape fetish, people would keep arguing why, let's say, BDSM, foot fetish, and amputee fetish are still allowed, or vice versa.
This page seems like all its examples could be shuffled off to Perverse Sexual Lust or just zapped altogether, for instance.
And I can adjust some of the wicks so that there aren't awkward gaps in the text.

//Raises hand//
What about a...sorta-compromise with the Fetish Fuel page? Instead of stay/delete/edit, just do what Fan Fiction.net did and move them to a warning-filled site? It'd be like Adultfanfiction.net, only with less fic and more Tropes. If not someone actually in charge of TVT, then somebody around here probably would be willing to help.
I mean, I know and am people who found films/books/musicals/whatever solely because someone said "this thing has Tim Curry and everyone loves him", which isn't the best example but it still stands that the Fetish Fuel pages are really, really, really popular, and it'd be sad to see all that go away...

Well, wait a second, hold on. Fetish Fuel is a valid trope. I have no issue getting rid of the Tales section, but there are a ton of works that deliberately attempt to invoke Fetish Fuel, successfully or not, as a trope. What are the grounds for getting rid of it as an entire page, given that it it's a valid trope?
Edit: I can understand wanting to get rid of it, because hell, it's creepy. But there are a lot of objectionable tropes on here that are equally valid. And, it's your wiki Eddie, get rid of it if you want to. But, as an admittedly minor contributor to the site, where's the line when it comes to making judgment calls?

A page for the term is cool. Examples aren't.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyWhat about references to this in shows? Will those be acceptable, since they just note that something is a turn on, not really what it is?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. The examples are going, but when?
Well the crowner just got started again, so we'll just see how it goes properly, but that most likely means later rather than sooner instead of if.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Hey, I'd like to just put the main page text, sans page list, on the Main/ namespace, but being a redirect makes the page unable to access. How do I fix that?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. What about the potholes? Are personal examples allowed elsewhere on the wiki?
Shouldn't be. As I noted, even a YMMV page would best just list Turn On Tropes in a work, instead of anything too specific.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Cleaning them would require a group effort, and perhaps another thread or something in the headlines.

Well I could clean them up. It would take time, but it can be done. Also, if it's just the page and no examples, then it would mainly mean removing listing it as though it was a trope (or moving it to YMMV/ pages).

As decided in this thread, a number of Troper Tales pages will be cut, for various reasons (depending on each page), which includes Fetish Fuel.
So the question here is what to do with the page. It still brings in a lot of people, so we probably don't need to cut the entire pages, just the troper tales examples.
So my proposal is to just make the main page one that explains the concept, and only allow examples that are direct references to fetish fuel (distinct from a Fetish in that it's acknowledging something in a show, or in that very show, is a turn on instead of just someone having a turn on). Does anyone think that is reasonable?
I also think it would be cool to move the personal examples to its own site, but that would have a lot of issues to work out, so I would save something like that for later (if at all).
