Apparently Asian men on campus like me as a "Ronin" because I once explained to them "I'm the white guy that the other white people rejected".

It also helps that I'm not racist either. If you like Asian culture, you gotta like it as a whole, as in men in need, or bros in need in general, are deserving of assistance if they require/deserve it. I guess Asian dudes on campus are relieved to see a white dude who actually wants to be their friend on a non-ironic level.

I've been diagnosed from age 3, they knew it from the start, even though my so called "inability to talk" at age two turned out to me being just lazy about whether my parents actually required me to speak for them. When or if I have a kid I'll probably keep that in mind for when they try to learn speaking. Sometimes diagnosed Aspies are weird like that.

And if you think Nerds are divisive, wait till you spend a year on campus with Hipsters. Once they discover your claim to any real sense of disability or lack of privilege they don't want to hang around you too long. Because un-ironic disenfranchisement is uncool.

I got mild Asbergers, at the least diagnosed with it. The thing is, I can see why they think I have it, and I guess they are correct.
I am sort of lacking something most "normal people" have, or at the least it did not develop the way it usually does when you are a kid. The most notorious example I have of this is more or less lacking the ability to proper smalltalk.
Beyond that, frankly, I don't think you can spot it. You would just likely just spot me as another loner or some sort, or another guy who is not into the mainstream. \\

NGP: Wrong thread?

Hm, I am not diagnosed with either of the titular disorders. I've been told I have ADHD, but that was by a school counselor who I don't really feel is qualified to make that judgment. Several tropers have also suggested I'm bipolar. Which, while a possibility, is far from a certainty.

Not exactly the wrong thread. Sometimes I get muddled while I try to address similar, yet differing thoughts at once.

I don't know what I mean anymore, I'm tired.

I was officially diagnosed with Asperger's when I was fifteen, which I understand is a far later date than most people. As for my obsessions, most people outside of my family and my high school friends don't know how obsessed I really am because I don't talk much about my interests nowadays outside of the Internet.

As for how it's affected me in the real world, it would take me a particularly long time to properly explain and make sure I didn't forget anything.

I was diagnosed when I was 12. It really did explain why I was so obsessive and unable to relate to people around me. Thankfully I manage to fake normalcy these days. The screaming is just on the inside now.

@ Spain Sun: I think I might actually have ADD too, since I think I might have a serious inability to focus that was never given any attention since they changed my diagnosis from ADD to AS when I was in third grade.

It was really bad today, for example. Every other question on my AP Psychology midterm I kept spacing out and going on a completely irrelevant train of thought, reading questions over and over but not processing what I read. The result was I wasted a lot of time both spacing and trying to get focused, and ended up being the last person to hand in the test.

Things like this usually happen to me a lot, but it was especially bad today, so bad that I noticed it (giving me another thing to space about). (Could have been worse though, sometimes I don't even finish tests on time.)

I have a similar problem with reading sometimes, which is really frustrating because I'll have gone through a whole page and not processed anything, so I have to go back and reread. Either it's been getting worse the last few years or I've only recently started to notice it.

According to my mother, who heard it from my doctors, I share many symptoms with Asperger's, but I don't exactly have it.

bee: Well that sucks. :/

If I do have it (which I don't know if I do, in theory here) it doesn't seem that bad. I can concentrate, just not for very long.

I was diagnosed as being on the spectrum somewhere, but I don't think anyone has flat-out told me "You have definite Asperger's Syndrome".

I've been officially diagnosed with autism since last year, when I was 20 years old, though someone in the field also had 'a hunch' and wanted me to get tested at the age of 15, but I despised that woman so I refused.

I like to think of it as a few life lessons missed along the way. Like 'in order to get shit done, you need to do shit'. That, and it might explain a bit why I was such an outsider (and bullying target) in school at all ages, resulting in rock-bottom self-esteem.

Currently, I'm living at a live-in project for college students with autism. Almost all of the 7 other people here are much like me, normal people who just skipped a few lessons. The other guy is just really quite and likes chess a lot more then normal people. That's it, really.

It's a real shame that I just don't get to function properly yet.

I too was a bullying target. I really want to see society change. I saw my "best friend" in elementary school later, in middle school, deny that he was ever my best friend. I guess it was no longer socially worth it to admit to having hung out with me a lot.

I'm an Aspie. I got a diagnosis early. At age eight. And over all I don't seem to be good at organization and stuff. I don't deal that well with people. I have a few friends though.

I've been officially diagnosed with Asperger's, as Dovey mentioned on the first page. I was diagnosed when I was 7, but my parents didn't tell me till I was like 13.

I'm still a little peeved over that.
