Can we come up with something less intrusive than underlining for the permanent solution?
Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist. It's meant to be intrusive so that the tropes are removed from the Main namespace of the work pages. They don't show up underlined on the YMMV subpages.
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”Right. You can make them less intrusive by moving them to YMMV.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyWhy not just use a different color then? That way you can color code the different kinds of non-tropes.

Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.Wait, they're being underlined in the forums as well, even potholes? I thought potholes were allowed. here's a test pothole
"The fact that your food can be made into makeshift bombs alarms the Hell out of me, Scrye." - CharlatanI think that having the underlines should be an option for those who dislike them.
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about. That's kind of missing the point of why they're there in the first place.
I never said I was against it, did I now?

Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist. Not sure why a pothole should be any different. Sure as the sun comes out of the East, you'll get people potholing their YMMV stuff just to go covert with it.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittySurely you can turn it off in the forum?
Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.Sure. There we go.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyLooks kind of weird to me.
"Wax on, wax off..." "But Mr. Miyagi, I don't see how this is helping me do Karate..." "Pubic hair is weakness, Daniel-san!"Do YMMV tropes need to be underlined on trope pages?
I'm feeling strangely happy now, contented and serene. Oh don't you see, finally I'll be, somewhere that's green...YMMV indexes aren't being underlined.
Further problems, not necessarily related with this but certainly affecting it: several tropes tagged with YMMV on the header aren't showing up on the Subjective Tropes index, which as all of its non-index tropes underlined. This is an issue.

Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsWant to try that with some specifics, please? What article has a YMMV banner that is not on the YMMV index?
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyIt probably has to do with the fact that indexes are borked at the moment and stop working if anyone edits them.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThe indexes should be unborked, now.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThey are unborked, but they need a null edit to show back up on the page.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI would like to ask again, is the intent to create a permanent visual style change for YMMV tropes, whatever the final design choice is, be it underlining or color or whatever?
Maybe to further the connection all text in a YMMV page or in any tropes marked YMMV could be underlined?
I'm feeling strangely happy now, contented and serene. Oh don't you see, finally I'll be, somewhere that's green...Maybe the underlining needs to be disabled in the index bars.
Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist. That would be very, very annoying. That's one of the places where text coloring or adding an icon (like external links have) would make more sense. You could either have the color match the background, or use the same icon (or a smaller version) as the buttons themselves do.

I'm afraid to go look at things where the work is a review series like That Guy With The Glasses.
