[up]I assume that's possible with the right combination of cards. But I find it boring. I mean, what fun is a duel that lasts *one turn?* Other than giving yourself an ego boost, you're denying yourself (and your opponent) the chance to put more cards in play and try out different strategies and situations. Isn't that what a TCG is for?

The other day I had the satisfaction of killing a Blue Eyes White Dragon (from Jean's dragon deck) with Dasher from my Hero deck. The fun part was that I couldn't summon Dasher because Jean kept killing my monsters with the Blue Eyes as soon as I laid them down. But then he activated a trap card (forgot the name sorry) that forces the opponent to choose a card from my hand (at random) and if it's a monster, you can special summon it right away. Even more incredible: I had just four cards in my hand: Dasher, Poison Rose (who can't be Special Summoned that way) and two spell cards. And he picked Dasher!! grin

So he won anyway, as he soon summoned a Three Headed Blue Eyes, but I still felt a lot of satisfaction for killing Kaiba's pet monster (Man I really cannot stand that guy.)

Question: at one point, Jean was using a card whose effect depended on the monsters he controlled, and he counted the ones in his graveyard. Now I told him that AFAIK you can't do that. He told me he had always played it that way (and he's no cheat) so I allowed it, but later I looked up "Control" in the Yugioh Wikia and it says only that it refers to monsters on the field, not the grave. Is that correct?

Monsters on the field, unless it specifies graveyard as well.

I've faced that kind of Exodia deck. Beat it, actually, because he wasn't able to do it all in one turn. But, the way the current metagame is, unless someone's running a stall deck, expect most duels to last 4-5 turns each.

Dragon-Exodia with One Day of Peace = instant win.

That's actually the one that I beat with morphing jar.

@Sijo: From your avatar, you seem to be a fan of Tales Of Legendia. Do you know what the name of the song in this trailer was?

Got another OTK. (or what would've been, if I didn't make one mistake that made me win in the next turn. I'll just say what should've been, and just stick to the monsters and one magic card.

Opponent had 8000 LP, two set monsters, one set trap.

I had set all my cards but my one Broww (that thing is useful). On the field: set Morphing Jar, set (I think) Honest, set Forbidden Chalice, set Mirror Force.

My turn. Flip summon honest. Summon reborn tengu. Special summon d.d. sprite on tengu. Special summon second tengu. syncro summon Mist Wurm. Return all of his cards to his hand. Special summon third Reborn Tengu. Flip summon Morphing Jar. He discards 8, draws 5. I discard my Broww, draw 6. Special summon Dark Simorgh with the Broww and second Tengu.

What I did: stopped looking at my hand and thinking, activated Forbidden Chalice on my Morphing Jar, attacked for 7800 damage. It should have been 8000, but he did his math wrong.

What I should have done: special summoned my second D.D. sprite I just drew, banishing Morphing Jar. Synced for Librarian, who I never use, at 2400. Activated Fragrance on that. Also 8000.

I did what Yugi had to cheat to do. Beat a god card by decking it out.

Of course, my opponent was mistaken in how Obelisk works (it doesn't stop everything forever). But I still won the turn after she summoned it.

I had on the field: Zenmaines with one EXCEED, two set Needle Worms, active macro cosmos and soul absorption, set d.d.dynamite and DDR.

She'd just destroyed my defense helios with obelisk. Had the amazoness field and some other amazoness card, plus dimensional fissure (that I knew due to mind haxorz.

I was at 5000-something LP, she still had 8000. I hadn't done any damage yet. She had 19 cards in her deck.

My turn, draw gravekeeper's servant. Flip up both needle worms. gain 5000 LP. she's at 10 cards. Activate DDR, banish then revive Necroface in my hand. She's at 5 cards in deck, I gain another 5500 lp. tribute Necroface for White-Horned Dragon. Deck her out, I gain another 5500 LP (ending at 23,100).

I didn't need to do a single LP of damage, I deck her out, have absurd, LP (even before using White-Horned Dragon's effect), and I still have Macro Cosmos and Gravekeeper's Servant if needed to stop any attacks.

@wanderlustwarrior: No, sorry. Try googling the game's OST.

Darnit, I haven't been able to *fully* test my Hero deck, every time I played in the last week I lost the connection! This happening to anybody else? (To be fair, we've had some foul weather around here lately.)

Also, I'm working on a Hero Fusion Deck (I don't like Fusions much but Jean wants me to try them.) Man, are there a lot Hero fusions in this game! Take that, Firestorm!

Question: can I use "treat this card's name as" effects (such as the one from the Hero Mask spellcard) to replace a Fusion material, or does it *have* to be the specific card named?

Has to specify where the name is treated. If it's everywhere, including the deck (Harpie Ladies, for example) then yes, you can use it anywhere. Otherwise, it has to be face-up on the field or somewhere specified by the card.

Finally won a duel with Ancient Sacred Wyvern. The opponent got rid of my BLS after one attack, Summoned 2 black rose dragons (one of which I negated with effect veiler, the other with Starlight Road) and Dark Hole'd my stardust dragon and Necroface (I forgot to use dragon's effect). I couldn't even play a Macro Cosmos or Dimensional Fissure. But thanks to 2 first turn Soul Absorptions, necroface effect x3 (one was due to BLS summon), Cyber Valley, Allure of Darkness and one Dimensional prison, I was leading in life points 32,700 to 4500.

My only attack before Wyvern (who had 30,800 attack) was BLS aided by his Luminous Spark. I'd already made sure he'd used his Honest and 2 Effect Veilers. He'd only had one card in his hand, and I just realized even if it was Honest, Effect Veiler or something to negate my effect, I could've battled anyway and revived Wyvern by its own last effect, winning the duel anyway.

My next draw would've been Gren Maju Da Eiza (atk/def 4800) anyway. Then tour guide, then monster reborn. I still had most of my milling cards in my deck, including a needle worm, so unless somehow he took out tons of LP quickly, I'd have won by deck out anyway.

I love it when a plan comes together.

[up][up][up]It's Xyz.

Seriously, the Japanese word doesn't even end with a "d" sound. If it were "-zzu" instead of "-zu" at the end, you might have an argument, but no, that's most emphatically not the case.

Please, for the love of all things awesome, let go of your bad fan translation and accept that Konami has finally started to know what the hell it's talking about.

Just bought two copies of "The Gates of the Underworld", and I am amazed at how great the deck already is.

I really wished Judgment Dragon didn't get so many reprints.

Now that a common version exists, all of the Secret Rare Judgments ceased to exist from ebay.

I choose to call them Exceed because I prefer it. Fan translation or no.

I've named the D.D. Dynamite in my deck Tsar Bomba. I'm debating adding another.

OK, I'm DEFINITELY going to have to make an anti-summon deck. Jean keeps beating me with humongous summoned monsters. Which I don't mind in itself, it's just that losing the same way all the time is *boring*. Especially when it makes the duels last TWO ROUNDS. So, any tips on which monsters/spell cards/trap cards etc. should I use? Please keep in mind I don't necessarily want to beat him, I just want to short-circuit his "and now I summon the five headed dragon *bang* you loose!" strategies. He's sooo smug about it too. tongue

Oh and I've made a Fusion deck too- a Hero-themed one. Let's see how my nephew likes it when I bring big clobberers of my own! evil grin (besides I just wanted to use those characters.)

Eh, I'm not a huge fan of the Solemn cards. Which is strange, because my main deck can often end up with an absurd amount of life points. I prefer clearing or prohibiting monsters from hitting the field.

What I'm really looking for is cards that can stop opponent's monster effects, especially that may fit in a water deck.

I saw a really bizarre deck yesterday at locals; it had 28 spells, a handful of traps and a few monsters. Basically, he used three Destiny-Hero Diamond Dudes to activate cards like Ojama Delta Hurricane, Bonding H20, Des Croaking, Magical Cannon and other really hard to activate spell cards. So the whole deck was basically unpredictable and fun for everyone.

There was a great Macro Cosmos there too.

Well, my first attempt at using a Fusion deck was a disaster, though mostly because my nephew was in a hurry and wasn't willing to give me the time to think what I was going to summon (to be fair, I hadn't memorized the requirements and abilities too well.) I ended up giving up so he could leave. But we both agreed to try again later.

(Plus, he was using his darned Exodia Deck again. He never tells me what he's going to use. Had I known I would've used my other deck, the one with the anti-summon cards.)

Note that even without the Fusions I was doing fairly well, until he started stalling me to bring out his Exodias. Meh.

Ah, the time wasted collecting those things...

[up][up]Hah, that reminds me of how I played the Pokemon TCG: by photocopying the cards off magazines and then gluing them on top of regular playing cards (I wasn't going to waste time and money getting rare cards!) wink Btw Pokemon is still my favorite CCG to this day, even more than Yu Gi Oh. It has a balance between creativity and easy of play too many games lack.
