I like plenty of his videos, but more because I like to have something vaguely funny playing in the background. I dislike most of his output as The Distressed Watcher, though.
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat. He's the Socrates of our age.
Kill all math nerdsThen who is his Plato?
Myrmidon, of course.
Or actually, that goat avatar guy. ¬_¬

[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Oh, that guy. Yeah, he's a tool.
I must say, I'm a fan of his books. Soft, strong, and thoroughly absorbant.
He strikes me as a little bit of a jerk sometimes, but I guess he isn't a bad guy overall. If it weren't for his involvement in youtube religious debates, I might actually watch his videos.
He's submitted videos to that guy with the glasses.
I probably think the opposite of him that most TVT forumers do.
I agree with him on a lot of points, but he made one video where he was talking about how feminists are opposed to porn, and basically showed his ignorance about what feminism actually is. I sort of couldn't respect him after that.

I don't want realism, I want magic!lol, nice.
Yeah, he does talk out of his ass sometimes. The Amazing Atheist is absolutely not someone I can look up to in the "he gets it right almost all the time" sense—even on his religiousy videos he'll occasionally pop a very poor argument (there was one awful one where he started about how atheism is "proven", only theists can't see/accept the proof, which actually made me cringe). I can respect him, though—and, more saliently, like him—because he does seem to try to inch towards being right. I dunno. It's interesting, it's human.
It Just Bugs MeYou guys mean this charming chap?
What's precedent ever done for us?I've never watched him. Partly because what I've heard of his arguments, like the aforementioned "Atheism is proven" thing, don't seem worth my time to look at. They don't anger me however. I just feel no reason to really look at them. I'm not in contact with him or in any position to be talking with him so eh.
As is I don't see a reason to hate him.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahYou read the above link?
What's precedent ever done for us?That's not a reason to hate. I see nothing as a reason to hate. Pity and desire to help yes. But hate is never reasonable.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahMeh, like I haven't seen worse. Look, I could get all worked over this guy, his opinions, and his short fallings but then I'd end up in the same hole as him. I could also consider all of his words golden but then I'd be a hypocrite. How about I just continue on my way?
The emotions of others can seem like such well guarded mysteries, people 8egin to 8elieve that's how their own emotions should 8e treated.Pretty much. Obsessing over him or hating him just makes you as bad or worse as him. Taking his words as gospel means you can't think well. Really he's not worth spending emotion on. He's just there. If anything I have a sort of muted pity for him.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahYeeeah, I'm not going to put Mr. "I will make you a rape victim if you don't fuck off" into the same camp with Socrates.
The Amazing Atheist is a dick.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.I hate this guy. He's a jerk and an egotist who hates nearly everyone and refuses to respect other people's opinions. He also says things that are outright mean and he scams people as well (he once made up a story about visiting a girlfriend two states away so viewers could send him money to buy a new jacket).
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/I've never been a big AA fan. He's anti-theist, anti-feminist, and all around....just not a very intelligent or likeable person, I guess you could say. He's popular in the (so-called) "atheist community" but I think a lot of the time any angry white guy tends to become popular in the atheist community.
Hi Tiph!
I heard about the guy, but to be honest I have never read or watched anything by him. That article that Iaculus linked to is, well, somewhat worrying, though...

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas. My uncle is a Atheist, the kind which defends his beliefs and tends to debate plenty of this stuff.
He hates this guy, says he gives atheists a bad image. I've never watched his videos but from what I've seen here, I might not want to.
In any cases, anyone whose entire gimmick is "LOOK AT ME, I'M ATHEIST!" probably isn't worth anyone's time other than to show how crazy narrow minded strawmen can be atheists too.
I have no clue how he landed a job at TGWTG though.
TGWTG also has a flying-into-a-rage gimmick, so I see the connection. However, as far as I know, TGWTG is not a colossal dickhead.
Yeah, he's not bright and he speaks too loud. He says a lot of bullshit. But he's also right sometimes and he tries to improve his quality-to-bullshit ratio, which is nice to see. I also find him kinda cute. Squeezable, not as angry as he seems, enjoys simple things.
