[up][up][up]You know this is a Dragon Ball fanwebcomic, don't you? Are you really surprised with a page full of punching? (pick a random Dragon Ball manga and see how much of these are there).

That said, I am disappointed this fighting is even happening, myself. If the Uber Namek can't completely overwhelm Cell Jr. without even moving his finger then he is not as awesome as he was set up to be.

(but, yeah, taking long breaks from this comic is probably the best way to enjoy it)

Nameks have always been mid-carders in terms of Power level. The potential to be heavy hitters (as Piccolo proved during the Freeza and Cell sagas) but not quite the same unlimited potential as the Saiyans.

So it's not a shock to me, especially since Cell made this Jr specifically to fight with the Uber-Namek.

Still, the Namek were shown to have a ridiculously boost of power when fused (see Piccolo + Nail and Piccolo + Kami-Sama). I was expecting Uber Namek to be top tier, a match to Cell father himself. He doesn't seem at all impressive so far.

I guess I could be underestimating improved!Cell Jr. However, Goku's comment on this page is nothing big either. It doesn't set the Namek to be one of the main fighters, as I was expecting myself.

I can understand a break at this time of the year. But this was an awful place for such. It doesn't even work as a cliffhanger. They should have paced it better.

PS:No, wait, the break will only happen on Sunday. There will be 2 more pages until then. Maybe enough to end this fight and create a more suitable situation for a hiatus.

No one posted this page yet? For shame!

I retreat what I said earlier about super Namek. He was appropriately Badass this page.

[up][up] I would've posted it had I not been on hiatus. Which had been broken after you posted that.

Still, good conclusion. I hope the pacing improves now.

I think you are confusing something. It is not on hiatus yet. The hiatus will start Sunday. Next Sunday. I.e Christmas day. There should still be a new page tomorrow, however.

I am not sure if it is a proper hiatus or just a Christmas break, incidentally. The comic may resume next week already, although I wouldn't be surprised if it stopped until New Year.

[up] I meant my hiatus. You did say the comic is only good when watching short bursts.

Ah, my bad. ^^; Since they did announce a break at the same day you said 'hiatus', I mixed up things.

You can go back to your own hiatus now, sorry for interrupting.tongue I will start my own when I get bored of the comic again (it happened 3 or 4 times since I started).

I'll restart my hiatus when the comic break starts. No sense starting it now when there are 1-2 comics left before Christmas.

Anyway, to switch back on topic, let's say that you are asked to create an anime adaption of DBM. What would you change? Add? Delete?

I'd add some better dialogue, and might even stretch it out with some filler, mainly for characterization purposes. I'd probably also make the fights last longer; short fights are good for a webcomic, but when you've got a visual medium, you've got a better opportunity to make things go boom.

As I mentioned before, some changes would be:

  • The space battle with Buu is done entirely with instrumental music and no conversation ('cause it's in space), with Goku replacing Vegito because seriously, I hate that guy.
  • Femgeta is only given her strength back and not her gender.
  • Add a universe where the Red Ribbon Army rules the world. Have Mercenary Tao, Gero, and Androids 13, 14, 15, and 19 all participate.
  • There would be a subplot of the various dead characters doing stuff in the afterlife. Maybe an omake or something.
  • Less focus on Universe 16. Especially Vegito because seriously, I hate that guy.
  • Other subplots to pad the series out. Maybe with specials in-between showcasing the pasts of all the different universes.

Anyways, new page. Did I ever mention how bullshit that Cell's "main core" is? The dub did the whole "regeneration from a single cell" thing much better.

Also, this comic also invalidates the previous eight pages. Seriously, did it have to take three weeks for Gast to eye-lazer Cell Jr.'s head? This comic should have the pacing of DBZ Kai, not Naruto.

And the last fight of the round is going to be King Picollo vs. Beelzebub. Any bets? Just kidding Beelzebub is going motherfucking down. You gotta be stupid to not realize that

I'd rather bet on how the next matches are going to go (an artist named Holken in the fan-art section drew some suggestions for how they're going to look). That's assuming the tournament bracket isn't randomized or something. We have so far to assume:

How strong do you think U13 Nappa is? As far as I can tell, Vegeta killed Frieza in their reality, and he can't go Super Saiyan, but he may have gotten stronger with time. Overall though, he's not doing much for the story while Frieza still manages to be interesting. I give this to Frieza.

S. Kaioshin was doing pretty well against Kid Buu before getting absorbed. Though tons of people have fought evenly or better than Buu without being able to kill him, so I'm not sure where this one could go.

I'd like to give Cell the win against Bojack mainly thanks to his abilities (hard to kill, regenerates, becomes stronger after near-death).

We don't really know anything about U3 Tapion so it's hard to say how strong he is. I'd rather give this one to Krillin since there are only two U9 reps (plus Tenshinhan likely won't be surviving his fight with Buu) while no one from U3 has lost yet. Tapion isn't really adding anything to the story so far.

I'm assuming Bra will beat Eleim since despite all the focus they get, U16 only has two reps, and based on XXI possibly being the Big Bad, Vegeto will probably be losing soon (since he's clearly Too Powerful to Live). Also, the U19 fighters have yet to interest me.

Beelzebub cannot into perspective.

Also, why the hell is Chrono not participating?

The whole Universe 2 is a joke, logic doesn't matter there. Also, Chrono is not really Toriama's creation. Yeah, he was drawn by the man, but that is it. All the U-2 characters who are fighting are actually full creation from Akira.

Plus, demon vs demon makes much more sense. Though I guess Piccolo Daimaou vs Magus (originally 'Maou') would be cool as well.

PS: Wait, today wouldn't be the minicomic?

[up]

What do you mean? The last minicomic was before Halloween.

Also, I just found out that this guy is Beelzebub's dad. How come Beel never was mentioned during the Cell fight?

[up]I messed up with the dates.

To be more specific, the notice for the break was the last news when you posted this post. I misunderstood you said the series was going on hiatus went to the webcomic to check if it was true. Since the last news was about a minicomic, I concluded they were taking a Christmas break.

My bad.

From peoples' complaints both here and in the comments, you'd think the readers want the whole comic to be 1 fight per page, with a complex power-level chart on the next page detailing exactly why it was "right" for the fighter in question to win :P. It's frustrating having to deal with seemingly unimportant back-and-forth when you only get a page every 2-3 days, but when you get down to it, it keeps the comic from being totally rushed.

@Alucard:

Nappa vs. Frieza - I really hope Nappa wins. It'd be a crushing blow to Frieza's pride to have just any old Saiyan do him in.

Goku vs. #17 - I'm thinking I'kl is finally born and fights Goku in 17's place. Otherwise, this is an open-and-shut victory for Goku.

South Supreme Kai vs. Fat Buu - It's up in the air power-wise, and plot-wise it'd be cool to see either of them fighting Uub for their own reasons (fighting one's reincarnated enemy, or own reincarnation). I guess South Kai is a little more likely since we already "know" Fat Buu.

Uub - (default victory)

Trunks vs. Vegeta - Fine with either winning, though Vegeta is far more likely plot-wise.

Pan vs. Kakarot - I'd like to see Pan win, just to give her more self-confidence.

Cell vs. Bojack - I'd like to see Cell suck up Bojack's innards for that power boost he thinks he so desperately needs.

Tapion vs. Krillin - Krillin should take it. U9 is a great universe for giving the human fighters much-missed time to shine, and I'm hoping that will be exploited with Krillin going far into the tourney.

Vegeto vs. XXI - I agree with whoever said Vegeto was too strong to live. I can definitely see XXI revealing himself as uber-powerful by Worfing him.

#18 vs. Arale - 18 needs to win just for the virtue of Arale being a joke fighter, and so Android Yamcha's sacrifice/lecture isn't wasted.

Gotenks vs. Neko Majin - Both are joke-entries so far, really. No preference.

Buu vs. Tenshinhan - Much as I like Tien, I don't see how he can win against Zen Buu.

Bra vs. Eleim - Bra will probably win, considering Eleim is an OC and nigh-indistinguishable from his comrades. I'd like to see him put up a fight worthy of her power, however.

King Cold vs. Bardock - No real preference. I think it'd be awesome to see Bardock take down Raichi, fulfilling his own prophecy, but that'd take up too many fights just to see through.

Dr. Raichi vs. Prince Vegeta - I'm wanting Raichi to win this one and kill Vegeta in the ring, using Syd's death as "justification" for his genocide against the Saiyans.

Gast Carcolh vs. Piccolo Daimao - We have yet to see U3 King Piccolo's power or personality for that matter. I'll wait until after his fight to speculate.

Pan vs. Kakarot - I'd like to see Pan win, just to give her more self-confidence.
The problem there is that we wouldn't be able to see this become a reality.
