What Could Have Been / Vs. Sonic.exe D-Sides

Despite the mod's success as one of the most popular FNF fanmods, it has also suffered a lot of Troubled Production during its history, leaving great amounts of cut content due to various reasons that ultimately lead to the mod's cancelation.

Cut content from Version 2.0:

  • "You Can't Run" originally would have used different Zephaniah sprites, but since one of the artists dropped off of the team during development, the regular Zephaniah sprites were used instead.
  • The Game-Over Man screen in "Too Fest" was originally supposed to use Garry's Mod, but since nobody on the team owned GMod at the time, the default D-Sides Game-Over Man Screen was used. However, the background did use GMod, though.
  • 2 songs, named "Prey" and "Fight Or Flight", made for a D-Sides starved continuity, was left out of the V2 build. According to the accompanying Concept Art, Mighty would try to fight Starved Maria and Shadow Hunter, only to die by Shadow Hunter, with Ray mustering the courage to avenge his friend, but it turns out Once is Not Enough. It is unknown why it was left out.
  • A two-way collaboration between Vs. Sonic.EXE D-Sides and Vs. Ved Guy was going to take place, but it was closed following the Joseph allegations. Both mods were cancelled for one reason or another.
  • Multiple songs and sprites go unused in the files following the Joseph hassle. For sprites, these were Hare, Labyrinth, Pinwheel of Death, Aimless, Clover, X-Terion and Chaotix, and for songs, this was reduced to "Prey" and "Faker".
