Sonic Stop Motion Adventures (23/5/2009 – 20/10/2018) is Exactly What It Says on the Tin; a Sonic fan Stop Motion YouTube series created by Piplupfan77 (Steven Clayton).

Tropes

  • Adaptational Wimp: Early episodes portrays most characters way more weaker than their source material.
  • Aside Glance: Sonic and Shadow do this after Shadow asks Sonic if he thinks they are in a stop motion video in the remake of the first episode.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Sometimes characters reveal they are aware being in a stopmotion video.
  • Breather Episode: "Curtain Call" and "Date Fright" are more Slice of Life and more lower stakes compared to the rest of Season 3.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Xalvanor looks like a knight of old and acts just the same, embracing the chivalric code that governed the behavior of knights. He's one of the most effective minions Robotnik builds and actually beats Sonic in their first fight. He has to bring along Shadow and Silver for the rematch.
  • Curse Cut Short: At the end of Episode 20, courtesy of Knuckles: "Come here, you little bi-"
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Knuckles isn't a complete idiot but he's generally shot down for his ideas because they aren't very good. In Date Fright however he comes up with the idea of a double date to make things less awkward for Silver which is shown to be a smart plan.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The first season is drastically different from the episodes that would follow on. Movement is much choppier, there aren't any "sets" where the action takes place, there aren't any animated mouths or eyelids until episode 8 and the voice acting is much, much different. The creator has said that the whole first season (which he counts as the first 9 episodes) is non-canon in his eyes but how serious they are about the claim is unclear.
  • Evil Doppelgänger: Bootleg Sonic, as his name reveals, is an evil look alike of Sonic and often fought each other in early episodes.
  • Evil Feels Good: Evil Bootleg Sonic introduces the titular character, an Evil Doppelgänger of Sonic who wants to destroy the world with the chaos emeralds.
  • For the Evulz: Eggman turns Sonic into a robot, Sonic asks why he did that and Eggman replies with just because he is evil in Beauty And The Bot.
  • Halloween Cosplay: Characters dress up as each other in Halloween Special.
  • Halloween Episode: Halloween Special is about characters showing off their cosplays.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Vector's relationship advice is downright awful and anyone with two brain cells can see that. The only reason he's listened to at all is that Knuckles is the same way and that Espio and Silver are too naive about romance to know any better.
  • Let No Crisis Go to Waste: When Sonic needs some ingredients from Amy's garden to save Shadow she agrees only if he'll go on a date with her. For lack of any other options he has to agree.
  • Love at First Sight: One of Eggman's robots fall in love for Amy Rose in Holy Matrimony.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: The series not only uses Sonic characters but also Mario, Pokémon, Dragon Ball Z, Mega Man, and Naruto.
  • Medium Awareness: Characters often mention what has happened in previous "episodes", rather than using more general terms such "days", "weeks", or "months".
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Curtain Call has Sonic reminding Knuckles that he tried the stock market and made no money from the whole deal. And its not the first time he's brought this up to the echidna.
    • Date Fright has Sonic bringing up an incident in town as a reason why Knuckled shouldn't be giving relationship advice. Whatever happened ended with Knuckles getting slapped by a woman.
  • Saving Christmas: Sonic lampshades in Christmas Special how every holiday special is about the heroes saving Santa Claus from a kidnapper. But Tails corrects him they only have to save him because he got corrupted by a chaos emerald.
  • Self-Parody: Remake of episode one partly makes fun of its source material.
  • Shout-Out:
  • True Love's Kiss: Eggman turns Sonic into a robot and turns back to normal when Amy Rose kisses him in Beauty And The Bot.
