Villain Team Up / Professional Wrestling

Go To

  • There have been MANY stables in wrestling history that were centered around a manager who was supposedly looking out for the financial interests of his wrestlers. While this was usually Kayfabe, Precious Paul Ellering, who assembled the original Legion of Doom in Georgia in the 1980s, which featured the Tag Team The Road Warriors, really was the team's legitimate business manager in Real Life.
  • And sometimes, evil managers team up, such as Jim Cornette and Mr. Fuji.
  • The Four Horsemen can be considered the Trope Codifier for professional wrestling. This particular group, known in wrestling as a "stable" or "faction," first formed with Ric Flair, Ole Anderson, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. Various incarnations lasted for 13 years; however, they have direct descendants running up to today's current wrestlers.
  • The very unlikely pairing of The Berserker and Papa Shango against the equally unlikely pairing of Ultimate Warrior and The Undertaker.
  • Rival heel stables The Corporation and The Ministry of Darkness put aside their differences and teamed up to take on their mutual enemies. Vince McMahon was the Higher Power controlling both groups the entire time as part of his Evil Plan to get the title off of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin though, so at the very least Vince, Shane, and The Undertaker were in cahoots the entire time. The members of the Corporate Ministry still didn't get along very well though, especially Undertaker and Triple H, and the group disbanded right after the Austin vs Vince feud ended.
  • The Four Horsemen and the Dungeon of Doom created the Alliance to End Hulkamania to finally get rid of Boring Invincible Hero Hulk Hogan. It failed miserably.
  • The Undertaker and Kane would alternate between heels and faces during their time as a tag team: the Brothers of Destruction.
  • La Nazi joined up with Los Boricuas (Comandante Pierroth and Rico Suave's group in CMLL, not Savio Vegas in WWF or Puerto Rican IWA) out of shared contempt for Mexicans.
  • Molly Holly tried this with her rival Victoria, after Victoria made it to WWE's active roster to get rid of their mutual enemy, Trish Stratus. It didn't workout but she then forced one with Gail Kim by threatening to beat Gail up until she did what she said (and what Molly said, was, of course, get rid of Trish Stratus). Victoria would also intimidate Melina into joining her against Mickie James, but then turn on Melina for Natalya Neidhart.
  • LayCool teamed up with Beth Phoenix to rid WWE of Mickie James. However, Laycool then turned on Phoenix when recruited by Vickie Guerrero, who happened to be dating Dolph Ziggler, creating a pseudo stable on Smackdown with Ziggler as The One Guy. The group even went on to have a match at Wrestlemania against the equally hodgepodge paring of Trish Stratus, John Morrison and someone for Jersey Shore. They rejected Alicia Fox though, when she tried to join them in their efforts against Melina.
  • Johnny Curtis and Maxine on WWE NXT to kidnap Matt Striker.
  • The Miz and R-Truth, two heels in separate stories at the time, somehow found common ground and teamed up in September 2011. They were disqualified from a tag team title match at WWE Night of Champions when Miz attacked a referee. The next night on Raw, then-WWE COO Triple H, sick of their antics, "fired" them. In a reverse Nice Job BreakingItVillain, this set off a chain of events where most of the WWE roster turned against Triple H, leading to Triple H's ouster as the on-screen authority figure. Miz and Truth returned to WWE TV in mid-October 2011.
  • Bobby Roode frequently in TNA. He teamed up with Austin Aries to get rid of Jeff Hardy. Well, really to win every single TNA Title belt but really, get rid of Hardy. Then he teamed with Bad Influence to protest Kurt Angle being inducted into the TNA Hall Of Fame. Then he teamed hired Aces And Eights to get rid of Jeff Hardy, again.
  • On Monday Night Raw Antonio Cesaro, an American hating Swiss, teamed up with "The Real Americans", the immigrant hating Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter. Anybody see an issue there?
  • The Femme Fatales division of Canadian Northern Championship Wrestling had an evil International Champion in Mercedes Martinez and USA based SHIMMER had an evil champion in Cheerleader Melissa. Teaming the two up must have seemed natural.
  • Shigeo Okumura is normally against all things Mexican but with Mima Shimoda acting as his manager at the 2015 Fantastica Mania, he looked past that to team up with Mr. Niebla, Pólvora and Bárbaro Cavernario to avenge his draw against Ángel de Oro. It only took him four days to swear off his new Mexican allies, though Shimoda remained by his side.
  • In 2014, Chikara put on an angle where several different heel stables from Chikara's past (The BDK, The Dark Army, GEKIDO, The Devastation Corporation) united to form a super-stable called The Flood, lead by Bane expy Deucalion.
