A Hidden Object Game series by Elefun.

The series follows Carrie (player) and her adopted daughter Lynn as they battle Elisabeth, a dark witch who seeks to steal Lynn's abilities for herself. Later, they are joined by Lynn's husband Edward, a witch hunter won over by the way that Lynn uses her abilities for good.

The stories are as follows:

The Charleston Curse (2012): Carrie receives a mysterious message from a woman named Elisabeth who claims to be the guardian of Carrie's last surviving relative, a girl named Lynn.

The Lair of the Witch Queen (2013): A teenaged Lynn uses her powers in a Roaring Rampage of Revenge against Elisabeth with potentially disastrous results.

Hunter and the Hunted (2014): A number of years have passed and Lynn and Carrie appear to be living happily in Lynn's childhood home. Lynn is even dating Edward—a man with a Dark and Troubled Past of his own.

The Ties that Bind (2014): A trip to the orphanage where Edward grew up reveals secrets about his past (and present) that even he didn't know.

Slumbering Darkness (2015): Life seems to have settled down for Carrie, Lynn and Edward but dark forces are arising and a family trip to the funfair doesn't go as planned.

The Dark Throne (2015): Morgana's power takes over Lynn in an attempt to turn her into the new Witch Queen.

Awakening Darkness: Cassandra curses Jack and his mother and possesses his sister. During the rescue attempt he's joined by Lynn's daughter Anabel and a girl named Bertha, who can turn into a ferret.

Dark Days to Come: Anabel is kidnapped by Marcus and Mara, who try to take over the world.

The City That Isn't There: Jack's mother disappears while researching family history in a mysterious town called Sallenvile.

Covered By the Night: Anabel and most of the University of Witchcraft are put into an enchanted sleep by escaped sorcerer Felix.

Rise of the Ancient: Jack and Anabel, now married, awaken the Ancient One as a last-ditch effort against the demon Ezar and his forces.

This series contains examples of:

  • Action Mom: Carrie. The action-y aspects of her adventures might be downplayed, being a Hidden Object Game, but Carrie certainly is a badass.
  • Anachronism Stew: Not unusual for the genre. From The Charleston Curse there is some indication that the series is set mid-late 20th century. Meanwhile the machines and monsters created by witches and witch hunters throughout the series range from Eldritch Abomination to steampunk to futuristic.
  • Badass Normal: Carrie, who will do just about anything to protect Lynn, her adopted daughter – even before she's properly met the girl. And she doesn't have any power. Also Jack, who starts out as a skeptic but after rescuing several loved ones from supernatural baddies, takes strange events in stride.
  • Battle Couple: According to Carrie, Lynn and Edward are this, though we never actually see them do so.
  • Becoming the Mask: Subverted with Edward. He's sent to gain Lynn's trust but ends up falling in love with her for real. However he's still considered a witch hunter in the next game despite remaining in a relationship with Lynn.
  • Big Bad: Morgana – the one who warped Elisabeth to be the way she is and the one who is ultimately pulling Elisabeth's strings.
  • Big Good: Wolfgang.
  • Broken Bird: To a certain extent Lynn and Edward both qualify but Abigail has probably had it the worst being raised by Elisabeth – she even ends up being a bird for a while.
  • BSOD: In the third game, Edward and the head witch hunter after Elisabeth sends them into deep sleep which plays into their guilt. Lynn, too, but hers is about how she can’t lose anyone else and Edward's perceived betrayal.
  • Cool Gate: The portals created by Lynn and Elisabeth.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The bonus chapter in The Ties that Bind is played from the pov of the Imp and in Slumbering Darkness it's Lynn.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Both Lynn's and Edward's and Abigail's parents were killed by witches.
  • Determinator: Carrie will stop at nothing if Lynn is in danger.
  • Distressed Damsel: Lynn. In fact the battle for her is usually the plot of the story.
  • Distressed Dude: Edward is slightly less likely to find himself in trouble than Lynn—but only slightly.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The Charleston Curse has a few inconsistencies with the rest of the series. The most notable is using live actors instead of animation and voiceover like the following games.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Morgana and Abigail.
  • Eldritch Location: Where most of the stories take place. They start somewhere normal and quickly devolve.
Carrie: Did that teddy bear just move?
  • Enemy Mine: In Hunter and the Hunted Carrie and Elisabeth briefly team up to rescue Lynn from the witch hunters.
  • Evil Laugh: Elisabeth, in true Wicked Witch style.
  • Expy: Wolfgang for Van Helsing. A witch hunter of particular fame.
  • The Faceless: Carrie rarely appears on screen which is understandable given that she shares point of view with the player. She lampshades it in Slumbering Darkness.
Carrie: I've never thought of myself as photogenic but that's a pretty good photo.
  • First Law of Resurrection: Elisabeth and Morgana, at least one of whom is back at the start of every game ready to cause mayhem in the lives of Carrie and Lynn.
  • Grand Theft Me: Both Elisabeth and Thetis try to do this to poor Lynn.
  • Happily Married: Lynn and Edward in Slumbering Darkness.
  • Happy Ending: Every game ends this way—only to be subverted in the next one. Making this more:
  • Heel Realization: Edward and the head witch hunter following their respective BSOD.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: The head witch hunter in The Ties that Bind is this being willing to stop at nothing to defeat witches - even good ones like Lynn. Edward could be this but gets over it very early in the game.
  • Hidden Object Game: Of the more interactive variety – particularly the later games.
  • Honey Trap: A rarer male example is Edward for Lynn, initially.
  • Mama Bear: Carrie who will stop at nothing to protect Lynn and, later, Edward and Abigail.
  • My Greatest Failure: Jonathon Corwin views his inability to stop Elisabeth as this.
  • Nice Guy: Edward.
  • Non-Human Sidekick: The Imp who sits on the hint button as well as actively participates in the game for certain tasks.
  • Parental Substitute: Carrie, following the deaths of Lynn's parents.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Lynn, in The Lair of the Witch Queen, is determined to make Elisabeth pay for what she did to Lynn's family.
  • Spell My Name With An S:
    • Literally with Elizabeth/Elisabeth.
    • Kari/Carrie also applies.
  • Taken for Granite: Edward is turned into a puppet in Slumbering Darkness. Also the pair of soldiers outside Morgana's palace in the same game are literally turned to stone - one unable to see and one unable to speak.
  • Transflormation: What Mathias does to Allie in the bonus chapter of Slumbering Darkness.
