Makeruna! Makendo 2: Kimero Youkai Souri, is a Fighting Game developed by Success and published by Datam Polystar on March 17, 1995 for the SNES. The game was later ported to the first PlayStation in November 10 of the same year by Fill-in-Cafe. It's the sequel of the first Makeruna! Makendo (known overseas as Kendo Rage).

After the events of the Makeruna! Makendo OVA (itself being a 30-minutes advertising for this game), Hikari Tsurugino, sister of the original Makendo, decides to participate in a youkai tournament. After some resistance from her sister, she decides to enter anyway to prove her strength, unaware that this tournament is being used by someone evil...

As one of many fighting games released during the popularity of the genre (and very late for the SNES), this game does have little to distinguish itself from the many Street Fighter II clones out there. One key difference is the use of magic, which can enhance a player, hinder the opponent, or using a Limit Break.

This game provides examples of:

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Garekky's fight is this, although he's offscreen, he can stomp and punch the player (the only time he can be damaged is when his limbs are visible).
  • Character Level: Something unusual for the genre. In Story Mode, Hikari (or any character in the PS1 version) starts at Level 1, with no magic and a very small health bar. As the player gets more points, the bars will increase. The points the character gain are also Experience Points.
  • Dance Battler: Madonna, a ballerina youkai who also burns her opponent with a flying spin.
  • Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: This game has infinite continues, which is a godsend due to the Character Level system mentioned above.
  • I Know Madden Kombat:
    • Masoccer uses many soccer balls as projectiles, slides, and his Limit Break is a literal Red Card (that really hurts, by the way).
    • Makenro, Mai's rival in the previous game, still fights as a tennis player with her projectiles, and so she counts.
  • Jumped at the Call: Hikari. When Mai objected to go to the tournament, she instantly decided to go anyways. Mai tried to stop her, only for her to get Bound and Gagged.
  • Limit Break: Every character has one, and requires more than 50% of the Magic bar to use. Also, it can't be used unless the Health Bar is at 20% or less.
  • Merchandise-Driven: The previous OVA was really a promotion for this game.
  • Updated Re-release: The PlayStation version updates the graphics, tweaks the gameplay by adding a Guard Cancel move, streamlines the magic system (every character can use more than two spells and can recharge MP by using a button instead of between rounds), adds more voices with higher quality, and adds more characters to the roster (although those need to be unlocked with the use of cheat codes).
