I've been contributing on TV Tropes for a few years now, and it has definitely both ruined and enhanced my life. I've added bits and pieces and Wicks to dozens of articles by now, mostly works articles and character pages rather than adding to a trope page, but a few of those too.
My Crowning Moment of Contribution thus far, imo, is the founding of the page for Exit/Corners, a flash game on Kongregate that's basically a discount (and by that I mean discounted all the way, it's free to play, people!) 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors, and I highly recommend it, check it out here: https://www.kongregate.com/games/Percon/exit-corners?acomplete=exit
