- Approval of God: According to a 1985 interview with Comics Feature, of all the Marvel television productions he was involved with at the time, this was oddly enough one of the two that Stan Lee was pleased with the most (the other being the much more well-known and much more successful The Incredible Hulk (1977)), saying that in comparison, Captain America (1979) was "a bit [of a] disappointment", and The Amazing Spider-Man (1978) was "a total nightmare" (even preferring the Japanese Spider-Man series over it).
- Box Office Bomb: The pilot did not achieve ratings the producers hoped, due to being aired opposite Roots (1977), and thus was not picked up for a full series.
- Colbert Bump: While the film has maintained a cult following in the following decades for its 70s cheese, it received a renewed surge of popularity following the release of the 2016 film as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Perhaps it's not coincidence that it got a DVD release for the first time in the United States and Canada shortly after said film was released, on November 1, 2016, and a Blu-ray by Shout! Factory in 2022, the year the sequel to the 2016 film got released.
