Tear Jerker / Korn

Go To

  • A number of the band's songs feature candid audio of Jonathan crying while recording his vocals.
    • "Daddy"! Widely regarded as one of the most disturbing songs ever recorded, it's about how Davis was molested by his (female) babysitter as a child and how his family didn't believe him when he told them. On the album, he doesn't just start crying, he has a full-blown, screaming and completely real mental breakdown! The rest of the band, who had no idea that the song was about him, seem to be awkwardly trying to keep up as they hear just how overwhelmed he eventually becomes. It wasn't until album's 20th anniversary that Jonathan felt comfortable performing it live and despite his insistence, it was clearly difficult for him. He came forwards a year later to say that his abuser had died by that point and he would be more comfortable singing it again in the future.
      No one hears me
      It hurt!
      I'm not a liar
      My God!
      Saw you watching
      Mommy why?!
      Your own child
    • The Nothing is bookended by tracks of Jonathan having a breakdown, with the final track ending with him weeping "I failed!" over and over. Like their debut, this entire album is one big Creator Breakdown committed to tape, as Jonathan was mourning both his mother and his wife.
    • He also cries a little bit at the end of "Holding All These Lies."
    • "Kill You," which is about his step mom.
  • The final song for See You on the Other Side, which is titled "Tearjerker".
