  • Disney Ducks Comic Universe:
    • Decades of Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck stories have left a respectably tangled family tree. All sorts of writers could make convenient new uncles/aunts, nephews/nieces, cousins or ancestors of Donald or Scrooge, many of them for one-shot publications which were only published in a single country and were obscure even there, also most of the other recurring characters that are anthropomorphic ducks (or simply birds) are related to each other in some way or another (for example, it was revealed by Don Rosa that Donald is the descendant of Cornelius and Clinton Coot, respectively the founder of Duckburg and the founder of the Junior Woodchucks); nobody really knew what was going on elsewhere in the universe. Carl Barks was one of the most prolific at this; his successor Don Rosa, intent on actually creating something resembling a continuity, tried to sort out an extensive (Mc)Duck family tree (seen here), but even this only uses characters Carl Barks created. A fan tried his hand at a complete family tree in 2006 and gave us this. In 2021, a family tree (based on the 2006 one) was created by a group of fans, and is currently still in progress, it can be found here.
    • On top of all that, even the relationships between established characters can vary from country to country and era to era. For a while in Italian comics, it was taken for granted that Scrooge and Grandma Duck were brother and sister (even though this doesn't technically make sense — given that they're supposed to be Donald's uncle and grandmother respectively, they must be at least a generation apart). Meanwhile, American comics have traditionally held that they're not even related except by marriage.
  • The genealogy of ElfQuest is a nightmare, thanks to the elves' millennia-long lifespans, promiscuous mating habits, and tendency to forget who their relatives are after a few centuries or so. Almost every named character in the comic's 30-year run (to date) can be linked to every other named character through a complex chain of offspring, siblings, and significant others. Family trees turn out to be even more complicated than the books would suggest. Particularly Rain's primary family tree, which includes main characters Pike, Rainsong, Mender, Wing, Newstar, Kimo and Sust, and about twice as many secondary characters.
  • Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics) ended up with this due to Adaptation Expansion. His family tree was so large that he was related (sometimes closely, sometimes distantly) to almost every member of the supporting cast—one of whom, Dmitri, was a crazy head in a jar working for Dr. Robotnik. He had three daughters from three alternate timelines, all of whom lead different lives, and an "Evil Twin" in Anti-Knuckles. This is an incomplete version of his family tree, note  and it's already super-convoluted. This complete version note  goes back 400 years, and even that's not far back enough, as Knuckles can trace his lineage back to Pachacamac, an echidna who lived over 4000 years ago. A Continuity Reboot erased them all from existence, leaving Knuckles as the Last of His Kind.
  • Star Wars: Legacy in all features three different branches of the Skywalker-Solo-Fel clan.
    • Volume I's main protagonist Cade Skywalker, and his uncle Nat, are male-line descendants of Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade via their son Ben. Adding to the confusion, Cade's mother turns out to be Morrigan Corde, an Imperial Intelligence operative who also birthed secondary character Gunner Yage under her current identity Moff Nyna Calixte, which makes Cade Gunner's half-brother and the stepson to Moff Rulf Yage.
    • The Imperial royal family, Emperor Roan Fel and his daughter Princess Marasiah, are female-line descendants of Leia Organa and Han Solo via their daughter Jaina, who married Imperial Ace Pilot Soontir Fel's son Jagged in Fate of the Jedi: Apocalypse.
    • Volume II of the series focuses on Ania Solo, whose ancestry is unclear; however, she's likely descended from Jaina's twin brother Jacen and his lover Tenel Ka Djo via their daughter Allana (born in the Dark Nest Trilogy and raised by Leia and Han due to shenanigans involving Jacen becoming a Sith Lord).
