A list of references to Vocaloid in other media. Many of these references are specifically to the franchise's most iconic and recognized character, Hatsune Miku.


Anime and Manga
  • In the animated adaptation of Hyouka, a couple of episodes features four minor characters, Henmi, Ariyoshi, Iizuka and Matsushiro, who are shown to be cosplaying as Hatsune Miku, Megurine Luka, Kagamine Rin and Len respectively.
  • Lucky Star: In the OVA, during a Dream Sequence, Kagami ends up cosplaying as Hatsune Miku thanks to Konata using magic to transform her outfit.
  • Besides the fact that Hatsune Miku herself is a major character in Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion, Kagamine Len and Rin, Megurine Luka, Kaito and Meiko all make various cameos across the show.
  • Hatsune Miku makes a brief cameo in episode 13 of Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei during a montage.

Asian Animation

  • Flower Angel: Season 1 episodes 33 and 34 form a two-part episode where Hatsune Miku is a major character, finding herself a fairy in the human realm and attracted to the sound of a boy playing the piano. Xia An'an, the series protagonist, mistakes her for the fairy she needs to capture.
  • Happy Heroes:
    • In a Season 3 episode, a robot dressed as Hatsune Miku appears alongside another dressed as Rin.
    • In a Season 7 episode, it's mentioned that Ambassador Miao does cosplay, and he's shown wearing a Miku costume using yarn as the hair.

Video Games

  • Hatsune Miku is a possible guest in Grow Park.
  • Street Fighter: Color 14 of Mika's Story Outfit in V gives her light blue hair and a light grey outfit, making her look like Hatsune Miku.

Web Comics

  • Sleepless Domain:
    • Team Forte is a four-person Magical Girl team and popular in-universe band, whose uniforms all take heavy cues from iconic Vocaloid outfits. Word of God confirms that the Vocaloid characters did indeed influence their designs, although they aren't based on any specific characters.
    • Each page of the unnamed "Chapter ???" has the name of a particular song in the Alt Text, forming a Virtual Soundtrack for the sequence. Among the songs referenced are "Patchwork Eden" by GUMI and "This is the Happiness and Peace of Mind Committee" by Hatsune Miku.

Western Animation

  • Infinity Train: For her act on the fashion car, MT dons a turquoise wig with pigtails that resembles the hairstyle of Miku.
  • In the Phineas and Ferb episode "Summer Belongs to You", the song "J-Pop (Welcome to Tokyo)" contains a reference to the Miku version of "Ievan Polka".
