Anime and Manga

  • In the English dub for Digimon Data Squad, Marcus (voiced by Quinton Flynn) comments that he remembers every part of his first home when going to reunite Keenan with his parents. He then expresses that he's "got it memorized" in the same tone as Axel/Lea, complete with finger gesture.

Fan Works

Films — Animated

  • Summer Wars: Kenji's hijacked avatar carrying an enormous key is a blatant reference to the series.
  • Wreck-It Ralph: A drawing of Sora is seen in Tapper's bar.

Films — Live-Action

  • Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022): On a wall which contains various defining parts and objects belonging to different characters, among them are Sora's hair and his keyblade.

Comic Books

Fan Works

  • Infinity Train: Blossoming Trail: On Lexi's papers is the image of a boy with spiky hair in a Train car filled with keys. In the Plush Penguin Car, Nico (named after NicoB and is representing sea salt ice cream) questions "Who will I have ice cream with?" upon learning that his friend Cara might be dead.

Literature

  • Hayden from Ana on the Edge is working on a Roxas cosplay for a Square Enix fan event. Ana plays part of Kingdom Hearts with him, even though she isn't very good at it.

Video Games

  • CrossCode: One item of food is "Salty Ice Cream", the description saying that it is "best enjoyed at sunset on top of a clocktower", a clear reference to Twilight Town from Kingdom Hearts II and/or Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days.
  • Dragon Ball Heroes (from 2016 onwards): the Time Patrol's Key Sword weapon is clearly inspired by the Keyblades seen in the Kingdom Hearts series, most likely Young Xehanort's from Dream Drop Distance given its similar Clock Punk design.
  • From fellow Disney crossover action game Epic Mickey: Casey's key, which you have to get near the start of the game, has a similar look as to Kairi's Keyblade. Mickey getting his heart stolen is also a plot point (albeit in a different way), and some of the blotlings act very similar to the Heartless.
    • The Power of Illusion spin-off title features a sketch of Goofy using the same Goofy Spin attack from the Kingdom Hearts console games.
  • From Final Fantasy media proper:
    • Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy: DLC for Cloud, Squall and Sephiroth gives them their appearances from the original Kingdom Hearts, and Tifa's Premium Gloves have the Kingdom Hearts symbol on them.
    • Final Fantasy XIII-2: in one scene, Lightning (shrouded in darkness, no less) reaches out to Serah, emulating the scene where Riku reaches out to Sora in the first game.
    • Final Fantasy XV: when coming across a huge locked door, Prompto remarks that they could need "a magical key that can unlock any door, like from the video games!" While this could also reference Square Enix's Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy III, Kingdom Hearts might be the first series that comes to mind for many players.
    • The mobile versions of the Theatrhythm Final Fantasy games have Auron in his Kingdom Hearts II attire as a DLC character.
    • World of Final Fantasy: During the cutscene after the false ending, Reynn is seen falling headfirst into darkness with bubble trails behind her. The start of the sequence is identical to the start of most Dives to the Heart in Kingdom Hearts; during the fall, phantoms of Lann and Reynn appear similar to Riku's dive into Sora's heart in Dream Drop Distance, and Reynn's arrival has her turn around and find Tamamohime standing behind her, similar to Sora and Roxas's boss fights during their dives in I and II. Sora himself also appears as a DLC summon.
  • Marvel Heroes: One possible item for Deadpool's weapons slot is "Keyblades".
  • In Pokémon GO, encountering a Team GO Rocket Grunt using Dark-types has her say "Wherever there is light, there is also a shadow.", a reference to a line said before the first Darkside battle in the first game.
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has an unlockable weapon skin for Ratchet and Rivet's wrench and hammer, turning them into an appropriately-styled Keyblade.
  • Saints Row (2022) has an unlockable skin for the Pickaxe weapon called the Saintsblade, a massive Saints-style Keyblade with special hit effects.
  • Terraria has the Keybrand, a sword that can be found as a hardmode drop in the Dungeon. Other than the fact that it's missing its keychain, it's otherwise a dead ringer for Sora's keyblade.
  • The Simpsons Game: the defeated Fire Sumos say "every light must fade, every heart must return to darkness", a reference to Ansem's line from the first game.
  • Undermine: an item known as a "Key Blade" (obviously designed off of Sora's Kingdom Key) can be found.
  • The World Ends with You: Rhyme's shoes look oddly similar to Sora's from Kingdom Hearts II. Also, Uzuki's reaction when she sees Kariya slacking off is identical to Kairi's from the first game: "Kariya, you lazy bum!"
  • World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth: Stormsong Valley already looks similar to the Destiny Islands, and in a tree at Thresher’s Wharf there are three NPCs with Sora, Riku and Kairi's outfits.

Web Comics

  • Sleepless Domain: In the story, main character Undine at one point experiences "the Dream", a supernatural Dream Sequence that begins with her drifting through an empty abyss in a way that resembles the Dive into the Heart. A non-canon guest comic takes the Kingdom Hearts joke all the way — Undine lands on a stained glass Station depicting Tessa, herself, and her teammates, and pulls out a Keyblade as several Shadows materialize to attack her. She's less than enthusiastic about the whole ordeal:
"Oh no. Not this nonsense again."

Western Animation

  • Amphibia: The promo art for the episode "True Colors" is a reference to the box art for Kingdom Hearts II.
  • Archer: In "Tragical History", Pam's keychain has Sora's Kingdom Key on it.
  • Codename: Kids Next Door: The island in Chester's headband from "Operation: U.T.O.P.I.A." is a subtle reference to the Destiny Islands. The design looks nothing like the Destiny Islands, but the entire island is a playground with no adults, and Nigel is greeted by a Kairi expy.
  • DuckTales (2017): In "The Shadow War", Mrs. Beakley prepares a slice of apple shortbread pie with a scoop of sea-salt ice cream and mentions it was Scrooge McDuck's favorite.
  • My Adventures with Superman: In episode seven, there is a brief image of an alternate universe version of Lois Lane dressed similarly to Sora and holding a keyblade-like object.
  • OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes: The Shadowy Figure's black hooded coat very closely resembles the black coats worn by Organization XIII, and one episode has Rad dress up in a black coat virtually identical to such.
  • The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder: In "Home School", KG is playing a variant of Kingdom Hearts, specifically at the Dive to the Heart, with his gaming setup also depicting the trees on Destiny Islands.
  • Robot Chicken: A sketch from "May Cause Numb Butthole" features Sora, Donald, and Goofy attending Master Xehanort's "Keyblade Party", alongside Sigourney Weaver from The Ice Storm and other Disney characters.
  • The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse: In "The Wonderful Spring of Mickey Mouse", Mickey's Keyblade can be seen amongst his various possessions.
