Playing With / Fan Disservice

Go To

Basic Trope: Fanservice is made disgusting, horrifying or ridiculous due to the people involved or the circumstances surrounding it.

  • Straight:
    • Bob, a morbidly obese man, poses in a skimpy bikini.
    • Bob goes to Alice's house and sees her standing behind a curtain, her legs being very shapely. When Bob opens the curtain, he is horrified to see they're no longer attached to her.
    • Alice is a conventionally attractive woman, but she's a sickeningly cruel Sadist who Would Hurt a Child and brutally torture them on-screen for the lulz.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Downplayed:
  • Justified:
  • Inverted:
    • Fanservice
    • Alice, an attractive woman in a bikini sensually rolls around in the mud, subverting something normally disgusting into something rather sexy.
  • Subverted:
    • Bob, a morbidly obese man, is seen wearing a bikini. However, it was actually someone wearing a Latex Perfection disguise of Bob. The disguise comes off, revealing the head of a sexy lady.
    • Bob sees Alice standing behind a curtain, her legs being very shapely. When Bob opens the curtain, he sees they're no longer attached to her. However, it turns out to be the legs of a mannequin that Alice placed there to shock Bob as a prank.
    • People think Hollywood Homely Bob won't have any attractive parts of his body, but when he takes his clothes off, he looks quite attractive.
  • Double Subverted:
    • While the lady's head is pretty, her body looks just as bad as Bob's.
    • And then the very old and ugly Alice enters the room, wearing only a bikini.
    • But Alice's next prank is forcing Bob to eat her own vomit.
    • But then Bob transforms himself into a hideous monster.
  • Parodied: A photo of Bob wearing a bikini acts as a Brown Note and is never shown onscreen.
  • Zig-Zagged: Bob constantly changes his appearance. Sometimes he's hideous, and sometimes he's a flat out Mr. Fanservice.
  • Averted:
    • Only the good-looking characters are shown in sexy situations.
    • There are no sexual moments/scenes.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: "Good lord, Bob, put something less revealing on!"
  • Invoked:
    • Emperor Evulz pushed Bob into a vat of acid, causing him to go from a hot guy to a hideously scarred one.
    • Charlie wants to prank Bob by saying he wants to show him a hot model.
    • Charlie wants to prank Bob by saying he got him a job as a crossdressing model.
  • Exploited: Bob is so ugly that when he takes his shirt off Emperor Evulz's eyes explode.
  • Defied:
    • Bob makes sure to diet and exercise to not become ugly.
    • Bob refuses to be nude in any context, aware that he's ugly-looking.
  • Discussed: "Oh my goodness Bob, your body will be in my memory forever... in the worst way possible."
  • Conversed:
  • Implied: Bob is very ugly and fat, and he has a lot of bikinis and bras in his room.
  • Deconstructed: Receiving tons of disgusting reaction causes Bob to hate himself and lead to severe body image issues.
  • Reconstructed: Bob doesn't care about negative reception, either he is The Prankster and expects everyone to disgust him for the lulz, or uses his conventionally unattractive physical appearance to promote body positivity.
  • Played for Laughs: An unattractive person in a revealing outfit (or even being completely naked) is played as Naked People Are Funny.
  • Played for Drama: The attractive-looking Alice is shown mostly naked, but it's because she's about to be tortured and raped.

Now that we are done here let's head back to the trope pag- OH MY GOODNESS BOB! PUT A SHIRT BACK ON!
