Plants vs. Zombies

• Hello, we are about to launch an all-out attack on your houze. Sincerely, the Zombies ^ExplanationThe notes that the Zombies send the player in the first game are a common meme and edit subject, especially the first one, possibly due to the ridiculousness of the Zombies informing someone of their invasion by sending them a letter.
• Wabby wabbo/Webi wabo ^ExplanationCrazy Dave's gibberish speech noises are often typed out when talking about the games, and used in memes. Officially, it's known as "wabby wabbo", but some fans call it "webi wabo", possibly because of this video.
• BECAUSE I'M CRAAAAAAAZY! ^Explanation This is easily Crazy Dave's most used and memed sentence, both In-Universe and out.
• What is different about the Newspaper Zombie, you ask? ^Explanation How Shyguymask introduced the extremely souped-up version of Newspaper Zombie in Plants vs Zombies Plus mod, followed by an earrape version of Moongrains while the zombie plows through the defenses without much issue. It has since become a custom to do the same for other mods and sometimes the similarly powerful PVZ2 Newspaper Zombie.
  • He was this close to finishing his sudoku/Crossword Puzzle.^ExplanationWhenever the Newspaper Zombie is showcased, it's almost customary for someone to make a comment quoting his Almanac entries.
• The soundtrack for the "Day" levels and the sound effect played when the player optains a new item are also popularly used in memes and edits.
• "Young fly on the track"^ExplanationThe first line in the song "Where Did You Go" by S'morez, which is a remix of the pool level theme. It saw popular use on TikTok in late 2021. This spawned PvZ related edits involving the above line, as well as a certain racial slur which comes immediately after it.

Plants vs. Zombies 2

• Garlic Vine. ^ExplanationA certain Redditor was answering questions about the games despite never playing any of them. One of the questions was "What's the best plant?" to which they answered with "Garlic Vine". The subreddit almost immediately exploded and started treating Garlic Vine as a Game-Breaker capable of single-handedly winning every level. The plant also appeared in Creeps20's mod Garden Rush as well.
• "I've lost my magic."^ExplanationA quote from Wall-nut in the Feastivus Thymed Event where it has become a recurring joke amongst the fans. Even PopCap developers acknowledged this.
• "You're artificial turkey."^ExplanationA grammatical error from Dr. Zomboss as he sent his Turkey Boss to fight the players. This was fixed by PopCap as the event was over, thus it becomes a gag amongst the fans.
• Doom-shroom's redesign.^ExplanationWhen Doom-shroom's return to Plants vs. Zombies 2 was leaked online, fans quickly mocked how small it appeared to be or comparing its redesigned cap shape to the Discord logo.

Plants vs. Zombies Heroes

• Weenie Beanie^note one of the Plants' Smarty Starting Units with 1 attack, 1 HP, and no special traits being jokingly considered a Memetic Badass and the most overpowered plant in the entire game, similar to the memetic treatment of Magikarp and the 0/0 dart monkey.
  • Like Weenie Beanie above, there's also the Swabbie^note a 1/1 uncommon imp pirate with Amphibious and one of the Zombies' Sneaky weaker units being jokingly coined as one of the most powerful zombies in the game. It is even more joked on when he gets a mustache from Imposter.
  • Similarly, there's Ra Zombie^note A 6-Brain cost card with very underwhelming 3/4 stats, has an ability that removes 2 suns off the Plant Hero when played (which is utterly useless if played in the Tricks Phase), and is overall considered a terrible card. Memetically, like Weenie Beanie, it's considered one of the best cards in the game. From this, there's two subcategories:
    • "Teleport Ra", where the Zombie player uses Teleport to play a Ra Zombie during the Zombie Tricks phase. Not only is it underwhelming, but it's also utterly useless since the Plants have already played their turn and spent their sun. Memetically, it's considered a superb move.
    • "Ra Moon Rising", aka a situation where Bad Moon Rising spawns the Ra Zombie who again, has an utterly useless ability during the Tricks phase, and is one of the most underwhelming zombies that Bad Moon Rising can spawn. Memetically, it's considered the best thing to spawn from Bad Moon Rising.
• One of the Plants is called Sportacus. Thanks to sharing a name with Sportacus of LazyTown, the fandom has been very quick to make Lazytown memes over this.
• Comparing the characters from here with the characters from Cuphead is a very popular trend, particularly because several characters share similarities — Conehead with Cuphead (Non-Human Head naming scheme beginning with C), Solar Flare/Sunflower with Cagney Carnation, Neptuna with Cala Maria (mermaids wearing octopi on their heads), Captain Deadbeard and the Zombot Plank Walker with Captain Brineybeard and his ship (pirates and their ships), Professor Brainstorm/Dr. Zomboss and Zombot 1000 with Dr. Kahl and his robot (Mad Scientists and their mechas), and so on and so forth.
• X throwing Y ^ExplanationEver since the release of Gargantuar-throwing Imp and Imp-throwing Imp, there's a common joke involving a zombie throwing another zombie, some being as ludicrous as Trickster-throwing Trickster.
• Clock Tribe ^ExplanationThe only tribe with a single card in it (Cuckoo Zombie) that somehow sticks around. PopCap themselves may also be acknowledging it, especially after they removed several other tribes with more members (Onion, Vacation, Knight, Garbage) yet kept Clock around.
• Instead ^ExplanationThe Unthawed Viking is a zombie has the ability "Pirate Evolution: Instead, Freeze all Plants out of the Water." In the 1.30.4 update, the description for said ability was mistakenly changed to just "Instead." This has become extremely memetic with the community within a week of the update, with popular Plants vs. Zombies Heroes YouTuber FryEmUp even creating a deck dedicated to the meme.
• Sexy Solar Flare ^ExplanationSolar Flare is infamous in certain internet circles for being privy to Self-Fanservice, ranging from attractive humanizations to outright porn.

Others

• "Bullshit! My TONGUE touched the finish line first!" "You're the one bullshitting!"^ExplanationA conversation between a Red Stinger and a Peashooter lifted verbatim from one of the official manhuas, ridiculed by the subreddit for being so unexpectedly vulgar for a family-friendly franchise (and surprisingly in-character for most Fanon portrayals of Red's personality.) It should also be noted that the manhuas are written for younger children in mind.
• There are also troll face edits with the plants and zombies. All games are affected, though people mainly use the ones from the first game.
• STFU, Zomboss is rapping^ExplanationA video edit depicting Dr. Zomboss rapping to Rap God while remixed with Graze the Roof theme from the first game is quite popular, with some fans taking note that he could dethrone Crazy Dave's aforementioned webi wabo's rap with it.
• The moment in the new Beta of PvZ3 where Mo destroys the garden spawned various memes, such as him executing Order 66.
• Transphobic Dr. Zomboss^ExplanationInitially came from a Twitter post where Dr. Zomboss saying "Gays, get out", then a sketch depicted Zomboss saying that he does not support the transgender community as a quote tweet over this, with a voice dub over both images.
• this game much bad^ExplanationAn incoherent review about PvZ1 ended up as a common copypasta amongst the fans.
