"Every single video is the same, but once you watch one you cannot STOP. His videos are made of Pringles!"

OH WHAT THE—!

Hello, this is SIR RON LIONHEART, and WELCOME TO LET'S PLAY the Sir Ron Lionheart TV Tropes page!! Yeah! Fantastic!

Sir Ron Lionheart is a FANTASTIC Let's Player who started out sounding normal, but then got a MANLY VOICE! YEAH! IN YOUR FACES!

He also likes to cast himself as some sort of traveler OF THE NIGHT who goes to a video game world, quickly befriends the protagonist there, helps them win the game, then moves on. Think abridged series + let's play, BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER!

Sir Ron has done FANTASTIC Let's Plays of the following games:

There is also a SUPER ULTRA OMEGA Webcomic about him: Sir Ron Lionheart's FANTASTIC Adventures - Doing it perfectly!!

He first burst onto the LP scene in ULTRA OMEGA HEAVY METAL fashion in February 2009. After taking the entirety of 2011 off, he suddenly reappeared in April 2012, and uploaded videos regularly again for about a year. Sir Ron has been inactive since early 2013 due to his computer dying, though his output had been slowing considerably prior to that. He returned late August 2014 and posted multiple commentary-free Final Fantasy Tactics videos, then disappeared again for another few years before making his triumphant return in 2019 with Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Sir Ron, his Let's Plays, and Special Guests provide PERFECT examples of the following Trrropes:

  • The Alcoholic: OH WHAT THE—! - What are you talking about? Sir Ron only drinks FANTASTIC Chateau Romani!
  • All Men Are Perverts: "Oh you boys are all the same!" Also, during the sidequest wherein Link has to get a picture of the face of a female pirate, he retakes the photo so as to also include the pirate's cleavage.
  • Angrish: With hilarious frequency.
  • Arc Number: 7 hours and a half! HAHA!
    • Place Super Mario World has 12.
  • Artistic License – Geology: Lampshaded. As we all know, Titanium is the strongest wood of all!!
    • Recent episodes reveal that the second-strongest wood of all is Uranium.
  • Bada-- Adorable: Palom and Porom, especially with Palom learning Meteo shortly after Cecil's paladin transformation.
  • Bada-- Creed: "Why take the shortcut when you can go the long way?"
  • Bada-- Bookworm: Sir Ron himself, as he went on hiatus to study Mathematicks course, Trrigonometry course, and computer science information technology course!
  • Bash Brothers: Sir Ron and SPECIAL GUEST Andy the Anarchist in "Let's Go Back In Time And F!@# Around!"
  • Berserk Button: Averted for the most part; Ron is actually fairly easy-going, never letting anything get to him, not even a Kaizo Trap. However, he plays it frighteningly (and hilariously) straight if he is cheated out of a large reward he most definitely earned.
  • Big Oh My God: "... God!... GOD!... GOOOOOOOOD!!"
  • Boisterous Bruiser: Sir Ron himself qualifies fantastically.
  • Break the Haughty: After the deaths of Palom and Porom in Final Fantasy IV, he starts to lose his Hot-Blooded attitude.
  • Buffy Speak: Sir Ron generally refers to beings he can't immediately identify as "man-guy-things"
    • Remember kids! Family never dies, they're your one true... things... Yeah!
  • Captain Obvious: Sir Ron gives Kafei this nickname after he explains the rather evident solution to getting through the trap rooms in the thief hideout. Kafei is naturally confused by this when Ron continues to call him such after going back in time again.
    Tatl: Who is that?
    Ron: That is a man!
  • Catchphrase: Quite a repertoire in fact, that keeps getting larger while also remaining completely recognizable. "OH WHAT THE—!" is the main offender, occasionally approaching Verbal Tic levels.
    • Contra Man's words of wisdom to Sir Ron, "REMEMBER KID, DON'T GET DEAD/JUST KILL!"
    • One seems to serve as his gaming philosophy: "Why take a shortcut when you can take the long way?"
  • Cool Shades: Sir Ron and his beautiful vampire queen are flaunting some in a previous YouTube icon.
  • Couch Gag : Not done by Sir Ron himself but by the highest rated comments on each of his videos, a lot of them are funny. Chances are, you'll be reading them first before watching the episode and it'll become a routine before you know it.
  • Characterization Marches On: His first LP, Super Mario 64's, the first videos seem very unenthusiastic and lack his trademark voice. It can be rather off-putting to hear it after listening to another later LP of his.
  • Curse Cut Short: OH WHAT THE-!
    • Whenever he does occasionally curse, he cuts those out. (e.g., "YOU MOTHERFU-) When he plays games with minor swears like "Hell" or "Damn", he reads them and cuts them out halfway, as well. He often parodies himself in this department, such as with the introduction of a certain bard.
      • "DAAAAAAAAAAAA-!"
      • For his Braid LP, he has to do a lot of editing to cut out all the times Andy the Anarchist swears. It makes the video extremely jerky.
      • His first video of his I Wanna Be the Guy LP contains a hilarious one. After going through the game for 20 minutes without so much as a single swear (possibly a record for this game) and only progressing three screens, he tries to jump down into a hole... and a platform pops up out of nowhere, blocking him. Sir Ron's reaction: "FFFUUU-!"<end of video>
  • The Dandy: Gilbert would like to remind you that he is very handsome. Ahaaa...
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: In Contra, the giant alien man-guy-thing that looks like a YOU-KNOW-WHAT!!
  • Drunk on Milk: He gets a little tipsy after drinking Chateau Romani which causes the hungover episode in FF4.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The Super Mario 64 LP starts with him speaking very calmly and normally. Starting at about Episode XXX, though, "Omega" Sir Ron starts to develop.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Bill Rizer Contra Man!
  • Evil Gloating : In the Hylian Loach arc, Sir Ron finally snapped at the fat fishes that kept taking the bait instead of the legendary fish, which in turn produced this memorable quote:
Sir Ron: "You know what, I'm catching one of you guys, and then we're gonna put you on a frying pan, and then put a lot of butter on you, and then after putting a lot of butter on you guys, HRRGH! And then we gonna show you, the result to YOUR friends! YOU GOT THAT!? GET OVER HERE!".
  • Foreshadowing
    • He'll often make references to games that he will eventually LP.
    • In the Final Fantasy VIII Let's Play, while Seifer trains to power level 100, Squall and Zell seem to be watching the Galbadians assemble X-ATM092.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Often, his videos will feature appearances by his wife, the lovely, vampiric MulanMoulin. She's almost always nicer than Sir Ron to the other characters.
  • Gargle Blaster: Ron jokingly claims that Chateau Romani is "1000 proof".
  • Gentle Giant: Sir Ron portrays Ridley as this. Ridley apparently attacked the Space Colony because Sir Ron and the Contraman killed his brother.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: He almost never swears, and says things like "kick some serious you-know-what".
    • This is due partly to the fact that sometimes there have been very young children in the room with him.
    • This proves to be a problem in the Braid LP, because Sir Ron's friends do not censor themselves, causing Sir Ron to have to make numerous content edits to the videos before they are posted.
  • Have I Mentioned I Am Heterosexual Today?: In his Contra LP.
    • "We love women! I LOVE WOMEN!"
  • Heroic BSoD/Omnicidal Maniac: The infamous Pink Tails incident. Just watch.
  • Hidden Depths: On a former description of his, Ron claimed that the reason he hasn't uploaded video in a while is because he studies for half of each day for his science classes. He also appears to be more self-deprecating in regards to his character.
  • Hot-Blooded: Sir Ron IS this trope. That's why he's so FANTASTIC OMEGA ULTRA!! YEAH!!!
  • 100% Completion: Sir Ron is nothing if not dedicated. Expect him to grab every last item, show off every last Easter Egg, and even demonstrate Game Breaking Bugs that force an off-camera replay to fix. "I'm a perfectionist, I never leave anything undone. HAHAHAHA!"
    • Could wind up being averted in I Wanna Be the Guy. Unlike his other LPs, Sir Ron appears to be playing this one totally blind, even stating in one video that he wished he could communicate with fans in real time so he'd know where to go next.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: He did this occasionally (read: a lot) in his FFIV LP.
  • Informed Ability: Link is supposedly a master archer, but generally hits all of his targets through quantity of arrows rather than precision of arrows.
  • Insistent Terminology: He's got quite a few.
    • HP is always called "blood".
    • Power Rings are "golden onion rings".
    • ROM hackers are referred to as "construction workers".
    • Item subscreens are the character's "sail-you-lar phone with built-in GPS".
    • "Easy" and "Hard" mean the opposites.
    • His LP videos are always labelled in Roman numerals. This is commented upon by both sides of the Retsupurae debate.
  • Jerk Jock: "Hah-Sahn"(Jason) qualifies, what with him spending all his time at the gym and beating up nerds. Chyeah.
  • Lampshade Hanging: Sir Ron loves to do this.
  • Large Ham: Qualifies as this most of the time, but most obviously in Contra.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: Chip Cheezum and General Ironicus describe some of Sir Ron's arguments with Super Mario 64-Bit as this until Super Mario 64-Bit finally resigns and accepts being Sir Ron's little bitch.
  • Man Of Five Billion Voices: Okay, maybe not that many, but his range seems to be continuously expanding and even his earlier videos feature remarkably accurate voices for the main characters at the very least.
  • Miles Gloriosus: X insists that he didn't need anybody's help, and that he beat Vile during the intro stage. Sir Ron calls him out on this frequently. He would be a Small Name, Big Ego if he was not so TITANIUM METAL.
  • Motor Mouth: Especially the (longer each time, see below) introductions to his Sonic The Hedgehog The Porcupinenote  episodes.
  • MST: Done by Rrrretsupurae, originally when Sir Ron was playing Majora's Mask.
    • Inverted with Let's Recommend by ChipCheezum and General Ironicus. There also used to be a "Sir Ron Appreciation Station" on youtube (link now sadly dead) where a group of Something Awful LPers talk about how much they like his work.
  • No Indoor Voice: Link.
    • Sir Ron himself qualifies most of the time as well.
  • Overly Long Gag: With each zone, Sonic The Hedgehog The Porcupine's name gets longer. By the end, its "Sonic The Hedgehog The Porcupine The Guinea Pig The Olympic World Medallist Swimmer The Golden Onion Ring Eater The Spiky Rolling Blue Heavy Metal Pinball The Guinea Pig And Bunny Protector The Eggman Destroyer The 'Casper The Friendly Ghost' Protector PART 1"! YEAH!!
    • In the Star Light Zone, he spends an entire video trying to explain how to get an extra life he bypassed at the beginning, but ends up interrupting himself each time.
    • Once Navi mentions the "Hylian Loach", Sir Ron asks what it is. When Navi refuses to tell him, he asks about everyone they meet about it, only for them to either change the subject or ignore him completely.
      • Arc Fatigue: When Sir Ron finally finds out what the Hylian Loach is, he and Link spend seven full length videos trying to catch it.
  • Precision F-Strike: Near the end of Ocarina of Time.
Ganondorf: Curse you, Zelda. Curse you, Sages. You mother-{jumpcut}, Link!
  • Rrreset Button: The power of "Save State!", "Load State!", and "RRREWIND!" Restricted to his adventures with Super Mario 16-Bit.
    • And Braid, since being able to RRRREWIND! is vital to solving many of the puzzles.
  • Rrrunning Gag: Almost every LP has some sort of mildly amusing quirk that somehow gets funnier with repetition.
    • Super Metroid: Sir Ron visits every save station, and never saves.
    • Final Fantasy IV: He talks to every Namingway, but never changes names.
    • Super Mario World The Cookie Crisis: He savestates in slot #50.
    • Super Mario 64: He keeps entering Tick Tock Clock intending to complete the "Get A Hand" star, but instead completes all the ones that are supposed to come after that. "Get A Hand" winds up being one of the very LAST stars he gets.
      • Also, Super Mario 64-Bit doesn't pick up 100 coins for a world's Star. According to Sir Ron, the number that comes after 99 is "a thousand" at first, and eventually morphs into "one billion!" For example: {*mario has 95 coins*} "We have 95 coins! Only five more until we reach One Billion!!"
    • Sonic the Hedgehog: Sonic's name gets added onto with each zone, eventually taking Sir Ron nearly 15 seconds to say even at Motor Mouth speed.
    • When meeting a group of generic characters:
Sir Ron: "Wow, you guys sound all the same!"
    Generic NPC:
"What are you talking about? We all sound very different!"''
  • Samus Is a Girl: Until the very last part of Super Metroid, Ron firmly believes that Samus isn't a girl, but a robot. He is thoroughly surprised when he learns the truth. But it is a FANTASTIC truth!
  • Shout-Out: Once in a while, Sir Ron, whilst conversing with Gilbert, will drop the title of What's Eating Gilbert Grape. And then say he found a grape.
  • Story Arc: Although not seen at first in his first few playthroughs, A ongoing story arc slowly became to form chronicling Sir Ron's FANTASTIC travels that usually revolve him around him trying to reunite with other video game characters that he's met with in the past.
  • Trapped in TV Land: Not exactly trapped, he imagines himself inside the game he's LP-ing (and travelling between them). So it's more like Adventures In TV Land.
  • Snow Means Death: While in the snowed-up mountains of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Sir Ron is significantly less hotblooded, and is actively worried about the cold.
  • Sorry, I Left the BGM On: A lot of the in-game music is supposedly FANTASTIC Rrrringtones on different characters' sail-you-lar phones.
  • Spoof Aesop: He practically has one for every game.
  • Testosterone Poisoning: ANYONE WHO DOESN'T WATCH THIS LP IS NOT A REAL MAN!!
  • The Power Of Heavy Metal: Everything Ron does or encounters is HEAVY METAL!
  • The Unintelligible: Sonic The Hedgehog The Porcupine the (...) only speaks by occasionally saying "Yeah!"
  • Token Black Friend: Andy the Anarchist, and he makes sure you know.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Super Mario 16-Bit seems to have grown callous in Sir Ron's absence, calling him "Stupid Man Lasagna" every chance he gets.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Chateau Romani! Delicious!
  • Trrrilling Rrrs: Interestingly enough, Sir Ron does this even when out of character. His normal speaking voice—which he uses for his first couple dozen videos—has a noticeable accentnote  that he decided to take up to eleven in-character.
  • Unstoppable Rage: In Final Fantasy IV, Sir Ron loses his shit after receiving the Adamant Armor. he had two Pink Tails in his inventory, but the guy who gave him the armor took both Tails and only gave him one Adamant Armor in return.
  • Verbal Tic: Sir Ron's "OH WHAT THE—!" could qualify.
    • Super Mario 16-Bit's constant insertion of "a-lasagna" into sentences definitely does.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds : X and Sir Ron is type 2. It is interesting to note that only X has this kind of relationship with Sir Ron throughout Sir Ron's journey, the fact that Megaman is kind of an ass helps.
    Sir Ron: "YOU SUCK!"
    X:
    "No, You SUCK!"
    Sir Ron:
    "NO YOU SUCK!"
    X: "NO YOU SUCK!"
    • Sir Ron also seem to have this relationship with Super Mario 16-Bit. As the LPs have continued, Super Mario 16-Bit takes increasing joy in insulting Sir Ron.
  • Vocal Evolution : It took about 30 videos for him to develop the now famous manly voice.
  • Welcome to Corneria : Averted in the FF8 LP. Sir Ron dubs most of the NPCs' dialogue, so each NPC will only say something once and after that it'll be 'I'm not going to repeat myself'.
  • You ALL Look Familiar: Lampshaded in one episode of Final Fantasy IV. "Haha! Quadruplets!"

See you next time on the next FANTASTIC episode of TVTropes! Fare thee well...
Mario: What are jou talking about jou mang?, lasagna.
